  1. Billy Mays here with MIGHTY PUTTY!!!!!!!
  2. Get some Lake Fork Live Magic Shad instead. Great action.
  3. I was looking for some under spins, and came upon one I had never seen before by Gambler called the "Meano". Has anyone ever used this? I have a Buckeye Lures Su-Spin that works pretty well, but this one looked too good to pass up. Here's a pic. Let me know what you think.
  4. Been curious about the Shakalicious worm. I'm assuming it produced well for you since you used it so much. Might have to pick up a pack and give them a try.
  5. Okuma Trio 30s. Best $50 you'll spend.
  6. I saw the Crucial and the Phenix Recon. Leaning towards the Recon but not sure just yet.
  7. I really like Abu rods, and it yeah it would look cool with the STX lol. Plus I hear it's lighter than the Veritas, which you know how much I love that rod.
  8. I'm gonna have to buy a rod that I can throw this on. Our local lake holds fish DEEP, and this will come in handy during those hot summer days.
  9. I love Academy's H20 line. Quality baits with pretty decent VMC hooks, and great paint jobs.
  10. The STX has a 8:0:1 gear ratio if you really want a high speed reel. The new SX has a different brake system than what my Gen 2 SX had. I never could get my SX dialed in and hated it, but my Black Max 2 which has the same brakes as a Gen 3 SX performed great so maybe it will be more user friendly. Good luck either way. The new SX is sweet looking.
  11. I'm always looking for the next best thing, but it has to be substantially better than what I own to get my money. I own mainly Abu gear, but that's only because they've never failed me and are priced reasonably well. I have no issue with buying an Okuma/Daiwa/Pflueger though if something catches my eye. Shimano I do have an issue with, since members of this board are like Jehovahs Witness when it comes to their reels.
  12. I love the S. What a great reel it's turned out to be. I have the STX as well, and rarely if ever use the mag brakes.
  13. The brake system on the S and STX are pretty much fool proof. The STX is the best of both worlds for sure.
  14. Yeah the 1/4oz size balances out the best with your "standard" sized worms.
  15. Abu also makes a micro guide Villain, but with Abu's track record for horrendous alignment of their micro guides(In my experience), I would not buy one without getting to visually inspect it first. I really want one for my new STX, but just can't pull the trigger for $180.
  16. If you're looking for a new Revo, get the S or the STX. I can't stand mag only reels, so I'm a bit biased I guess, but I do own both the new S and new STX and both are amazing reels.
  17. Love me an anaconda rage rigged. That tail...
  18. FWIW, I use nothing but 1/4oz shakey head jigs. I do use mainly football jigs too. For me, Yum F2 ribbon tails slightly trimmed, and Big Bite Squirrel Tails work great on a shakey head. I've caught more on the ribbon tails than a true shakey head worm, but if you want an awesome worm that will get the tail sticking straight up and wiggling, then the Squirrel Tails are a great choice. I got some Bruiser Bait worms a few months ago, and they really stand up nicely on a 1/4oz head as well. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but the worms I mentioned have produced so well for me I haven't really branched out to try anything different. Good luck.
  19. Every article I read, is nothing more than a commercial for a certain bait with very little detail or useful info. I'm just tired of someone trying to sell me something, when I'm just looking for honest to goodness advice. Pick up a magazine nowadays and read an article, and you'll surely see that they mention certain brands of baits constantly in these articles with very little info on techniques. It's not their fault, as their 2nd job is to please their sponsors so they can continue making a living off the sport they love. These guys are walking, talking billboards. In such a competitive sport, can one really expect them to clue anyone in on how to more/bigger fish? They'd be crazy to spill the beans on what makes them great. This is why I don't put any stock in what they say, as they 1, don't say much that's useful, and 2 they are salesman. And c'mon...NO ONE is as predictable as RW.
  20. The Grandebass Megatail Rattle Snake is a good one, along with the Rage Recon Worm, and Big Bite's Coon Tail.
  21. Agreed. They are all about pimping their sponsor's gear, and keeping all the good info to themselves. IMO, the pros are ZERO help.
  22. I gotta say Spider Wire EZ Fluoro. That stuff was flat out JUNK. Stiff, memory like a telephone cord, and that was after a bath in KVD LnL. Soured me on using anything but mono or Yo Zuri hybrid. Worst reel I ever bought was....A gen 2 Revo SX. It was smooth and looked nice, but man I couldn't get that reel tuned to save my life. I know everyone else loves that reel, but I HATED it.
  23. Get some ZMan chatterbaits or Booyah Boogees too. I love to get a white Zman Chatterbait and put on a zoom fluke. Caught fish nearly every time I used that.
  24. I'm sure I will give the Scatter Rap a try, but I learned long ago that these hyped new baits are mostly just that: Hype. We'll see.
  25. The Norman lures have amazing paint jobs. Strike King could learn a thing or two from them. I have quite a few of the Little Ns, and just picked up a DD22. Wonder how it stacks up to the 6XD?
