  1. Saw Big-O mention this but didn't hear how or what to do. Does anyone know?
  2. I think that sometimes too much action is a bad thing.
  3. For me it's the Rage Tail Smokin' Rooster. When I saw a video of these flappin' and flutterin' underwater I just KNEW I'd catch a ton of bass on these. Well....I haven't gotten anything on them all year long. liked how they looked, but the fish clearly don't.
  4. Picked up a booyah the other day and was surprised how good it is.
  5. Shakey head and spinnerbait.
  6. Wow. I didn't see the forest for all the trees. my mistake. Seemed like that focused more on suspending vs non suspending though.
  7. The Falcon Bucoo micro is an excellent rod as well. I've got my new STX sitting on one and I like a tad more than my veritas. You can nab a Veritas micro or a winch model on walmart.com for $70 though.
  8. I've never used these lures, and don't know what to look for when buying them or how to really use them. We have very few good shallow spots to use these in my lake, so it's one of those baits I've never felt the need for. Until now. These are the hot bait out on our lake right now, but I'm clueless lol. Any info and advice is appreciated.
  9. Yeah the Rage Shad is amazing. I couldn't believe how it performed the first time I used it. Couldn't believe it was a soft plastic bait making all that noise. I use the smokey shad color and silver bling.
  10. Believe it or not, the best producing worm I've used on a shaky head has been the Yum F2 ribbon tail slightly trimmed down. Also, the Kriet Squirrel Tail worm by Big Bite is awesome as well.
  11. I love the double willow configuration. One gold, one silver. I like the "slow" willows, as you can really keep the blades moving through the whole range of the retrieve. Also, ALL types of blades provide adequate flash and vibration to catch fish in my experience. Some swear by willow/colorado or vice versa though. It's all what you're confident in using.
  12. Not to hijack the thread, but do you guys always use trailers on a spinnerbait and a boogee/chatterbait??
  13. I have 3 combos and that's it. I don't get into having a rod for each bait, or a certain gear ratio reel for specific baits either. I like to have stuff that is an all around set up. Versatility for me is big when it comes to my gear. As far as tackle goes, I'm pickier about what I buy now. I'll have a bunch of stuff in my basket at BPS within the first 5 minutes, and I may walk out with half after thinking about what I'm buying. The bait monkey will bite every now and again still, but not as much as before.
  14. I have 3 Veritas rods, and all are still in one piece. Not sure how folks are breaking them.
  15. I like Yum F2 ribbon tails in black neon. Caught more bass on them than any other brand.
  16. I'm trying to get some more fall baits, but I don't really know where to start. Any suggestions on what to pick up are appreciated. Thanks.

I barely texas rig anything now that I've tried the Rage Rig.
  18. The only combo I have matched up is the Gen 3 Revo S and the Veritas. They look great together, but more importantly it's a lightweight balanced combo that fishes great. Some manufacturers balance their rods to go with some of their reels, but that's not the norm.
  19. I've got the 1.5 in blue gill. They also make "neon blue gill" which looks good too.
  20. I find it telling that no one mentioned the smokin rooster. Out of all the RT baits, this is the only one that just will not produce for me. It looks great in the water but the bass won't hit it. My favorite is the Rage Shad. Tail up on a 5/0 gamakatsu. The anacondas are money too.
  21. Chartreuse spinnerbaits have been kicking butt for me too. Been using double willows.
  22. I'm an Abu guy but the Okuma Trio has blown me away. That reel is super smooth and has an amazing drag. Best $50 you'll spend.
  23. I usually try to "match the hatch" but our lake has stained water so chartreuse xcalibur xrk 50s and red eye shad is what I use most. I found some of the xcalibur xrk50s in the wounded series and have been lighting them up with those.
