  1. It sounds like a timing thing with your thumb releasing the reel. What rod aand reel are you using? Perhaps that info may help us understand the situation better.
  2. It's great for crankbaits in the 10 foot depth and less range. I have mine paired with a Daiwa Alphas Ito. It's a very light combo. I also had a Zillion on the rod, but put the Alphas on it as it was much better in my hand.
  3. I picked up, and absolutely love, the 7' medium/regular for most of my treble hooked baits. I see a few others making their way home with me.
  4. This knot was literally a game changer for me. Since I've started to use it I haven't had a knot failure. Some people swear by the Palomar, but for me this is the knot I can tie the best, the fastest, and with ease in any weather conditions - especially on Lake Erie when dealing with rough water.
  5. Where did you get those knobs? Those look amazing.
  6. I just looked at their website, and they are still showing.
  7. This is when they work best for me. I'll use any spinnerbait as long as it's made by War Eagle.
  8. I got a great pair of scissors when I bought some Sufix 832 braid. They are great.
  9. Rough day at West Branch State Park today. Only got 2 bites all day, and one was a white bass that doesn't count. Finished with 1 fish, weighed 0.98lbs. My boater got nothing, so that was about the only victory for me today.
  10. Today's my first tournament of the year. Fishing at West Branch State Park today, and the nerves are in full effect. LOL. Hopefully, I'll be back later today with some good news. Tight lines everyone.
  11. Even without a boat there's many good places for fishing. The Chagrin River section of the metroparks is good. The Portage lakes system is also a good fishery with adequate shoreline access. Even Lake Erie can be fished with good success from shore. Welcome to Ohio, and more specifically the Cleveland area.
  12. If the hooks, or split rings, are rusty I will change them out. One thing you can do is throw one of those silica packets that are commonly included with electronics into your tackle box.
  13. I have been using Yo-zuri hybrid for 2 years now and I really like it. I also just started trying Izorline and am really starting to prefer that. I didn't have the greatest success with P-line, but I also didn't know about KVD line conditioner.
  14. I have the 7'3"MH MicroMagic rod, and works good for what you are looking for. It's a solid rod all around rod IMHO.
  15. That's like asking if you ever had pizza that tasted too good.
  16. I was going to say a 3/4oz rattle trap. I like the way you think!
  17. No trailer, or trailer hook for me.
  18. I usually tie on the hard baits/spinnerbait I want to use the night before. For plastics I put those on once I get on the water. I need to see what's going on before picking the shape, size, and color to use.
  19. I got my first magnesium reel (Daiwa px-r) and it is ridiculously lightweight. When comparing it to my Zillion it is about 3oz lighter. That's the #1 benefit for me.
  20. I'm not trying to start an argument with you, but this is what you wrote... The top hook being open. When that is in the tube there's a gap by the barb. It's my opinion that you don't need to bend out the hook, but if you feel it will help you then go for it. I've been using these hooks for some time now, and never have an issue in rigging them effectively.
  21. The tube on the bottom - the one you didn't widen - actually looks like the hook point is sitting better. The top tube has a gap between the barb and the tube.
  22. You'll lose it a lot quicker if you do open it up. It will hang up on the first available thing.
