For shaky head I use these - Avid 6'6" M/F paired with a Daiwa Lexa 12lb Yo Zuri Cumara 6'9" MH/XF paired with a Curado 50E 8lb Floroclear Airrus Ultra XL MH/F Spinning paired with Abu Garcia Cardinal Agenda, 15lb braid - that I'll use with a floro leader. - This is my favorite spinning rod (possibly change once I fish my new ML/XF Crucial), even though it's rated MH/F it really has a very soft tip and fights fish well. To me I feel acts more like a Medium. Haven't found a favorite lure yet, I'm still trying out different ones until I find the right one. I did buy some local guy shaky head and it looks pretty good. I'm itching to try it out!

I have more confidence throwing a lipless when I am fishing a river for some reason. Spinnerbaits I throw in lakes, I just think it's a confidence thing.

Last season (2012) was the first real season where I actually tried my hardest to bass fish. Before then I thought freshwater fishing was for wimps, I was an avid Saltwater fisherman. Pulling in sharks, linc cods, skates, even octopus...and was like HA, bass fishing how hard can it be? I tried half heartedly a couple years before that and I was skunked many times (just sticked with nightcrawlers and shiners). 2012 opened my eyes after I decided to take it more serious, I did a lot of research and decided to try out jigs first. The very first bass I caught was throwing a jig (Booyah I think it was some type of brown) with a ribbon tail worm on it. It was near a downed tree, it was only a 1lb bass, but the feeling of WOW came over me. This is fun, the feel was something I can't put in to words, all I could say is..I caught a BASS! To this day I still have the same feeling and the excitement to catch bass like it was my first. Now I know I was wrong and think Bass fishing is on a whole different level than Ocean fishing. Takes knowledge, skill and luck too...my only wish is that I was turned on to it when I was a kid. I'm still learning which I think is part of the fun, I have yet to have a very good day though like some of you guys have experienced where you get one fish after another. I would love to experience that some day!

I really don't see the benefit of using C line and adding a floro leader. I think if you're going Co Polymer or Floro there is no reason to have leaders on either. Braid is the only line I would place a leader on as some techniques/situations are better suited with a floro leader or mono. That being said, it isn't written in stone that you couldn't use a leader on floro or co polymer. Just do not see a benefit. I would say yes, I'd go with Floroclear and around 10-12lb test, try it out on your Mojo setup.

Personally I wouldn't mess with your Avids, I think you should buy another rod with the split grips you are most comfortable with and add them to your arsenal. If you decide you like Brand X better, you can sell your Avids for a decent price to fund another replacement rod. I am in the same boat, although I like using my Avids and I also have small hands nothing out of the norm just am a short guy lol 5'5". But I find the split grips to be more comfortable, I still love the Avids though just probably will be my second string guys. lol

I agree it's the wire arm like couple of others have stated most likely. I also noticed if you buy some brands of really cheapo spinnerbaits the wire arms are so weak that they don't stay true after a few casts. In the end they aren't worth it.

x2 I would agree too. A lot of under 100 and even under 75 dollar rods could handle frog duties in a heartbeat. As long as it has the backbone H/F or MH/F and 7'.

I fished with white braid and didn't notice any difference in catching fish. Of course I used it on my spinnerbait rod and didn't use it for any jigs or trigs. If I did I would've probably put a leader on it anyway.

They work wonders in the rivers I fish here in Ontario. I've caught decent size smallies using lipless cranks during the summer. I definitely would add them to your arsenal. I haven't used them much in the lakes though.

I used 50 lb Power Pro Braid with no issues for frogging and in flipping/pitching into heavy cover. So 50 lb is fine and strong enough to handle those applications.

It doesn't matter really. Sometimes I let it bounce off the bottom and do quick hops and start retrieve again and repeat. There is no wrong way imo to do any wrong. I've caught fish on the fall letting it go to the bottom.

You can use anything you want really. I basically use anything that would give a lot of movement (curly tails, ribbons, craws, paddle tails..) Only your imagination can limit you.

HAHA I do the latter part all of the time, the former can't say mine is elegant or seductive.

What is your budget? The Avids are good rods, the only thing personally I'd get would be a 7' MH for a more versatile rod. Depending on your budget and wanting to upgrade, I would give the same suggestions. Personally own Cumara, Crucial, Aetos and GLX. Crucial would be more on par with the Avid. So I would try it out the other three.

I would also second a MH rod, I used a MH Veritas 7'3" and Avid 6'6" for bigger worms. I would also think the 7' would be a better all around rod, because of the hook setting power of a 7' over a 6'9 in deeper water.
