  1. I know what you mean! I'm from Syracuse, so obviously I've experienced the same thing. Last year water levels were so low... with our luck there will be too much water instead of too little this year... normal would be great! if it means waiting a little bit to fish, so be it. I hate to see fish populations and other ecosystems thrown off so much because of a weird year...
  2. Thanks! I actually did get a hit on a tube there once...
  3. very true, very true. a gradual increase would help!
  4. is anybody else in the northern states hoping that we get a good few weeks of 60 degree weather to get the bass biting? I sure as heck know i am... SICK OF WINTER!
  5. the Texas rig catches everything, doesn't it!
  6. great, thanks! i've always wanted to utlize shakey heads more...
  7. gotta love new york! *coming from someone who fishes the erie canal in syracuse*
  8. great story man! i tend to to a lot of pond searching with a friend also. We found this one pond that used to be part of the Erie Canal (which we also fish) and it turned out to be full of lunkers! The best part was that they would hit anything. I threw out a ribbontail worm WITHOUT the tail part (really just a chunk of plastic) and a two-pounder hit. We've seen pike in there too. It was just a really great find!
  9. thanks, great idea! not sure if night fishing is allowed but i'll find out!
  10. I love to hear a good fish story. But not just any story; one that is moving in ways that us fishermen know, yet can't seem to describe. Those that make you want to go down to the lake in the early morning summer mist and make a cast to those beautiful shadows below that we call bass. Those of the good ol' days, casting a worm with our fathers, and grandfathers. I think we can all agree that these kinds of stories are great, so would anybody like to share some of their own?
  11. all so true! i'm fine with it, as long as i dont miss the strike!! i think that fish have somewhat of a 6th sense, (7th if you count the lateral line), that allows them to do this. it's just one of those little things that make fishing so enjoyable!
  12. thanks! i do plan to use stickbaits a lot more this upcoming season, so i'll try those techniques with some of those stickbaits. flukes sound like a good idea too.
  13. what i would do in your case would be to log on to google maps/earth. scan the area around you for bodies of water. it may sound simple, but by zooming in and doing a thorough search, you will be surprised with what you find. I live in central new york and have done this many times. by doing this, i found one of my current favorite hot spots. try it. you just never know.
  14. thanks! i have gotten rare hits on tube baits and weightless ribbontails, so i'll experiment more with those!
  15. I love to fish Green Lakes State Park in Central New York. The lake there has about 15 ft visibility (CRAZY, RIGHT?) and is home to VERY finicky, yet large bass. There seem to be two types of bass here; ones that cruise the shoreline looking for a meal, and those settled on lay downs along the shore. The settled bass seem to be much more active, but harder to find. I fish exclusively from shore, as no boats are allowed. Any suggestions for lures or techniques?
