  1. Still no token but I'm fishing today so how about we all just write "YakAtak" on a piece of paper to be in view of all pictures of fish? The date could also be included. If anyone else wants a different setup just say so I just need something for today
  2. So I guess we're doing this? If so what's the token?
  3. I don't know about you guys, but I watch a lot of fishing youtube videos and am subscribed to pretty much all of the popular bass fishing channels. So when you watch these videos do you like to see it from a hat cam/ angler pov or from a camera showing the angler doing the fishing? I was thinking about picking up a gopro and making videos myself, just for fun as I like doing stuff like that, and was curious on what other people like as far as shot angles/ pov.
  4. Alright, yeah I agree it'll be easier and the guys on here come off as honest people to me. As I think most fisherman are that way from my experience. Now I just need to buy me a hog trough lol
  5. So just to be clear. For example let's say I fish Saturday and sunday (2nd and 3rd). Should I post my limit the night of the 3rd, or is everyone to wait until the final night? I understand we're going off the honor system, but anyone could just pick the last day and fish all week without any way to tell. I can only fish on the weekends usually so I'm pretty much limited to the 2nd and 3rd and can post my catch whenever. I'm just trying to get a solid grasp on the rules for myself and anyone else to avoid confusion
  6. So it will be 1st-8th? And will the token be posted here the night before the 1st? And we post our best 3 or 5 on the night of the 8th?
  7. So you can fish any number of days within that time period?
  8. I used a 7' mh/fast rod with 50 lb braid for years with no issues at all. I hauled fish up to 5 lbs out some seriously nasty stuff, just keep pulling and winching. A good reel is a must. Never had a problem with hooksets, and working the frog is easy with a rod like that. I'd say go for it you'll be fine
  9. Hey, haven't been on here in a while but if this is really happening I'm in for sure. Sounds fun, just need a set in stone rules/ guidelines list.
  10. I'd say a ***. 7'1 med or mh should do whatever you need it to and they're sweet rods for the price
  11. I've got the 7'1 mh. I've pitched 1/4oz trigs and jigs and it's worked fine around wood cover. Plenty of power so far with fish up to 5 lbs
  12. I really like 4" wacky rigged senko. Or a shaky head
  13. I've got a revo s (2nd gen and 3rd gen) and a pro qualifier, and have fished speed spools. The revo s is a solid reel, but I'd probably go for a pro qualifier or a speed spool if I were you. Great reels for a low price
  14. I'll either throw a 6 inch roboworm on a shakey head or a wacky rigged 4 inch senko. One or the other usually gets bit when the fishing's tough
  15. I've decided it's time for another spinning setup. I've already decided on the reel but I can't quite pick a rod. I'm looking for something between 6'8-6'10 for shakey heads and wacky rigs mostly, probably a med/ fast or x-fast between $100-$150. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
  16. I like to go back to some of the same areas they were staging on before they moved in to spawn. In the morning and evening I love a slowly worked topwater. During the day I like flukes, wacky rigs, shakey heads, maybe a finesse jig. Anything slow pretty much
  17. I am a big fan fan of braid, but I almost always use a leader. Sometimes the bass don't care if you use straight braid, but there are certainly times when they do. I fish a decent amount of clear water with very little weed growth. Especially when using slow, finesse style presentation the bass can get up close and personal with your bait. Using braid as a main for me is mainly because it handles much easier than mono or fluoro, the actual breaking strength doesn't come into play unless frogging or very heavy cover flipping. I use an alberto knot to join lines and in two years it hasn't failed on me once. Also, I believe a lot of the time a bass isn't dead set on what it's eating is the forage we are trying to imitate. They don't have hands, so if something is moving around and makes them curious, the only way for them to see what it is is to eat it, or "feel it" with their mouth.
  18. It makes no difference to me whether the fish I catch "count" to someone else or not. When I go fishing I'm not out to prove anything to anyone. If the bite is really good then great, if not then that's great too, at least I'm fishing. Just because it's easier to catch big fish this time of year doesn't take anything away from the fact that it's a big fish. I personally think it's strange to avoid catching more and bigger fish than usual, but to each his own I guess.
  19. If I had to pick one bait for fishing smallmouth it would probably be a finesse jig, either 1/4 or 3/8oz. Any crawfish imitator would most likely do well when fishing smallies unless they're really tuned into baitfish, in that case a crankbait or jerkbait would be my pick. A dropshot if they're finicky. Apparently I can't just pick one, haha.
  20. I'll give it a shot. I usually don't catch anything over 4 or 5 for largemouth, but I think I've got a shot with the smallies
  21. I like a #10 x-rap in yellow perch, but there are a ton of great jerkbaits out there. I'd stick with x-raps and pointers mostly, a vision is good but the way I lose baits I can't commit to buying them
  22. I've got two citica e's. They're not the most refined reel, but a really good workhorse reel. I use one for spinnerbaits/ swim jigs and the other for mid range cranking. Great casting, very smooth (despite the low bearing count), and durable. I'd say around $100 or less is a good deal.
  23. I've been using a 7 footer and I've decided to go with a little longer rod, as most of my frogging is long casts over pad fields, weed flats, etc. I do skip when the situation calls for it and I don't think it will be a problem, I can with my flipping stick fine and it's 7'6. From what I'm reading here I'll probably pull the trigger on the 734. Being in Maine a "big one" frogging here is in the 4-5 pound range, so I don't think I need a rod with as much power as the 735. I'm sure it would be a good rod for frogging, but any weight and/or tip heaviness I can avoid by dropping down to the 734 would be nice. I did all my frogging with a mh last year so I think a 4 power should do just fine.
  24. I've got a gen 2 and gen 3 revo s. For the price I'd say it's a great reel. The gen 2 is a little heavy, which was solved with the gen 3. I love everything about the gen 3 except for the gearbox. The way I hold my rod it just gets in the way a little bit. It isn't so bad that I won't fish it, but I won't buy more. If they solved that issue I would be all over some more revo's. It all depends on how you hold your rod though. Performance wise I would say it's a great reel.
