On a new rod I got for christmas, underneath the reel seat where the power, and lure/line listings are, there is no action on it. How will I know what the action is?

Hey guys, I know this is a stupid question, but i'm soon getting a new reel (Revo S) in the mail, and I just wanted to know what is the percentage that something is wrong with it? I know it's stupid, but I HATE sending stuff back. Also, on one of my cheaper reels, there is a small, short grind every revolution of the reel. How do I fix this?

I know about jigs, but what kinds of trailers should you use with each kind of jig? Do companies make plastics specially designed as trailers? Should you take the skirt and trailer off when storing jigs?

Also, is the original Speed Spool good?
