Jokes - Let's Have Some Fun
A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.” The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the quarters and leaves. “What did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns!” Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store. “Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?” The boy licked his cone and replied, “Because the day I take the dollar, the game is over!”

In Pursuit Of Giant Bass ~ One Man's Journey
I changed to a 1/16 oz split shot 12" up from the worm, just enough to keep bottom contact. Anyways, back to your reports, sorry for the temporary hijack.

In Pursuit Of Giant Bass ~ One Man's Journey
Oh don't worry I wasn't going to post all my stuff here and steal his thunder, I don't roll like that. At the same time I don't really want to make a thread with the same topic. I'll just post reports in my blog if you guys want to add me as a friend. If I catch a big fish I'll post a thread in fishing reports.

Meet And Greet On The Potomac August 24Th And 25Th
Speed, does your jon fit two or do I have to stick my feet off the back and kick? LOL On a more serious note, I would like to learn some swimbaiting techniques and tricks from you while we're there.

Meet And Greet On The Potomac August 24Th And 25Th
I'm pumped guys. I have some little livetarget 45T frogs coming Friday so I can learn the patience and levelheadedness needed to get a frog hookset, LOL. I miss like 90% of my frog bites.

Muddy Water
sounds like my morning today. after 2 days of rain the water was up a foot and a half and the fish were extremely tight to wood cover and VERY finicky. I had to soak a black/blue jig with a rage craw and big rattles (lots of vibration and noise) for 10 seconds between shakes, spending up to a minute per pitch. It did pay off though with multiple fish off of every stump and laydown. most fish bit after the fifth or sixth shake and pause. you really have to let them find it.

Swim Jigs.....set The Hook?
Sounds pretty suspicious..... you always need to set the hook on anything other than a dropshot rig IMHO. Not setting the hook on a swim jig sounds like a great way to let a fish spit it. Doesn't sound like she knew what she was talking about to me.

Short Arm/finesse Spinnerbait Options
Another vote for the siebert compact spinnerbait.

All About Topwater!
I keep it pretty simple with color selections. White for overcast days, black for sunny days. Spooks and poppers for open water, hollow body frogs for slop. Buzzbaits are either chartreuse or black, I throw those along weed edges and in wood cover under docks.

Casting Buzzbaits Frustration
You really have to cast them low to the water. I use a sidearm cast when fishing buzzbaits.

Jika Rig - When To Use?
another split ring.

A Sad Day
just curious, why did your line do that, and what kind of line? Would be interesting to see if the line got charged by the current in the air and was attracted to a forming lightning strike. I think you lucked out big time.

Kvd 1.0 Hook Change
split ring pliers= no more bloody skin and broken, sore nails.

Jika Rig - When To Use?
I love this rig. Its so much more weedless than a jig or texas rig. I make my own in 1/0, 3/0, and 5/0 size. The 1/0 is used on spinning gear, hence the lighter hook. I use superline hooks on the 3/0 and 5/0 sizes for baitcasting because I have lost good fish because regular gammy's straightened out (I love braid). The action is deadly with a floating bait. I use powerteam lures tubes and craws on them. Don't ask about the weight, it's from a damiki mausrin jig lol I never used em. I would prefer tungsten DS weights.

Choosing Color Of Baits - General Principles?
4 colors for me when picking soft plastics. Black/blue, green pumpkin, watermelon, and chartreuse. Watermelon for clear water, GP and black/blue for stained water, chartreuse for muddy water or really stained water. I don't bother with whether it is sunny or overcast.

Affordable Jigs
Another vote for northstar and siebert outdoors. You really can't beat a wire-tied jig with a premium skirt, invincible paint, and a good hook for $3.20. If you wanna go REALLY cheap, bass patrol and strike king bitsy flip.

In Pursuit Of Giant Bass ~ One Man's Journey
Great job being so patient. I don't think I could stand that. Your reaction to the follower was great. 3 and a half feet would be 18+lbs if it was a bass. followers turn into biters when they get curious. Make sure you have a potent attractent on your worm so tentative giants will taste it then suck it right it. Keep grinding, you'll stick a giant eventually. Have you considered a natural color for your worm?

Help Me Fish This Pond
Looks like a great place for a frog, buzzbait, or spook. Cast along the weed edges and work the bait. The buzzbat will cover water the best.

How To Get Sponsors
Great read and thanks for the tips. I currently have a soft plastics and silicone skirt sponsorship/pro staff agreement with two companies and it hasn't been easy. Jig and hardbait sponsorships are even harder to come by. Any tips for standing out among the hundreds of teenagers looking for sponsors?

Frogs And Walking The Dog
Not so much in completely open water, but when bank fishing I cast out 10 feet beyond the hydrilla mat line and walk it back until its 25% onto the mat, then I drag and pause/walk in open holes. Walking the dog keeps it in the strike zone longer and aggravates bass into striking.

Choose My Frog
The livetarget is my favorite frog. The 55T is the perfect size, 1 pounders and bigger will eat it. Most frogs have about the same hookup ratio IMHO. The tricky part is training yourself to set the hook when the fish has it and not when it blows up on it. If you don't have this completely down then you are going to miss 90% of the fish that bite in your tournament.
