Pond Fishing Trouble
Maybe it is the pond. There could be an abundance of oxygen and spring water that flow into the pond. Water temperatures and depth may be a factor in the other two. If you get a chance try releasing some bass into the larger ponds and see if they adapt good. If the ponds are 6 or 7 acres, a bass may only have a couple of spots that they are happy with.

Being Told Not To Fish Here
In Maine, we have laws against anyone harassing sportsman in legal pursuit of fish or game. If they do so than they can be charged with a crime.

Rod Building, Changing Color On A Blank
Geez. Its not going to ruin the blank. You use rod finish, not appliance paint. I have built and sold rods for over 30 years, and some for as much as 1200 bucks. I also coat my fly rods, and they are premo. I am out of this discussion, do as you want.

Charger/battery Problem?
Now I am a fond user of Optima batteries, but you must understand that Optima marine batteries are not deep cycle, and are only rated as a # 24 size, where many deep cycles are rated #27, 29, and 31. Your Optimas should continue to work fine for motor starting, but be poor for deep cycle applications, as they will drain quickly, and give poor trolling motor performance. Get some deep cycle batteries, and you will see a change.

Pulling A Boat... 4X4 Or 4X2
Years ago, I went from a 4x4 to a 4x2 telling myself I didn't need a 4x4. That was a very costly mistake, and I got stuck a hundred times. It doesn't happen anymore, as I changed back to a 4x4, and now drive a 4x4 Tundra.

Best State To Fish
If one is targetting Smallmouth, Lake Winnepausaukee in New Hampshire is just the best in the United States. It is a 40 mile long lake with many shoals, crystal clear water, 365 islands, and tons of bass. Largemouth probably Okeechobee in Florida.

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
These pictures of bass cooked look good to me. I have eaten bass for 40 years, and never had a bad meal. The are other fish I like better, but a lot I like less. Why people shy away from properly cooked fish is beyond me, as they are mild and sweet tasting. It seems that no matter where you are in the country, there is some fish that is preferred over another. Me, I like most of them. I had Walleyes in Canada, and see what some of you say when you say you like them. They are great, but there aren't any in Maine. Most people in Maine grew up eating salt water fish, and that spoiled a lot of them toward fresh water fish. My wife made some baked Cod the other night and talk about delicious, it was great. But in Maine most people turn their nose up to it, over Haddock. In fresh water the best eating fish here is Bass. Trout and salmon are what I think turns off most young women. Improperly cooked. I will not eat Tallipia.

Rod Building, Changing Color On A Blank
It will not change the action of the blank, but you use the thinner epoxy, as the larger offshore rods use the thicker kind. You will see a better rod, and a much better looking rod. Yes you spray the entire blank, and coat the entire blank will thin epoxy.. If you look you will see both kinds. It will not add a lot of weight as mentioned by some. Do as I say and you will be happy.

Met My First Pro
Being an oldtimer, I also met some old time big bass pro's like Ricky Green, Tommy Martin, and actually fished with Roland Martin and Green. Some of them are a blast to fish with and have some good stories.

Will My Bass Come Back?
You should call Maine's fish and wildlife and let them know. I believe they are totally unaware.
-
Deepest Caught Bass
i caught largemouth in 45 fow, and smallmouth in over 100. The largemouth came off a rock ledge, an pig and jig where the smallmouth came in a rock bottom, and on a hopkins spoon.

Will My Bass Come Back?
Trout and salmon are cold blooded, but bass are a warm weather species.

Rod Building, Changing Color On A Blank
Not a problem. Get some Rustoleum, or other spray paint. I usually use black, but any color will work. Coat with a rod epoxy for a good job after paint dries, and guides are on. I have two I plan on doing this winter. I plan on changing the color. I have painted hundreds without a problem. light sand the blank prior to painting, and prior to clear coat. Use a rod glue, and finish.

Does Getting Skunked Bother You?
If in a tournament and i get skunked, I look to see what the winners did, and try to learn by it. If for fun, heck I have a good time anyway. Sometimes youre the bug, and sometimes you are the windshield.

Yamaha Owners ?
You are correct it is more like a hundred miles, seeing as 2 strokes generally get 2 mpg.
-
Yamaha Owners ?
You got to remember when you jump into the big 2 stroke engines, oil use is usually about 50/1 meaning if you go 50 miles you should use about 1 gallon of oil. 100 miles you will go through 2 gallons. Not only is gasoline expensive on big outboards, but the consumption of oils is another reason big motor owners start to thing four stroke. Most big motors will average about 2 mpg, while the four strokers avg around 8 mpg. Just something to keep under your hat.

Lowrance and Hummingbird have specialized in depth finder for 30 years. Garmin specializes in GPS units, but there simple units are quite good.

Transducer Question
Just think of it this way. The transducer must always be making full contact with water. When on plane if the transducer is off to one side, sometimes, air from passing under the hull causes the transducer to have poor water contact, giving bad readings. Lowering the transducer some and tilting just a bit forward can improve many situations. Only you know your boat and the placement of the transducer, so making some adjustments can improve you situation. Never ever cut the cable of a transducer to shorten it. That will create a improper electrical length, and will give incorrect readings forever.
