Hi all, I was looking into getting an Abu Garcia Revo sx gen 3 and an Abu Garcia Vandetta gen 2 (Medium heavy, medium action). Has anyone had any experience with either this reel or this rod? Are the good? Any problems? Would you recommend them?

Yeah, I was going to get the medium action one anyway. Also, what power would you recommend? Is this just preference?

I will be throwing 1/2 oz medium diving crankbaits. I will also be throwing some texas rigs and soft plastics. What's wrong with the Abu Garcia rods? I've heard they are good for crankbaits?

Hello everyone, I was looking into getting a new rod for christmas, but Im a little confused about the selection. The two I was deciding on are the Abu Garcia Vandetta gen 2, and the Abu Garcia Vengeance. Does anyone have any experience with these rods? Are they good? Any problems? Also, what action and power would you recommend for bassing with primarily crankbaits and a bit of soft plastics? One more question. what is taper? Is it the same as action? On tackle warehouse, it doesn't tell the rod's action, but it tells the taper. What is this?

One more thing, will a 2 piece rod perform any different than a one piece rod?

Also, does line weight mean the weight in pounds you put on the rod, or the pound test you put on the rod?

1. I have been told that the Abu Garcia reels were good, especially the Revo s, but when I went on Abu's website, I couldn't find the Revo s or the Revo sx. Were these models discontinued? 2. I have heard about "Gen3" reels from Abu Garcia, but their website says nothing about generations of products. Is Gen3 the latest generation? 3. Is a centrifugal brake or a magnetic brake better for someone just starting out with a baitcaster? 4. When learning to cast a baitcaster, how do you set up the brake system and the spool tension? 5. When casting a baitcaster, should you press the button when you are ready to let go of the line, or should you press the button before the cast, and just hold the spool with your thumb until you are ready to let go of the line? 6. Can someone please explain to me what taper, power, line weight and lure weight are when picking out a rod? 7. Are the Abu Garcia reels good for an experienced fisherman, but sort of new with baitcasters? I know it's a lot, but it would be greatly appreciated if someone could answer these questions.

Do you guys think that If I buy an Abu revo sx 6:4:1 and an Abu Veritas 6'6 these would be good with each other?

Also, what is action and what one should I get?

Hi there, I was going to get a new rod and reel, and I was wondering, for someone fishing for largemouth bass with primarily crankbaits, senkos and soft plastics, what length rod would you recommend, and what gear ratio? (I was looking at an Abu Revo sx and Veritas) Also, one thing I have noticed is that most spinning reels have the crank on the left side (because most righties fish with their left hand), but most baitcasters have the crank on the right side. Why this?

Hello all, I was looking at getting a new rod+reel. It would be nice if it were a combo, and fairly easy to use. Can anyone tell me the best baitcaster rod and reel? P.S I will be fishing for largemouth bass, primarily using crankbaits and some soft plastics.

Well I fish from a small kayak (I also fish from the dock) in the mornings for largemouth bass and the occasional smallmouth. I generally use crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and rarely soft plastics.

Also, what are worm binders and how do you use them?

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I would like to know what reel you guys thought was best for someone like me. I am a very experienced fisherman, having been bassing since I was 4, and I have always used a spinning reel. I have had no problems with it, however I have heard some good things about baitcasters. I am confused about what reel to get. Also, could anyone tell me the best baitcaster under $150 and the best spinner under $150? Thank you!
