[Sigh] I Think I Do Suck At This...
Well, it sort of feels like I'm cheating by only using one lure :-) plus it get's boring fishing the same lure. I do enjoy pulling fish out of the water of course, but wish for more action with other lures...

[Sigh] I Think I Do Suck At This...
Oh I hope so! I have a canal behind my house and can't wait to throw a Jitterbug at 7pm or early morning and actually catch something!

[Sigh] I Think I Do Suck At This...
OK hear me out guys, because I'm a bit frustrated... about 15 years ago when I was in H.S. I remember fishing for bass on a lake in NY state, in the summer, from the shore or boat. All I ever used were 2 lures: Daredevil spoon (red and white) and a Jitterbug. I remember catching a ton of fish! Every time I went out there with family. Now fast forward 15 years, I'm back into Bass fishing, and I can't seam to catch skunk unless I use a senko. Mind you, I only been fishing again for last 2-3 months, so maybe it's the wrong time of year right now and senko is the only thing that work, but still. I'm a bit frustrated, because I don't want to be a one lure guy. I want to have fun working a worm on the bottom, frog on top, spoon in the middle, and everything else there is! Recently I got a ton of lures that people recommended and/or I've seen people write about on this site (see attachments, which don't even show half the stuff I have). And nothing I try works (ok so I did once get a small bass on a 10" pink worm). Only the stupid senko. Anyone here gives lessons? I'll pay top dollar

Mono Or Braided Line? Or Both?
http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/braided_mono.html LOL, ok let me read that first. But I still would like to hear YOUR opinion!

Mono Or Braided Line? Or Both?
Wanted to ask what most of you guys use on your spinning reels vs casting reels. I use 10lbs braided line with 2-3ft of 8lbs mono leader. This however get's to be a pain in the buns, because after changing hooks couple of times the leader becomes to short, and I have to retie it. Now, I haven't seen a single person on this forum post a pic or even mention braided line, nor do I ever see it when watching Fishing TV, so I wonder if it's just some gimmick invented to part a fool such as my self with his money?!? Should I not bother with braided and just use mono all the way? Though the reason I picked braided was because I've heard that it has no memory, can stay on a spool longer without becoming a mess, and apparently you feel strikes better and hook sets are better because the braided line does not give (which is why you see me sweating about harder rods and not harming the fish in every other post that I make around here). All those things sound great to me, but I wonder what more experienced anglers have to say about it. Please advise!

My Luck Has Finally Improved!!! Monster Bass Pics!!! 56K Warning!!!
do you think 7' medium action rod will also be suitable for catching bass? my fear is that rod too hard with line too strong will unnecessarily cause fish harm. on the other hand i know 6'6" light action will bend more, but will i still be able to comfortably bring a 5lbs or 10lbs bass if i ever happen to catch one? btw, my largest bass ever, 5lbs, was caught on a short 4 guide walmart special for $16 :-)

My Luck Has Finally Improved!!! Monster Bass Pics!!! 56K Warning!!!
I was fishing with a 6'6" Hurricane Redbone light action rod and 2500 size Shimano reel. This makes me wonder, should I take the 4000 reel off my 7' medium Redbone an slap a 2500 on it? I haven't yet caught a decent size fish on the setup I was using today, so I have no idea if it will be enough for a larger fish...

My Luck Has Finally Improved!!! Monster Bass Pics!!! 56K Warning!!!
In all honesty guys, I'm very happy that I got to go fishing with family and friends! We had a blast regardless of the fish biting, and the little bass was a nice bonus despite the size It was actually nice to finally catch one, after 4 or 5 times in a row getting skunked, so I'm not complaining, just thing it's funny because this was probably the smallest one I ever caught! I was surprised that it even bothered to attack a senko half it's size :-) in any case, it was a great day and regardless of the size, I'm happy I caught something from the bass family :-D Edit to add: my friend had a large one on the line btw, but it got off as he was bringing it in, so I know the fishing spot is good, and I can't wait to fish there again once the temperature and water levels improve!

My Luck Has Finally Improved!!! Monster Bass Pics!!! 56K Warning!!!
My friend is a lucky skunk with a LARGE pond in his back yard! Not much was biting today, but a slow and patient presentation of a 4" black senko created impressive results after 3 hours of fishing. Behold the grand pappy of all bass! See attached!

Getting Skunked.
No $hit!!! I've been digging through millions of lines of 15 years old C code at work for the last 3 weeks! Being on the water with a rod beats being a code monkey for sure!!!
-
Where To Go??????
I don't live in that area, but I would check out google maps and find canals or lakes around your house

Getting Skunked.
No worries, i got skunked again yesterday evening :-( BUT, BUT, BUT, i ordered some new lures from bass pro, and they are coming today (overnight delivery baby!!!) cuz i'm impatient like that! i got some flukes and 6" lizards both in green seed or something like that. but i think i'll have to try a larger canal, the one behind my house looks like it's going to be bone dry if the weather continues...
-
Do I Suck At This?!?
It sure is! I was fishing in the canal behind my house today, and yet again, I got skunked! Tried jitterbug, which got caught on some weeds, that's -$5 for me, as well as top water frog, and 10" pumpkin seed zoom worm. Not a single bite :-( Also, this time I didn't see any fish in the canal, I think the problem may be that the water level is about 2' below what it will be in the summer, looked like the deepest point was about 3'. Oh well, waiting for spring and rains to start...

Rod Setup, Tackle Switching Question...
Darren, thanks! You understood me correctly! I never knew about the speed clips, but it looks like it would help a lot! Can I use it directly on a J / worm hook too? If say I want to switch from 5/0 to 3/0 hooks? Or are they only really good for jitterbugs, poppers, etc?

Rod Setup, Tackle Switching Question...
Hi gang! So how do you rig your rods? I have a braided line with mono leaders and hook on the mono. One rod has a height on the mono, other rod does not. 3rd rod has a swivel for top water lures mostly. This however gets annoying because if i want to go with one rod, and switch from weighted worm to top water, well, i gotta cut the mono and redo the rig. What's your solution? Separate rods for different setups? Or do you just deal with swapping setups while fishing?
