Muddy Water Blues
I could try that, but idk if they would have much info. it isn't really recognized as a fishery, so nobody really keeps track of it. I could try it though.

Muddy Water Blues
Tons of carp. but still, I know some bass will be biting, it just won't be very consistent. wondering why the water stays so muddy for so long...

Muddy Water Blues
Hi all, Help!! The water i usually fish (Erie Canal, Syracuse, New York) is usually quite clear during the summer and late spring and is great for sight fishing. We had a pretty wet April this year, but every other water body has gone back to normal in terms of clarity. From experience, the bass tend to be difficult to catch at the canal when the water is muddy. We've had a good dry 2 weeks now... AND ITS STILL CHOCOLATE MILK!!! Does anybody know of the possible reason for this, or have this happen to them with a certain fishery? Any advice and/or knowledge is appreciated.

Maple Buds And Bass?
Hi guys, I just noticed today that the maple tree outside my kitchen window is beginning to grow small red buds that fall off the tree frequently. Anybody know of any superstitions of plant life connecting to bass activity? I've heard that sometimes when certain flowers bloom it signifies the right temperatures for fish to start getting active. Just was wondering if anybody had heard about things like this that they wanted to share. Maybe this means the bass are ready up here in Upstate NY!

Clear Water Baits?
He said this advice perfectly. CRUISING FISH AREN'T BITERS. last year in one clear, deep lake that doesn't turn over, I made good casts to at least 50 cruisers without a bite. I like to focus on fish that are holding on laydowns, usually with green pumpkin worms and jigs, and tubes. i fish from shore, so I am even more limited.

On The Water Snacks?
water. then I usually take a Nutella sandwich on a flatbread. doesn't take up space, not messy, and it's also quite filling so I don't have to eat so much. doesn't really have to be kept cool.

Need Erie Canal Fishing Tips
i fish the canal, though not in your area. i fish it in Jamesville, just out of Syracuse. The bass fishing there is top notch. I'm not kidding. great, great fishing. You can pretty much cruise the banks and sight fish for them, usually with a texas rigged worm or a spinnerbait. they average about two pounds, but i come upon 5 and 6 pounders consistently. of course, they're much more difficult to catch Pickerel are in there too, just an overall great fishery for me, not owning a boat!

Bank Fishing - Search Bait
I am an exclusive shore fisherman and find that I like certain baits for covering water as well. a spinnerbait is my first choice, but you should also check out chatterbaits. they have a great action and throw out a ton of vibrations and flash. I don't usually use the big ones, however. if you can find them, I believe that the "mini chatterbaits" work better and are slightly more bite sized. I often have that as a search bait, and it really brings fish out from cover to hit it. many times, they will follow it but not hit it, and that's when I follow it up with a more subtle presentation, like a Texas rigged ribbontail or a creature bait like a baby brush hog. this system allows me to find bass quickly and if needed, slow down and tempt them into biting. if they hit the chatterbait or spinnerbait, which they often do, then that's a bonus!

Ice Out Fishing
Many of us (especially those like me up north) are anxiously waiting for the ice to melt so we can start fishing again. Most will drool at the sight of thawed water, but do we dare fish it? That early, cold, green water seems so intimidating, so unlikely to hold fish. but sometimes, it does. that being said, what are your favorite ice out strategies? where to find the fish? what to use? I'd love to hear some ideas, as I would like to be successful as early as possible!!
