louisiana lafayette
Local to Lafayette, I'd go to henderson or the basin. If you're wanting to travel a bit, there is Toledo Bend, Caney Lake, Old River, False River, Bayou Des Glacias, Maurpas, and about 5 million rivers. In Maurpas and the passes, you can catch a bass, a speck, and a redfish from the same hole. Pretty cool place. A trick to fishing a lot of Louisiana is to find moving water. In the basin and swamps, you'll be confronted with more cover and "good looking water" than you ever have in your entire life. The problem is finding it. Paying attention to water movement, river stages, tidal conditions, and bait migrations will put you on the fish. If you neglect to pay attention to those factors, it can be tough going. I'm moving to the Livingston Parish area (where I'm originally from) next month. As soon as I can convince dear old dad to give me...I mean sell me...his boat, I'm going to be fishing Maurpas, the Amite, and the Talbanny most of the time.

What to use...
If you do try worms, such as a split shot rig or shaky rig, use a light wire hook instead of some brute. That will help.

where can i find hair jigs with brush guard?
If my pot wasn't a piece of junk, I'd offer to pour a jighead and put some fur on it for you. I've never tried it, but I'm sure it's very do-able. Check around with some of the tacklemaking guys. Maybe one of them can do it.

Not really sure. The ones I have used haven't been in the new packaging yet, so I don't know what they have planned for that.

New Rage Tail Lure, reviews
I'm not sure when the new stuff hits the shelves. When Big-O gets back, he'll be able to give you a better idea on that. Hopefully it is very, very soon. Hey Capt, at least that means you're catching quite a bit of fish! ;D

New Rage Tail Lure, reviews
A keel jig is what I'm calling a soft plastic craw on a keel weighted swimbait hook. I don't know what else to call it What did y'all think about that video?

New Rage Tail Lure, reviews
http://www.ragetail.com/ You can download the video from the home page of Rage Tail's site. You'll see why these lures rock and why I'm stoked to be a part of the Rage Tail team. If this doesn't get your inner Bait Monkey flinging poo at your old tackle and demanding new lures, nothing will ;D

New Rage Tail Lure, reviews
I've been using the Anaconda worms (both sizes), the space monkey, the lizard, and the lobster for awhile now. Not saying anything about them has been KILLING me. So here's a little look into what should be coming to a shelf near you soon!! (I'll be posting a link to the new Rage Tail product line video hopefully sometime today) Lobster- The lobster is a bigger version of the craw. It's not overly huge like a giant swimbait, but it is bit bigger. I've been throwing them on a carolina rig and a football jig as a trailer for a few weeks now. I thought I was going to cry when I used my last one. Talk about aggressive strikes. If fish are in the mood to hit a bigger bait, then throw this dude at them. They absolutely kill it. 7" Anaconda- The 7" Anaconda really got me excited. Before using the Anaconda, I was rarely throwing any kind of worm at all. I guess I had lost faith in them since powerworms shut down in my area. When I recieved the Anacondas, I had to see them in the water. The tail action is more aggressive than traditional curl-tail worms and these babies move a LOT of water. Not as much as the 10inchers though. These bad boys are LETHAL on a carolina rig. Absolutely insane in my area. 10" Anaconda- The 10" Anaconda says "kill me before I kill you" to bass. Even on a light, keel weighted swimbait hook, this big tail will slither in the water, giving you a variety of presentations for both sizes of the worm. Texas rigged, jig 'n worm, keel jig, carolina rig, or weightless on top of the slop, these guys rock. To say that I have a new favorite 7 and 10 inch worm is an understatement. Space Monkey- This little oddity had my eyebrows raised at first. I wasn't sure about the frog/lizard/craw look. My face was probably just as contorted the first time I looked at a baby brush hog. When I got a solid fish on my first cast (keel jig style), I was impressed. When I continued to score fish after fish on this little creature, I was hooked. This is the lure that I've been going to A LOT on keel jigs. They have also done well for me as a skirted jig trailer and on a texas rig. Lizard- A lizard is something that I rarely use, so testing this lure had me with little confidence. Not really knowing what I should do with a lizard in the middle of the summer, I decided to sling it out there on a carolina rig. The lizard has great action on all of it's appendages, especially the tail. These lizards have renewed my trust and faith in lizard type baits. There is something out there for everyone with the whole Rage Tail line-up. Worms, craws, topwater frogs and shad, lizards, creatures, giant worms, chunks...it's all there and it's all good. The Rage Tail action is unique. Being a part of the lure testing and reviewing was a great honor that I am proud to have been a part of. Talk about having a good time hiding baits from friends and using them when no one is looking ;D Big-O (Steve) has done a spectacular job on these lures and I think y'all are gonna have a good time with them. These lures are packed with crazy action and scream reaction strike.

Mattlures Swimbaits
I hung into about a 50lb spotted catfish (flathead cat) on the baby bass. He broke my line at the side of the boat though

Strike King released it's ICAST stuff
That's suggested retail price. Rage Tail baits are like 4.49 for a pack here. Hopefully when they hit the selves it will be a bit lower. I will say this, those new Rage Tail baits are awesome and they are very different from other lures out there. If they are a bit more expensive, at least there will be a reason why. Nothing else out there is like 'em. Hey Burley, I haven't seen any of the new Strike King stuff except for the Sexy Shad line-up. Where did you see the stuff before ICAST at and if you've seen it all, why don't you have WHITE ICE SUNGLASSES yet??? ;D lol

Strike King released it's ICAST stuff
Yes, I did. Apparently I should get some sleep. A picture fell off the wall while I was sleeping and just about gave me a heart attack lol. I should be in bed ;D Here's all of the stuff.... http://www.strikeking.com/press/press_releases/index.php Rage Tail http://www.strikeking.com/press/press_releases/20080715,07/index.php Looking at everything, I think the Bait Monkey has evolved into something much more expensive and demanding....the Bait Woman. I can't wait to see the rest of ICAST's stuff. I bet Glenn is having a field day.

I'm sick of keeping this a secret
I've tried a ton of different lures on these hooks. This rig is what initially got me obsessed with the rage tail craw. So much action with such a slow fall is a unique presentation all unto itself. Sure, other plastics work, but I think that this rig is what butters the bread with rage tail craws. Put it this way, I'm starting to be convinced that I don't need senkos anymore. I haven't fished one in a few months now. And about the name...I was calling it Keel Jiggin' all day. So I'm sticking with that until someone comes up with the official name

I'm sick of keeping this a secret
Everywhere. Not so much in deeper water, though if you had the patience and the fish location, I'm sure that it would work. I really like it best around cover and structure in 10ft or less. Doesn't seem to matter what kind. I get bit on it just about everywhere. I tried the screw in type weights. While changing colors or types of plastics was easier, I just didn't like them as much. I can't put a finger on why, but I'm going to stick with the falcon style hooks.

jigheads
You tried going to www.shawncollinscustoms.com or www.barlowstackle.com and clicking around yet?

I'm sick of keeping this a secret
I've got the screw-on type keel weighted hook and a rage tail craw on right now. I've got a night trip planned for the next night or two, so I'll be testing out this version of the rig to see how it performs beside the Falcon hook style. I'll post up my results within the next few days. How does one go about naming a rig? Keel Weighted swimbait hook with a soft plastic trailer just isn't working for me. I'm NOT typing that every time. Louisiana Rig? I'm biased ;D Keel Jig is short and sweet. The BassResource Rig ;D I dunno

Or hang a bell hook or dropshot hook from it. Another secret down ;D

Rage Tail Shad - Hands down my new favorite lure
I love the whole lineup, but the craws are my favorite. More and more, I'm reaching for them in place of other lures that I'd use under various situations. The shad have pretty much replaced traditional buzzbaits in my box, though I still have a love for the big, noisy things. The Shad is definitely an awesome lure.

SNEAK PEAK from Berkley
Does the remote control them? :-/ ;D

I'm sick of keeping this a secret
The one that I'm using isn't the Falcon Hook. It's a big bites hook that is very similiar. I think the size is 5/0. The weight is about 3/16. The package was pretty vague on what I was buying.

jig skirt applicator???
If the skirts are premade, then I just thread it onto the hook. Just pull on the skirt strands if they are slightly out of place. Adjusting them prior to putting them on the hook helps out a lot. If you're making your own skirts, then you need a skirt making tool, available at www.barlowstackle.com

15 G's
170 Lowe Aluminum bass boat or an SV16 Xpress bass boat. The leftover money would go towards a SERIOUS electronics upgrade. It all depends on how big of a boat and motor you want. Those rigs with a 50 would suit me just fine.
