  1. Thank you for the reply, I believe The budget is going to be under 200.
  2. I generally fish from a kayak sometimes bank fish. I was looking into a fish finder for my kayak . I currently don't have any electronics so this will be my first. Any thoughts on a good entry level unit would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Ed
  3. Try to figure out when it is back lashing. At the start of the cast or after lure hits the water. If it happens before lure hits the water adjust line tension Knob, if it's after lure hits water adjust your brakes. Lighter lure to me go on a spin reel with smaller dia line. Dia. Of the line plays a big roll also . Smaller line tends to bury itself and cause backlashes as well. I recently learned this as I put on some flourocarbon . The dia of the line is to small and keeps digging into it self. I need to get some larger dia line.
  4. same here ! Alberto Easy to tie and excellent strength
  5. We'll Thank you for all the info and at $9.99 might have to pick some up and try
  6. I see that BPS has a great sale on fluorocarbon on 3/8/14 . I was wondering if anyone has used and please give everyone some feed back. I also searched and found that I read couple different sites that it is made by seaguar and its comparable to the carbon pro line. Thank you Ed Any info would be greatly appreciated
  7. Just watched a video with Aron Martens, he uses braided Dacron line for offshore fishing. Its lighter than mono or flouro ,you'll be able to cast farther and its fairly cheap. Bass Pro has a Megabraid Dacron. Has anyone tried this? Ed Looking for the video and I will post video . http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/fishing-line-last.html
  8. No problems with flouro ? Not that your ever going to have a fish take that much line anyway
  9. I searched this couple time and couldnt find anything. Getting ready to respool Some reel/rods with flouro. What is the best knot to tie flouro to Spool ? Thank you Ed
  10. I was wondering if anyone had issues using Mojo weights with fluorocarbon line. I never used flouro yet I'm getting ready to. Its my understanding flouro burns if rubbed witch causes breakage. Do we need to add a insert on these weights ? Thank you Ed need to add that I'm referring to the slide on weights
  11. I was thinking another way as far as weight. More weight may increase distance heavy being able to spin and keep its momentum longer during the cast . I m not going to say he's wrong , he is a professional fisherman when I'm just a welder
  12. I watched a video on *** about using braid line as a backing. Was wondering if anyone has tried this and how much more distance did you get out of it. They used braid for backing fluorocarbon line . I have used mono for backing putting braid on as a main line but never heard of using braid for backing. Thank you Ed
  13. I have some spidewire stealth 20 lb. on a spin reel works great and I have some XPS 65 lb. braid from Bass Pro witch is really nice also. I do hear a lot on this forum about 832 I will try that next .
  14. Kinda new to all but mono. Have some XPS Braid in 65 lb. for top water and frog works good. Also have some Spiderwire stealth 15 or 20 lb. on a spin reel that works good also. No flouro yet Suffix for mono seems really good Some P-line copoly little stiff but Dicks sporting good had a great sale over the summer pick up couple different ones. Still really trying different brands and such Ed
  15. I have couple different spinning rods. One has braid in 15lb test. Works Really good and sometimes I will throw on a co-poly leader if I think it will help and I only make it long enough so it doesn't go onto spool. Just my 2 cents Ed
  16. I have just recently started using braids. About 2 months now. I don't see any signs of wearing on eyelets. I have a spin reel with 15lb and a bait caster with65lb . The spin reel has Spiderwire stealth and the caster BPS . Knock of wood............. no wera issues on eyelets yet. Ed
  17. There both working better since I put heavier line on. When I first got them i had 10# mono on that really dug in . Ed
  18. I have 2 bait casters, one with 65 lb braid for top water & frogs another with 14 lb copolymer. If I go lighter I start getting issues with smaller line burying itself . What if anything can be done to stop that ? Line not tight enough when spooling it on ? They work great when you finally get a hang of them Ed
  19. I getting better with the bait casters I have . But I was watching some youtube videos and see anglers with looks to be lighter line and tackle ? would a senko be heavy enough used wacky style ? Ed
  20. Well thats a little odd since most if not all flouro sinks and braid floats. Line dia may have something to do with that , maybe IMO Ed
  21. Here's the link hopefully it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW1GvKicwko I have nothing against Power Pro. I just recently started using braid. Trying to be a smart shopper/Angler at the same time. ED
  22. I will look for it again . Not sure if it matter But I believe the gentlemen doing the test is a salt water fishermen. Ed
  23. Used it some today seems really good , better after it gets broken in sligthly. The spiderwire stealth on my spin reel may seem just as good. I did see someone do a knot test with 50 lb power pro. Had a flouro leader in 20 lb , the power pro broke at 20 lb . The knot was fine. Staying away from power pro
  24. I was looking to get some braided line on one of my bait casters and was wondering if anyone has used the Bass Pro XPS braid and what there thoughts on it are. I just recently put some Spiderwire Stealth on one of my spin reals and that seems to be working Great. Ed OK well I did go out and buy some of this line in 65 lb . I will let everyone know how it worked out
  25. Thank you for all the info. I tied a modified Alberto knot on a 10 lb mono leader to 20 lb braid . seems really strong , easy tie and looking forward to trying it out. Ed
