Orlando Bank fishing
Turkey Lake right next to0 the turnpike and Universal Studio produces big fish each year. The boat rental is the best deal around. Bank fishing is allowed all day with some interesting spots. Don't pass up Turkey Lake. I have fished it many times and always caught decent fish.

Florida Bass Fishing
It's not the one you see you have to worry about, it's the one you don't see!

Helping rookies. I love it
With so many people carrying guns today, a few stupid moves could be a nightmare for not only the one without, but also the one with. Court procedures and jail time could go on forever. You just have to use good common sense, and figure out is it really worth it!

Helping rookies. I love it
You did an outstanding thing for that guy, and he will never forget your generosity. I enjoy taking guys from fishing sites without boats out to fish, and have seen significant improvement from them over a couple of months. It makes me feel great if I can put them on fish and watch their smiles after the event. Years ago I thought about guiding, but mentally could not charge people if the trips were unsuccessful. That would not be good for the family income. Lol!

The cover you cannot pass by
Isolated cover on a flat is like a magnet for bass especially when the sun is high in the sky, and they are seeking out some shade. Bass don't use sunglasses, so shade is all they have on bight sunny days. On a flat, bass move to these isolated clumps. You may catch more then just one or two on an isolated clump, but because of predation they may be all the same size. If you catch a four pounder, there is a good chance another 4 pounder will be there. A clump of grasses with more then one type of grass, is even better. So Kissimmee grass with pads mixed in, can be magical. The greener the clump the better, it gives off O2 also, besides providing shade. Never pass up an isolated clump, it's always better than a huge grass field, where the bass will be scattered. A grass field next to a drop off is good. The bass may be at the base of the drop off but will stay close to the grasses as an ambush location, and a provider of food, like baitfish, frog, salamanders in the weeds. Never pass over depth changes adjacent to weed lines. These are two places I always look for, and target when fishing new water bodies.

Best advice to give newer guys
Don't leave home without it!

Best advice to give newer guys
Someone already gave this advice and it’s so true. Slow down, lots of fisherman fish way too fast for normal days. When you first throw out a plastic bait, you may scare the fish in the area. They are curious creatures and will watch it from a distance and then slowly move back in to investigate. That’s when a couple of twitches to show it’s alive and let it sit, may just do the trick. Don’t be in a hurry. Different days call for different tactics so change it up until you find what they want.

Dedication
Lol, every old time angler has had at least one morning just like that! Time to cut your loses and head home to a warm house! He gets an A for effort!

What lure would you use??
It’s hard to beat the Senko type baits. Sometimes they want it hopped off the bottom, sometimes just a shake and stop, some a subtle slow pull, sometimes a fast jerk especially through Lilly pads and shore weed lines. It all depends on the day, the hour, that moment. One thing I always do is let it fall on slack line, and let it settle before working it. To me I get bites on the initial fall. It’s up to you to figure that out what they want that day.
-
How do you shake your rod?
Catt it all depends on the mood of the fish that day. There is NO definite on technique. It’s all up to the bass. Try different stuff until you get bit. Then if it works twice you may be onto the pattern that day.

SE FL Bank Locations
I fish the banks of Broward County 5 days a week and hit the glades in the boat at least once a week. For snakeheads Plantation and Sunrise seems to be snakehead central. They love a frog close to the bank and moved quickly. I have caught a bunch this way. Bass almost any body of water have an amble supply. Look for areas with current like culvert pipes. Plenty of places to fish!

How do you shake your rod?
I would suggest you find a pool and test your techniques where you can easily see the bait move. I often shake my rod tip without winding and then slowly pull it a short distance and do it again. This works great with a Senko weightless. Lots of movement with very little forward motion. Works great on those tough days when they are not out chasing baits.

What lure would you use??
Go with a 4" senko type bait in watermelon red color, or Junebug. Dirtier the water and low light conditions use the Junebug. Use a 1/32 bullet weight for a slow fall and good movement along the bottom. Jerk and slack you can get a walk the dog action along the bottom. If the fishing is tough, slow down and just shake the bait and then a slow pull. I have caught bass all along the north east, mid west, and south to south Florida. It will catch a variety of different fish.

Gama hook failures
Gama's EWG are pretty good hooks which I have used for many years. They come in different wire thickness. I have had a few break in half, all thin wire version, and while hooking into a big nasty mudfish.

77 Year Old New York Jets Player dies in a fishing accident
I'm sure as an observer he would try to stick out any discomfort he was experiencing. He would not say, stop fishing and take me in. This might have been part of the problem. At this point time will tell.

Copperheads In Bass' Mouths???
I have heard these stories before. As for snakes in the water I see them in the everglades every once in a while. I have seen a rattlesnakes once in Ga in a lake. It kept heading for the boat instead of land and we started the big motor to keep our distance. After reading an article years ago, I always look first before putting a thumb in a bass mouth!

Bass eating bass (1st person POV)
Happens all the time. Small bass don't hang out with big ones for this very reason. Until they get to a certain size, they stay with like size bass. After that everyone around them is potential food.
- If I could only have 5 Baits these are the ones they would be.

Strange/unusual things you've seen fishing
if you saw a panther you are one lucky guy. I have heard them off the L67 islands, but never got a glimpse of one. Very secretive! i have seen tourists along Alligator Alley feeding a whole loaf of bread to a gator at the edge of the canal. I had to tell her she is putting us fisherman in danger, and that is against the law. She laughed and I called FWO to complain. I sent them a pic of her feeding and the car they were in.

One man small stable boats for small lakes.
Thanks for responding, the lakes are in Marietta and Milton Ga. between 200 and 500 acres. Both have dams with some deep water. Neither allow gas’s motors, and both are private. I would be sitting almost all the time. I’m 6’2” and 240 lbs. they both have docks but I would have to drag them up the bank when not in use. I just don’t want to go swimming while getting in or out. What about these PVC one man boats. Are they stable. I have seen them in two sections that bolt together.

Had my first accidental bass kill. How do i prevent this from happening again?
Lots of videos on the internet on how to remove the deep hooked fish safely. I do it occasionally, and it works the vast majority of the time. It's simple if you have the right tools always available. I have caught several bass that have recovered from some previous severe gill injuries. They are pretty tough creatures, living in a tough environment. Don't feel to bad if one dies. The few that don't make it will feed the food chain of the lake. Turtles, gators, birds, otters and other fish will love you for it!

One man small stable boats for small lakes.
I am retired and 70 years old. I have fished Florida my whole life from my bass boats, and still active fishing 5 days a week. Both of my kids have recently bought homes on different small Georgia lakes. Both lakes have a good population of bass. I'm looking for a small stable boat I can handle myself with only a small T/M. Neither lake allow gas motors. Any suggestions on what to buy, light weight but very stable, I appreciate any advice.

Miami River, North of Alligator Alley, Friday 4/23/21
Went with a good friend of 50 years. This is my first trip with someone else since the Pandemic started. We all have had our shots. We arrived on seen at the north end by 7:00. The first cast I had a PITA messing with my fluke as soon as it landed. These are exotics that pull on the tail and don't get hooked. Every cast we were both got messed with and every once in a while we would hook one of these small mouth exotics. The bass were not cooperating at all and after two hours of this constant aggravation we decided to move to another location. We ran south and then west along the Alley to the dead end on the north side canal. It didn't take too long and I felt a familiar bass bite. Unlike the little exotics the bite was solid and not machine gun taps. I set the hook on our first bass. It wasn't big but it felt good for a change. Soon I had another in the boat. This continued for a while. I think the river is so full of small exotics that the bass are full of bait fish, and not willing to attack our plastics. It was a great day just being out there with my old buddy and telling old stories of our wild, and crazy days. He is a retired Miami cop, and an X Marine from Viet Nam. Lots of stories, and I'm so grateful we are both here to share them.

How to fish two people out of a boat
If you are truly providing an equal opportunity for both people to fish the weed line. It is the responsibility of the guy up front to keep the boat at a 45* angle so both can cast to the target. If I have a wind from my back, I put out a drift bag and cleat off to the rear cleat, away from the target This automatically keeps the boat at a 45* and in stealth mode off the T/M. I love fishing weed lines this way, and I often fish with others in the boat.
