  1. Trout can reproduce in lakes but not all types. I don't have a problem getting a trout stamp. To me if I can help support something that helps others get into fishing them so be it. If I am really that concerned I can fish other places that do not require a permit.
  2. Ross does make a nice reel....I had a Ross Colorado that was given to me by a guide and that thing lasted forever. Still have it and even break it out once in a while.
  3. I have a helium cranking stick and i really like it....to the point that my next rod of any type i am going ot give them a whirl over my beloved St. Croix rods.
  4. Fly reels for trout and even bass fishing are a curse. You really don't need anything fancy because it is nothing more than a line storing counterweight for the rod but a well made fly reel is a thing of beauty....my sage bass II just wouldn't look right without a lamson and my 7wt XP would feel wrong without my Galvan Good luck and get what you want and like and you will be more than happy
  5. I have an older one that was decent but not worth 150 so not sure what this one is like and the one i had is probably pushing 15 years old now.
  6. Also be sure to check out www.sierratradingpost.com for deals. They always have great deals on reel in there.
  7. Pony pasture is good but gets a lot of pressure so the fishing can be hit or miss. I prefer doing floats a little further up river with the scottsville to hardware being one of my favorites. Take a look at the VA DGIF website and look at all the bat landings and have at it. If you are bank bound you can wade from pretty much every launch at least a little ways and have some fun catching a few bronzebacks. good luck!!
  8. I like Lamson myself but there are a lot of good reels out there. Honestly though in fishing for trout the reel is somewhat irrelevant as it will only store line in 99.9% of the fish caught. I am also surprised that someone liked the predator....when i cast it i hated it. Had no feel and felt like a broomstick, was to stiff. Now the Sage Bass II series...that is a different story and one of my favorite sticks of all time.
  9. Jsut a way to organize your tackle and potentially rods depending on how you have it set up. I don't fasten mine down to well other than the standard bungees in teh back of my boats that i just use to squeeze it. Now when on the river i will bungee it down a little better in case of turtling....
  10. If that is the case, then i would go for it without hesitation. I do wonder though if it is the exact same as all Sage rods are made in the US and Reddington are made in Korea i believe. For the price though, it is worth at least trying it out.
  11. Now if you can confirm it is a sage XP, since they bought reddington, then I would get it in a second. I have a 7wt XP and I love that rod and actually would probably pick up one to add to my own collection as well
  12. Never fished or cast that one....sorry.
  13. I have a 6000 that I used for stripers this year and it is great.
  14. He has the stuff just a few bad outings and minimal run support this year. I would bet he is the best 2-9 pitcher ever lol.
  15. I like the idea of getting of papelbon but he is so automatic in a save situation. And brown for MVP????? Dude is on fire!!
  16. Sounds fine to me.....a guy like A-roid should be banned from the game not for PED use but for his stupidity and arrogance after the fact. There have been a lot of guys who used and then said yup i did it and i moved on but he fought it all the way then finally admitted it when he had no other choice and said he was gonna go clean and now this.....Braun on the other hand got off on a technicality and he knows it. If i was commissioner you get a 100 game suspension for the first failed test and yoru contract has a club option to be voided and 2nd failed test your are out for 3 years of any MLB baseball at any level. And how about those phillies......pinch hitter Mayberry to tie it with a HR then a walk off grand slam in extra innings....completley crazy but it is against the marlins...
  17. Well i have bee nkayak fishing for a few years now and owned a few boats and there really isn't that much to figuring out what you want for your first yak because i can almost guarantee that you will want something different as your skills and experience increase. I see you are from VA and ther ejust happens to be the best demo days ever coming up this weekend at Appomattox river company in Farmville. http://blog.paddleva.com/category/events/ I know it will be a little bit of a haul for you to get down there but you will probably not ever find a spot where so many boats and so many knowledgable pro staffers and reps alike will be in one spot. Oh, and you will get to paddle pretty much every kayak you could imagine, which brings me to my first piece of advice: 1-paddle a few different boats Each boat has different stability characteristics and seating postions. If you have a boat that is uncomfortable in the seat after an hour just imagine what that will feel like after 6-7 hours on the water. 2-Figure out where you will use the boat the majority of the time--and be honest with yourself. It is easy to have all these high hopes offar away places and situations but if in all reality you will be fishing lakes more often then a river boat like a coosa or a ride 115 may not be your best bet 3-Figure out a budget-And keep in mind you will need a PFD and a paddle so account for around $150+ depending on what you want to spend and also how are you going to trasport the boat, car top, rack truck bed?? 4-Have fun!!! Also you do not need to spend huge amounts of money on your first kayak. My first kayak was a Heritage (now native) redfish 12' sit on top that i used for an entire season on rivers and lakes. I loved that boat but wanted something different so I sold it for $125 less than i paid for it and picked up a Jackson Coosa. That boat is great but not hte best for windy days or for longer days of paddling but on rivers i love it. Last year i added in a Wilderness commander 120, hybrid boat, to the fold for lakes and i love that boat too. Keep in mind too that while the name brand boats cost a little more than the house stuff from BPS, Dicks etc...their resale value is also much better. Bottom line is you want to find a boat that you are comfortable in, fits your budget and fits your style of fishing and if it gets you off the bank you will have fun. Next on my list is a pedal powered boat of some sort Good luck, have fun and above all else, ask questions as there are quite a few kayakers on this board that will be more than willing to help out.
  18. I always wondered about that lake....guess i will be checking it out soon
  19. It isn't easy but anything is possible. The thing that helped me out is not htinking of it as a diet at all. It is just getting healthier. I don't follow a diet plan but i stick to the basics. I do my shopping in the perimeter of the grocery store. This keeps away the majority of the processed high sodium foods which aren't healthy and make you retain water. I go with as many vegetables and fruit servings as i want and all the lean protein i can handle. Now i do work out so you may need to asjust your caloric intake if your primary goal is losing weight but high protein, low carb and high fruits and vegetables will get you on teh right path.
  20. I have liked Galvis since he was in the minors. He has a cannon for an arm and can play every infield position very well. Rollins is banged up a little but still playing. Really this team is so confusing to me it is ridiculous. I am glad that they are playing decent and have had to fight through injuries and they do have some minor leaguers that aren't quite ready yet but all is not lost....yet. As soon as it is, have a fire sale and begin to rebuild as painful as it will be after this recent run of success.
  21. Well that's no fun And don't sleep on Holiday.....probably one of the best young PG in the league and getting better every year.
  22. He has a no trade clause to about 20 teams i think and with the phillies not totally out of it i am not sure they will trade him, not to mention he has a lot of money coming to him and not sure how many clubs want to pick that up. I would be upset if they traded him again.... And how about Dominic Brown...they keep giving him meatballs and he keeps crushing them out of the yard. It will be interesting to see how much this helps Howard because they give him junk to hit and with a decent hitter behind him they are going to have to pitch to him. Reminds me of when Werth was hitting behind howard but Brown has much more power and actually better in the field in my opinion.
  23. I love them myself and am always psyched when i catch one. I am actually hoping to target them on the fly rod this year if i can find a place that has a good concentration of them.
