Crazy Colors
I use the crazy bright colors when I want to see the bait while I'm fishing it. If it disappears, it means a fish ate it.

Has Anyone Installed A Kill Switch For Trolling Motor?
You'd have to use a relay to switch the motor off and a regular switch to actuate the relay.
-
Lure And Line
If you are talking crankbaits, the lures will run deeper with the thinner line.

Grumman Deep V Conversion??
Be careful. The bench seats are often the structure that holds the sides of the boat in place. Take the seats out and you might weaken the whole boat.

Can I Fish Here?
How would anybody here know who owns the pond? You have to go up and ask someone at the location.

Can I Fish Here?
ALWAYS get permission to fish on private property.

Broken Rods
I've only broken a few rod tips and they were my fault, so I didn't try get a warranty replacement. I replaced the tip and kept using the rod.
-
Why Is This Happening?
I think when braid gets twisted, it doesn't act like mono does, it wraps itself around the rod tip. To me, a guy who only uses braid, it's the thing that bugs me most about braid.

Who Else Loves Rock'n'roll!
Fans of Doo-w(o)p would not be happy that "In The Still of the Night" was called rock and roll. Dion was also considered Doo-***. (I can't believe that the site censored the term)

Maximize Fishing Time - Kayak, Inflatable Pontoon Or Wader/boot Combo?
I guess you haven't actually been in a good one. My Outcast rows pretty easily. Plus, most have trolling motor mounts if you don't like to row.

Maximize Fishing Time - Kayak, Inflatable Pontoon Or Wader/boot Combo?
What's your problem with inflatables? Worried about putting a hole in one? The boats available are not pool toys. The tubes on pontoon boats are very durable. My first ones I had for 12 years and never came close to puncturing one. Pontoons are MUCH more stable and comfortable than any kayak or canoe. They are great platforms to fish from.

Anyone Fish From A Personal Pontoon?
I love it. It is a lot faster than my old one. Easier to row. I can even go upstream if the current isn't too strong. I couldn't do that with my old one. I up graded the seat. Put a base on so that I could use a seat from my big boat. Very comfortable, much more stable than any kayak or canoe. I have a few back and knee issues which makes getting in and out of a canoe or kayak difficult. This is the same as getting out of any chair. I don't know how anybody could ever flip one of these over. The pontoons are also very tough. I've bumped into lots of rocks and trees and nothing has come close to puncturing one of the skins. You can use a trolling motor if you're fishing lakes. A 30 pound thrust will move you at about 4 mph. I don't carry tons of gear, but I could if I wanted to on this.

Just Maybe?
It happens all the time. Guys land big muskies while fishing for crappies with a minnow and a bobber. A lot more guys get bit off than land them, but it happens a lot. There was a picture on some Muskie boards a couple of years ago of a 55 inch Muskie that probably weighed 40 pounds caught by a walleye fisherman.

Do You Guys Believe In "custom Painted Crankbaits"?
I catch a lot of fish on baits that barely have any paint left on them at all. Fancy paint jobs are fine for the enthusiast fisherman who like the collecting and having unique rods/reels/baits aspect of the sport. I really don't think they will put more fish in the boat.

Who Would You Fish With And Why.....
Al Lindner on any lake he wants. I've met him a couple of times and know I'd enjoy a day with him smallie fishing.

Anyone Fish From A Personal Pontoon?
I just bought a new Outcast, Fish Cat 9IR, (it's not my first pontoon) and I'm wondering, who else fishes from a pontoon?

Wader Fishermen Please Help!
Wear a life jacket!! Especially until you become familiar with the water you will be wading in. If you fall, your waders can quickly fill with water making it hard to get back up. If the water suddenly got deeper, you'd be in big trouble. Be safe!

Will The New Minn Kota Ulterra Trolling Motor Become Popular On The Tournament Circuits?
I'm not a tournament guy but I've been looking into upgrading my trolling motor. This is one I'm probably going to buy.

Bear Scare
Running away is the last thing you want to when you encounter a bear. Luckily, bears seldom have any desire to attack humans. But running often will make the animal see you as prey and make him chase you. Talking loudly and moving away slowly, avoiding eye contact is usually the wisest move.

How To Deal With A Stuck/hard To Use Perko Boat Light?
Boat lights are made of aluminum and don't rust but they can corrode. I would take some emery cloth and polish up the base of the light pole. Then I'd take some and wrap it around something round, smaller that the inside of the socket, and polish that up too. That should open up the socket so the pole will fit easier. There are two pins in the bottom of the socket that may have corrosion on them too. These will be hard to clean. You may be able to scrape the with a thin screw driver but the easier thing to do may be to just buy a new socket. They aren't hard to change and not very expensive.

Mis-Diagnose By Mechanic
I'd say just about your only option is to go back and speak to the owner of the shop that did the work. Ask him why they did all the work they did when it only needed the fuel filter fixed. If he's a stand up guy, he will make an adjustment to the bill. If not, you pay the bill, and never go back.

Trolling Motor Help, Motor Will Not Run
The foot pedals on Minn Kota's are notorious for going bad. Try and borrow one from someone and try it again before you invest in a control board.

Sound I Use Braid
Try some 10 pound Power Pro. Won't cost as much as some other lines, it will cast farther than 20 pound, and will work as well as almost any braid.

Sound I Use Braid
If you aren't fishing a lot of really heavy cover, 10 to 15 pound braid is all you need. Use some old mono line to put some backing on. You are trying to put enough on so you don't put on more braided line than you would normally use. Skip the leader for a while. Generally for me, leaders are a lot more trouble than they are worth. I use all braid all the time in mostly rocky situations and have never had a break off do to abrasion. If after a while you find a need to add a leader you can but keep it simple at first and skip the leader. A lot of guys find it doesn't help that much, some guys think they need it.
