Was just at a seminar by Gerald Swindle, he recommends that if the mat is not popping" baitfish, bream and other life" keep moving until you find an active mat. This may help.
  2. I did caught a 6 lb small mouth below the Guntersville Dam on Wheeler Lake.
  3. Fished Lake Guntersville today and was able to catch about 20 nice crappie and my partner was able to catch about 6 more. He just will not listen to me when I tell him he needs to use 4lb test line. Anyways was a good day on the water, especially considering the cold front that came through yesterday.
  4. I agrre with crestliner on the B n' M poles, also love the teeny rebel crawfish, they are great smallie lures.
  5. Probably not really a river, but a creek that I fish in south central TN the only bait I carry is a rebel teeny crawfish, usually catch between 30-50 fish per trip. Not usually large fish but great fun and have caught up to 3 lbs.
  6. Plan on fishing thru the winter, used to deer hunt but got my boat this Sept. and haven't really thought about hunting. Just caught a nice limit of crappie this AM.
  7. Thanks guys for all the input, and yes I'm happy Tom that was awesome, would have never thought about that one. Really appreciate the help.
  8. Thanks for the input guys, I can't believe there were no suthen jokes. Boy these guys like those Shimano's, The Dick's near me has the Shimano Sahara2500 for $49 is this a good deal.
  9. Haven't tried it yet but just put Vanish 12# flouro on my crankin rod. 20# Trilene XL for topwaters. works well on top. If using 1 rod for both types definetly do not use flouro "sinks ".
  10. OK, so I have been plannin to upgrade my current equipment, and have been doing quite a lot of research. I have seen a lot of recommendatios that you should buy all your rods from the same manufacturer and all reels from same manuf. Do ya'll ( yes I'm from the south) think thatthis is important and if so why. Also what is the consensus on the rods from Wright and McGill made for Skeet Reese. While he is not my favorite fisherman I do like the look and feel of those yeller rods. Thanks for any input
  11. Was able to fish Lake Guntersville yesterday for crappie. Fished from 6 am til 9 am and caught my limit on a 1/32 oz Monkey Milk Garland Baby Shad about 8-10' deep. Most were in the 10-12 inch range. Not sure what water temps were but air temps started in the low 30's. Awesome day!
  12. I also bought this combo.Haven't been able to use much but seems like an ok setup. Use for mostly lipless crankbaits and buzzbaits
  13. Thanks for the help so far, at work right now but will try the primer test when I get home. Keep ideas coming, I'll post when I figure out what this problem is. Again Thanks
  14. No it does not, Is it hard to replace if thats the problem
