My worst one was a carp i caught from my kayak (not carp fishing). I went to grab it to unhook it from the treble hook on the lure i was using and of course the fish starts flopping around all over and i get a barb in my thumb. Now I am really mad first it was a carp then i get hooked. I found my pliers and started to grab the fish to un hook it again so i could get the hook out of my thumb. Once again fish starts flopping around and now the barb is in my thumb, I finally get the fish of the lure and go to pull the hook out and cant get it because it has now starting coming through the other side of my skin. I ended up cutting the one side of the treble hook off and pushing it the rest of the way through. Not fun but i did finish fishing that day.

I fished the blood knot all day today and it worked great. Only one thing it's a little annoying when the knot goes through my guides. This is the first time I've used a leader so I'm sure I will get used to it. Also had another question about leaders. How long do you guys usually make it and how often do you change out the leader?

I was doing some research and seems like that is the strongest one I have seen. I am using it on an *** black *** so it's not a micro guide rod. Thanks for the info

So I'm going to give the fluorocarbon leader a try on my braided line and I was wondering what would be the best knot to tie it with? Any suggestions would be great

I'm 5'6" as well and currently have 14 foot SOT kayak. I personally like the Sit on top as it is easier to fish from, I mostly think that is because of my height but just my opinion. I would sit in both types and see which one your more comfortable with.

I was fishing a small lake after the same day I bought a new spinning setup and got hung in a tree. While trying to get my lure back the the two piece pole i bought came apart. Luckily I got the lure loose so i could retrieve the second half of my pole from the bottom of this pond. Second craziest thing was a water mocassin trying to crawl up my leg while fishing one of our lakes here in VB. That just scared the crap out of me.

Hello all, Long time lurker and new member. I just moved to Virginia beach from San Diego and have found some fun ponds and what not around here to fish so far and am having a good time. Today though I had a wierd thing happen I caught a good 5lbs catfish on a small white spinner bait and I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Anyway happy to be a new member.
