My First Jig Rig, How Did I Do?
Spool it up with some 50lb braid and you should be good to go. Fish the jigs on the bottom and shake off weeds by popping your rod. When you get a double or triple tick on your line set the hook. Those booyah boo jigs are not the best for grass which you have lots of down there in SF. I would suggest you get some 1/2 oz swim jigs with a cone head design- they come through grass easily.

Favorite Drop Shot Baits
PowerTeam Lures 3.6" JP Hammer Shad. Killer little baitfish imitator, loaded with scent, durable as heck, and it floats, unlike some previously mentioned baits like the dream shot and kut tail worms. Sometimes something that sits like a real baitfish does gets more bites instead of hanging down from your hook at a 45 degree angle because its full of salt.

Lifting Update.
woof, woof. LOL. My dad is 6' 2". I'll keep that in mind.

Lifting Update.
I really need to start lifting. I'm 5' 6" and 110, 6% body fat. I'm literally a human twig. Just doing around 30 pull-ups, 50 curl-ups, and 30 push-ups a day in addition to a 3 mile run every night. I feel great but the muscle is just not going anywhere. Maybe its because of my Adderall (ADD medication that has a side effect of hunger supression). Any advice? My mom won't let me join a gym.

Should I Use #50 Or #30 Pp?
well I would rather get the skirt back and the jighead. I can use the skirt for other things and the jighead won't be underwater trash.

Not seeing this color in the craws anywhere..... only space monkeys and roosters.

Strike King Tour Grade Tungsten Slither Rig Weights
Try the new Siebert Outdoors punch jigs. I think you'll find they are a lot better. Wire tied, great colors, and only $5.75 for the 1oz weight version.

Braided Line Curse
well, to figure out how the line goes on the reel, take the cover off and start reeling. The line will be retrieved either clockwise or counter clockwise. Once you do that, put your spool of mono on the ground so that the line comes off in the opposite direction of how the line is reeled. This will eliminate most tangles. If you spool the line the same way that the reel retrieves it, you get tanglesYou'll know if you're doing it wrong because you will get line wrapped around the rod tip.

Should I Use #50 Or #30 Pp?
50. Why? Security. Jigs will come back with straightened hooks before it breaks. I have only broken off 1 jig, and it was an unbendable hack attack.

Braided Line Curse
^^ As Jrob said above, braid in the lower pound test (10lb for example) will easily snap off if it stops suddenly, especially if you have a bad spool. The way a spincasting reel works is that it has a small metal pin that holds your line in place while the reel is engaged. If the line catches on the pin while you cast, it might snap. Braid is usually best for spinning and baitcasting gear. If I were you I would stick with mono on the spincaster. You can avoid tangles by spooling the line opposite to the direction the reel retrieves line (clockwise or counter clockwise). Another method is to tie a swivel to your line, clip it to something solid like a tree branch, then pull from far away. This will stretch the line and remove any kinks. You have done the right thing by joining Bass Resource. This forum is a great wealth of information and all the members are very helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Braided Line Curse
Probably a bad spool. I have heard dozens of bad things about spiderwire line. Try power pro, it is all I use and never fails me. I would also advise you to get a spinning combo to spool up with 15lb powerpro braid. You will cast further and catch more fish by detecting more bites. Braid has excellent sensitivity.

Modifying Jigs
Northstar leaves the weedguards long so you can trim them to your liking. Push them down so they are on plane with the hook point and trim them where the back of the barb is. As for the skirts, trim them slightly beyond the bend of the hook and you should be good to go.

Pros And Their Sponsors
This is why 99% of the soft plastics I fish are made by the company I'm a pro staffer for. I actually believe in them and they work for me. The only other soft plastics I throw other than those are zoom flukes, yamamoto senkos, and roboworms.

Schooling Bass
Try everything. Flukes, senkos, spooks, poppers, hard jerkbaits, lipless cranks....... also, try a dropshot below the school of baitfish. Most of the time when smaller bass are schooling the big ones will sit below and pick off the dying shad that the smaller bass kill but forget to eat. If all else fails, catch a few baitfish with a #10 hook and a tiny piece of worm and use it for bait. Throw it along the edges of the baitfish school and a bass may come along and pick it off.

Paranormal Experiences
Well, she was watching TV and I turned it off. She went "huh?" and turned it back on. I did it again. At this point she was slightly weirded out and thought the signal was messed up. I left it alone for about 10 minutes, then changed the channel to animal planet which just so happened to be playing a ghost hunting show. (I had checked the guide earlier). I heard her gasp a little, and then I started flicking back and forth between channels, then turned it off again. I turned it back on and flipped to the ghost show a few seconds later and she ran screaming into the kitchen where my dad was. Then I went downstairs and told her about the prank. She was pretty relieved lol.

Asleep At The Fishing
Well, you can feel better in the fact that it was likely a small stupid bass if it was moving with your jig. Big bass will usually inhale it then spit it a second later. Always watch your line for the slightest twitch.

Roboworm's... My New Favorite.
Oh yeah guys another tip: the bags are not resealable, so cut a corner out of the top of the bag and shake a worm out when you need one.
