  1. set the hook at once? I use 1/0 octopus hooks and I have to wait a second after they bite or else I miss them.
  2. Nice to see another guy from my area
  3. I fish a lot of wacky senkos and they nearly always hit it on the fall. The line twitches, wait a second, set the hook.
  4. Merry christmas everyone! I just dumped out my stocking to find candy, a bitsy flip, and a pond magic spinnerbait. Can't wait to see what else I got!
  5. This article might help. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/one-lure.html
  6. I'd skip if my mom let me! Lol
  7. This is terrible. The only pond with fish in it is a 20 minute bike ride away, and even if I do go, I only have 45 minutes to fish because it gets dark so early and I don't get home until 4:00. Am I the only one with cabin fever? I can't wait until spring. Weekends are not enough!
  8. Thanks, I'll have to give this a try in the summer.
  9. I don't give up. I either fish until I catch a bass or my mom says I have to come home.
  10. thanks for all the links! I'll check those out.
  11. its got footrests. I'll definitely think about getting a kayak though.
  12. I have a very limited budget as a teenager, and i cant spend money for a proper boat. i have been a shore fisherman for 3 years but i want a boat so i can fish on larger lakes. i am looking at this pontoon kayak: http://creekcompany.com/product.php?productid=16323&cat=254&page=1. do you think that would be sufficient for my needs? i only need to carry 3 rods and a somewhat large tackle bag (holds 4 boxes). should i save up for it or something better? thanks, Cullen
  13. the bottom hook is the one straight in front of the hook eyelet when the eyelet is flat......if that makes sense....how weedless? depends on the application. ex. a squarebill crank is more weedless than a lipless.
  14. I've had a DT6 for a few years now. Its holding up decently, but the finish sucks. Half the paint is scraped off for about 15 fish.
  15. What would happen if you put a nightcrawler on a drophot rig? Would it just ball up on the hook?
  16. Strike King, Powerteam Lures, Berkley, Yamamoto, and Zoom.
  17. that's when you break out a jerkbait.
  18. I have a food chain story just like that. I was reeling in a tiny bluegill when a 12 inch bass smashed it, and then a 100 lb snapping turtle bit the bass in half. (We call that turtle Old Man Jenkins, he has been in the pond for years and he is easily 100 years old, 100 lbs, and 4 feet around.)
  19. flipping, and certain shaky heads.
  20. Use something with a bait keeper, or make your own. I don't buy expensive shrink keepers, just go to a hardware store and buy 6 feet for $5. It will last you forever. Cut a piece about two inches long, then make a diagonal cut. There's a tutorial from paycheck baits somewhere on youtube. I always use a keeper on straight shank hooks, because without one your plastics will just ball up.
  21. not completely sure. I saw an article on it in an In-Fisherman mag maybe 2 years ago.
  22. I can't go if its anywhere but the potomac.
  23. What rod, reel, and line (lb test, type) are you using?
  24. +1 on the bitsy bugs. They are awesome when the bass are suspending a few feet off the bottom, and for smallmouth as well. I put either a rage chunk of yamamoto baby craw on my bitsy bugs. Drag, hop, or twitch, depending on what the fish want that day.
