sounds good (fstr385)..im heading out there tomorrow early at about 6am to do some atving n fishing..get back home at 1pm rest & get ready 4 new yrs. eve fiesta with the family..what i normaly do during the dry season & when i can fish/ride the whole day,early in the morning ill set up a lil camp deep in the woods,then after fishing & riding all day,ill come back 2 the camp,make a camp fire ,cook burgers n make coffee over the fire,ill rest 4 while and then pack up n head home..

this is funny i have a buddy thats lives in a really bad part of miami,i was over the other night at his place & some 1 popped out 5 rounds out in the street,i was freaking out laying on my belly in his apartment n he says ohh thats nothing new around here,there just kids messing around .but then he says my camping trip is super dangerous hahahaha.i never heard of black gangsters shooting at each in the everglades right hahaha.,,i find gators and snakes way more friendly..

im honestly super excited about this trip,im just waiting for the holiday to move on n to have a week decent weather,i dont care about a few showers just not 5day of down pours..ive donw this type of trip b4 just not alone

dam thats a bit far for u pal.margate to the racetrack with traffic thats a 2 hour trip 1 way,if u were closer it be cool 2 go out there in atv's & explore that area,i could show u all my fishin honey holes,all i ask is that u catch n release LOL, you dont want 2 drain the honey from the hole hahahhaa

yes ur right (fstr385),its an awesome area 2 explore n fish on ur atv.im an exploring junkie ever since i was a lil kid.i go on goggle maps n scout out canals,ponds & lakes deep in those woods & then go on my atv 2 fish them,many times ive had to chain saw a trail thru a forest 2 get 2 the fishing spot & every time its worth it 100%.in my experinces in that area, the more remote & out of the way the fish spot is the better the fishing.last winter i found a honey hole in them woods,id say the size of a swimming pool & 6ft deep.man that was heaven!!.there was bass 12 to 14in.gars.oscars.snakeheads & 2 my surprize mangrove snappers that were really dark in color..hey (fstr385) how far do u live from the race track? im about 1 hour away from it.

if u want great live bait & 4 free,buy a casting net & learn how 2 use it correctly,that ended all my bait problems.ive gotten my biggest n best fish with live bait right from the canals...good luck

parking is not a problem theres a dirt road that runs the length of the canal & open 2 the public,my suggestions is go during the week,early morning right when the sun comes up,thats when ive seen the most fish action..ive hooked up there all sorts of different fish many i dont know what they are, theres alot of small bait fish too..theres alot of wold life in that canal & the water is super clear..tho be careful,ive seen many snakes on the bank(almost stepped on a cotton mouth)& small salt water crocs too.and if you really want a fishing honey hole,theres (an L-SHAPED) canal in the woods cross the street from that canal,but it could only be accessed by atv/4wheel truck 2wards the power plant,u enter the dirt road @ sw 137ave,& make a left @sw 360street & go east 2the end of that dirt road,then turn left into the woods & this is where u need the (atv/4x4)cuse its all woods,dirt,mud,i only do this trip during the dry season in winter,last time i even had to cut a trail thru the forest 2 get 2 this canal.but it was 1000% worth it,FISH HEAVEN is all i can say..let me know if u need any info.im very experinced in that area...good luck..

i saw 1 time in the everglades a guy in a canoe catching big craps with a cross bow,he was really raking them in i tell ya...does any1 know if u can eat those grass carps?..ive heard of folks eating ;GARS; and they say its very tastey.

they made an awesome lil boat ramp there,if u have like a jonboat or canoe,dump it in & go up towards the everglades,thats were ive heard there the most fish action,ive always said that if u explore that canal it could be very productive,its about 20ft deep with clean waters,,good lucky buddy.

what ive done in the pasted to attract bait fish is,throw a hand full of fish food or even cat food in the water n the bait fish gather around by the dozens.it works awesome..

hey guys i wanted 2 share this with you all,i was out fishing the canal behind the homestead motorsports complex with my nephew, we were using worms,bread balls, spoons,plastic shiners etc..only saw a few small bass,but saw many large ( id say 15lb) grass carps,snook and a tarpon as well,lots of other good sized fish i couldnt identify..the water is brakish and it runs into the bay...has this canal been productive for any 1 here??

i was recently out by the value jet crash memorial site doing some canal fishing..i tryed a crap load of different baits all artificial,the 1 i got the most hits was my rattle trap shiner ,it got the most attention for all types of fish.for some reason that ahs been my most productive lure in fresh n salt water.

yes kids can talk up a storm when fishing & boating i assume that they r just super excited about it all,when i was 9 in 1980,my dad took me to bimini for 4days on a 24ft. boat he had,omg i didnt eat,sleep or shut, all i did was fishhhhhhh...i think the bonding that a family does with there kids fishing is priceless and remembered for ever.you guys r awesome fathers,big high5 2 u all.

ur right ( flyfisher ),since no1 else wants 2 go with me, and my nephew has been bugging me about going camping,fishing,shooting,i think its a trip that he will remember 4ever and great bonding between me and him since his dad passed away.i also gave him a lil marlin 22cal.rifle 4 his birthday n he is dieing to go target shooting.hahaha...(flyfisher) 4 some reason even tho we have not met,i would feel very comfertable doing this trip with you,i think u r very experinced as well.

hey guys thanks 4 the encouragement u guys r awesome..im still mapping out my camp sites and doing my final preps 4 this trip..i have another question i told my 13yr old nephew about this trip n he is facinated by it and keeps begging me 2 take him with me...what would u guy do take him or not?

dam even offered 2 pay for fishing permits geeeezz and not takers,,what else do we need to offer a case of whiskey and a joint too haha..going fishing alone is awesome ill say that,but maybe its just me when im in the middle of no where all alone,silly crap starts going thru my head,like if i passout,my boat or atv breaks down,,non sense like that and many times its made me come home a lil early..

i will also be carrying 2 fire arms for my protection, a 357mag revolver and a 12 gauge shot gun both with plenty of ammo on my boat also 2 cell phone,2 gps,a vhf radio and 1 epirb satelite tracking system & a lap top with wireless internet.

ive been having a very hard time for a while getting buddys 2 go fishing,boating,atving,hunting,shooting with me..i tell them just show up,ill put up everything, boat,truck gas,food,bait rods u name it,dont even bring a dollar in ur pocket n 4 some reason or other every 1 bail out on me..im really sick of it honestly..( whats going on)?,if some 1 offered me a deal like that id be the 1st inline,does this only happen 2 me or 2 others in this forum?....

what has always worked awesome 4 me both in fresh n salt water is,throwing a casting net n catch the same bait the fish eat in that canal or lake and just putting what i catch on the hook with a bobber or free line.,ive gotten eventhing and they bite fast too,a lil secret i do is i squish the bait fish a lil to cripple him so it looks like its dieing or sick in the water..man the bass,peacocks,snakeheads tear it up..live bait n feed then what they eat in that body of water,u will never go wrong..

Hello every 1,1st of all happy holidays and a very merry & blessed christmas to all in this awesome site...I need ur advice-opinion-help on this matter..Me and a few pals have been planing a 4 day fishing n camping trip for weeks now in the everglades and recently they all have backed out of this trip..its been my dream 4 a long time 2 spend a few days or a week in the wilderness fishing,camping,exploring .im really thinking n preparing 2 do this trip all on my own,im very experienced,well prepared,have great equipment..my wife thinks im insane!,,do u all think the same? would u do this trip alone if u were in my shoes?,,thank you so much 4 ur help i look 4 ward 2 reading all ur comments..god bless u all....( jonny )

i need 2 have everything ready the day b4,i go thru my check list..i even leave the boat hooked up2 my truck..if the day b4 the fishing trip things start going wrong, i think of it as a warning sign that the fish day is gonna suck..like if i invite 4 buddy & they cancel,if its gonna be a gorgeous day & the weather changed..if in the morning my trucks battery is dead or i have a flat tire..i know its sily but its thinks i think about,,lol

some guys consider using casting nets n live baits (cheating)..i really dont care when i go fishing i like 2 catch fish (fast n easy)..
