  1. Yeah I have not heard of any big fish yet, but in a couple years I bet it starts to produce well. I think they opened it for fishing in 2008, and filled it in 2006 or 2007. Probably 3 or 4 year old fish.
  2. i dont do anything to my gas motor. i myself use my TM to get my boat back on the trailer, i know others do not. wear shorts, worst case scenario youre a bit wet on the ride home. ill also note, watch the water in front of your trolling motor, there is heavy brush out in the middle of the lake where you would never expect it. And thank them later for leaving that brush ;D
  3. I am pretty sure you can leave the gas tank, just not fire it up. As far as trailering your boat yeah I would say trolling motor is best option. Get a good run at it I guess at least until you could get the cranked hooked up. I have a small boat so I do the heavy lifting.
  4. Welcome from the Kansas side!
  5. Thanks for the report bluebasser86. Sounds like we all got about the same feelings about Gardner. It is also shaping up to be a good group of KC fishing reports. Keep up the good work gentleman! Hope to have a Hillsdale report for you Sunday morning.
  6. I didn't go to gardner all year because the last two years have been really slow. I heard they had LM b disease as well. For that reason I have stuck to Kill Creek, Lake Olathe, SMP, and as of late, Lake Lenexa. I really like Gardner and hope it comes back, I will for sure check the spawn there next year. I have caught good fish there in years past, but as I said the last couple have been slow. I really look for lake lenexa to heat up in the coming years, a great little lake perfect for my 9 ft bass magnum.
  7. When I was wacky worming I was trying all depths, cant remember my sweet spot. What have you been throwing around the trees? I did hit up hillsdale last night and landed a 3lber and a ton of white bass and walleye.
  8. Where were you fishing? I am waiting for that day when they get back in the shallows as well...this summer has been so hot. Would love to get back to my strengths, which definitely isnt deeper water.
  9. Went to kill creek today. 0630 to about 0930. Hit three right off he bat with a lucky craft sammy close to the spillway bridge. Nothing big but i was feeling good. After 30 minutes I went to the shaky head in the deeper trees, again hooked up a couple but nothing huge. Spent the rest of the time hanging in the deeper trees throwing wacky worms, and numerous texas rigs. Had a decent day with 8 fish but not that 5lber skunked says lives in there! Then watched the Chiefs kick some butt, well not really but they won!
  10. Where did you catch that fish? Pattern?
  11. Where are these 5lbers at Kill Creek? was one of those yours skunked?
  12. You have done a great job! Really coming along nicely, keep us updated with pics. O
  13. This is a really nice thread guys. I have been passing by a bunch of mat lately for cleaner water, I am going to pay more attention to it next time and use some of these tips. Thanks.
  14. The Cabelas tires look good, did you check Tractor Supply on 119 and I35? They have good deals usually. That is quite a blow, hope it didn't cause any damage to the new boat.
  15. Nice find, enjoy your new boat!
  16. I am going to go out Monday for a half day trip. Trying to decide if I should do morning or evening. Leaning towards morning. I need some tips. Think I should stock up on some deep cranks?
  17. Where is this Trophy Country you speak of?
  18. Went out to lake lenexa today for about three hours. Was there about sun up, and started with some top water. Got a few slaps at the bait, but no hook ups. Then went with a lucky craft rouge style and caught a few non keepers. Switched over to the plastics after about an hour. Kept trying to target these deep trees by the boat ramps. Finanlly found a pattern with a senko rigged wacky style. I would cast it into the trees and just shake it as it fell. Caught two keepers, and about 4 more dinks. Felt good about finally putting a pattern together on the sunken timber.
  19. Welcome from overland park myself. Get yourself a two man boat there are about 3 or 4 on KC craigslist right now!
  20. a boat and a good fishfinder. drop offs and fish chasing bait fish. i didnt fish the bank at all. the same pattern worked at Lenexa lake last night. BTW...........if you see this boat out there and theres no one on the back, wave me down. ill bring you on. Nice I like that lake Lenexa, going to be a good body of water in the coming years. If I see your boat I will wave you down, I could learn a thing or two about reading my depth finder. What are you driving, I have a newer white 4 door Tacoma with a 8 foot bass magnum in the back!
  21. I was out at kill creek yesterday from about 6am until 9:30 or so and only caught a couple little ones. What is your secret? Out in the trees in deeper water? Bait? I am struggling out there lately. Deeper water is not my strength. Do tell your secret.
  22. Yeah it has been brutally hot in KC, either that or it rains on the weekend. Hoping to get out this weekend if everything goes as planned.
  23. Nice job, unreal construction on that G3
  24. yeah in my experience there I used a little 2 man boat, so it was easy to lug around. Come back to Kansas soon!
  25. http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/content/download/1055/5053/file/Brochure%20Mined%20Land%20WA.pdf There you go. I have been there, nice place, you should be able to find some nice banks. There is at least 100 different pits. Bring your bug spray and plastics.
