  1. So I went to the Riverside park today (corner of Coral Ridge Dr. and Southgate Blvd). I was there for 4 hours casting my Senko and other lures. I caught ZERO fish. Had one Bass bite. Weak! Lame! Gonna try a different spot next time :-)
  2. So I upgraded my Bass setup today: got a second Hurricane rod, 6'6" Light action and I used my Shimano Sonora 2500FB reel on it with 10lbs braided line. The 7" Hurricane Medium Heavy action rod I got last week was upgraded with Sonora 4000FB reel and 20lbs braided line :-) Also got a tackle box and few lures etc! See picture for details! Martin

  4. btw, I did read the last post in my link :-) it's just that I'm so new to all this that is sort of went over my head :-( i had to go out and actually use the rod to understand the action and heavy light things. now that i actually used a different rod i understand the difference in stiffness etc. his comment only made sense AFTER i tried the new rod out, and i think i'll be getting a second one :-) anyways, thanks for all the info and advice guys! Martin
  5. yea most fishing i'll be doing will be sitting on a side of a canal :-) i'll get another rod in Medium, or a 6'6" in ML and another reel like i already have :-) thanks for advice!
  6. exactly what i needed to know! thanks :-)
  7. Hi Guys! So I got a new rod, discussion here: It's MH action, 7". I tried it out today, haven't actually caught a fish yet, bit it feel a bit stiff when casting, and I worry it may be too stiff for a Bass. Do you think it's a good rod for Bass fishing in FL canals, or should I get another one? The same company makes 7' rods in Medium and Medium Light, as well as 6'6" in Light. If I wanted to get a second rod that's a bit lighter, which one would you recommend? Medium or Medium Light? What would you get as a second rod for smaller fish? Thanks! Martin
  8. Hi Gang! I just walked out of Sports Authority with Hurricane Redbone 7' Medium-Heavy Action Rod (RB-456), Shimano Sonora 2500FB reel, Power Pro 10lbs braided line, 2 poppers, and a fresh water fishing license... $150 because everything was on sale 25% OFF :-D This is my first serious Bass fishing setup. Going to rig it for Senko tonight and keep my Walmart special for popper action. So how did I do? Am I a sucker for paying so much for hardware, or is this a respectable setup that will last me for years to come? Thanks! Martin
  9. So how do you catch this illusive peacock? BTW, where do you normally fish for Bass? Somewhere in the Coral Springs area? I'm going fishing this Sunday, perhaps we can join forces? Martin
  10. Thanks SirSnookalot (awesome screen name btw!)! Coral Ridge Dr is just few miles from where I live so that's perfect (I'm west of University Dr. on 19th Street, right south of Royal Palm Blvd). Did you catch anything big in that lake? It looks directly connected to the Everglades, so I hope there's some nice Bass there :-) Martin
  11. Hi Gang! I'm an amateur angler who loves catching bass on top water or senko lures in FL canals :-) Martin
  12. Hi guys! I'm looking for a good fishing spot for Bass in Coral Springs, FL area. I live around University Dr. and Atlantic Blvd. I've been fishing on a large canal on University right south of Atlantic Blvd. But are there any better spots in the area? Thanks! Martin
