  1. I am having an issue with a couple of my Terminator T1 spinnerbaits that I bought. I have the colorado willow tandem ones with the titanium wire. Catch some good fish on them but they seem to foul up so much on me. Its a shame because they are very durable with the titanium wire and all. Trying to figure out exactly what is causing them to foul up. At first I thought the flex in the titanium blade was allowing the willow blade on the back to knock into the trailer hook causing it to foul up and not pull right. I fixed that problem by putting on a smaller free floating trailer hook. But now, it still fouls as soon as I cast and begin the retrieve I have to jerk it hard a couple of times to try to get the blades spinning right again. Anyone fishing these spinnerbaits having this happen? I guess the next step for me is to try switching out the willow blade with a one size smaller willow to see if that helps. Any suggestions?
  2. Huh thats weird I thought they had changed it to June 26th this year...
  3. Berkley power worms are awesome but I have no opinion the bass pro ones because I haven't used them. I use the 10 inch power worm a lot in the summer on a swing jighead with a 7/0 monster EWG hook and it gets pretty freaky sometimes.
  4. I use the revenge baits a lot and rarely have the problems you are having. I assume when you say the blade is hanging on the wire you are talking about during the cast? I have had this happen a couple of times I believe but usually whenever this happened as soon as I would start reeling and I could feel that the bait was fouled up, I just jerked real hard a time or two and it started thumping just like it should. I also throw pretty bulky trailers on my revenge viberators and that extra weight on the back of the bait could be what keeps the bait from tumbling a lot in the air and causing me the problems you have been having.
  5. With the patent Zman has, it is really the only one that can attach the blade directly to the line tie. A lot of people think that this makes those baits superior and is the only way to have a chatterbait, but really all it does is make the bait have a tighter wobble on the retrieve then some of the others. The project Z from Zman looks promising and probably will be a good bait. Sieberts from what I read on here are good as well. I like the revenge viberators which have a split ring between the blade and the line tie which cause them to have a wider wobble which I think can be good at times. They also have a spring coil that clips on to the line tie so that you can rig it weedless. If you have ever tried to fish a bladed jig in heavy wood cover you know that this can be a very important thing.
  6. The thing that turned me away from cajun red a few years ago was the stretch. Stretchiest line I have ever used. Also, it was the only line I ever used that snapped when i really went to sling a crankbait really hard. Happened 3 or 4 times and the lure went flying out 100 yards once line snapped. Took all of it off my reels after that and never considered it again. Big Game is strong line with good abrasion resistance, just has a little more memory but is no problem for baitcaster. Sufix elite is decent but has a lot of stretch. The siege is good but has more memory, similar to big game. The sunline mentioned above and the senshi I believe are definitely the best quality mono you can buy.
  7. Seaguar senshi is really good monofilament. I use it for my topwater rod. Only thing to be aware of with this line is the diameter for each lb test is smaller than most other mono brands. I use the 20 pound senshi for topwaters and it is the same diameter as most other 14 lb mono brands.

  9. Yes they hold much better than the ones you get at wal mart. I havent tried it with a heavier rig yet but feeling how tight two of them fit on the line i would think it would work fine up to 3/4 oz. 3/4 oz is what I use 90% of the time during summer time fishing deep points and ledges. The bigger lb test you use too helps with keeping the stops in place. I wouldnt go any lighter than 15 lb and I use 17lb fluoro a lot too. As far as split shots I have used a split shot rig before but dont anymore. Just cant get over the paranoia of crimping something to my line like that.
  10. Very nice. I bought some of the revenge viberators last year and they come with a spring clip that attaches to the eye of the bait which allows you to rig your trailer weedless. Whenever I fish heavy cover I have strictly started fishing these. Your homemade jigs look nice, always increases satisfaction of catching fish with something that you made or modified yourself.
  11. I love fishing a chatterbait this time of year but where I fish in the spring the fish get real tight up in the bushes and around shallow wood cover. Chatterbaits for me are a wood magnet. Any time I try to fish them tight to cover they get hung on everything, its like they are magnetically drawn to the tree branch. I know you can do a few things to make them weedless but for some reason i dont like to fish them like that.
  12. This is nothing special and many others might have done this before but wanted to share with you guys n gals a rig that has been working really well for me so far this year. It is basically a finesse carolina rig. I am using 15 lb fluoro on a 7 ft mh rod. I slide a tungsten bullet weight on the line first, usually 3/8 or 1/2 oz size. I then put on two 6th sense peg x bobber stops back to back. You could probably get away with just one but I put two just to make sure it doesnt move from where I set it. The 6th sense ones are the best I have found, they are bigger than the bass pro bobber stops and have more surface area to create friction with your line which makes them hold much better and not slip. I do not use a glass bead on this rig. I then tie on my hook and whatever plastic I feel like fishing which lately has been a green pumpkin lizard. The nice thing about this rig is that you can move the bobber stops up or down your line so you can adjust your leader length whenever you feel like. I also have noticed that by eliminating the swivel in a traditional carolina rig setup that I get better sensitivity as your line is directly connected to your hook. I have been fishing around shallow secondary points and even back into some spawning coves with this. If I am fishing water 5 ft or less I usually start out with about a 12-15 inch leader and when I back up off of some points and fish 5-10 ft. of water have been using 18 to 24 inch leader. Like I said nothing special and I am sure it has probably been thought about or done many times in the past but just wanted to share. I have also seen this presentation work well during the spawn. Everybody during the spawn around here fishes texas rigs and fishing a carolina rig like this gives the fish a different look than what they are used to seeing. If anybody else has some non traditional rigs or tips that work for you please share.
  13. Appreciate the info fellas. Im supposed to get them tomorrow and Ill probably be out fishing twice this week I will post some feedback once i get some on the water experience with them.
  14. I just ordered one of each just to test out and see how I like them. Anybody on here have any real world experience or reviews on these baits?
  15. Freedom tackle at Tackle Warehouse makes an awesome swinghead jig called the hybrid football jig that has a neat system so you can put on any size hook you want. Seems much more solid to me than a split ring. I found these last year and havent used any others since. I can put on a 7/0 ewg and fish ol monster worms or put a 3/0 on and fish creature style baits in just a few seconds. Here is the link. http://www.***.com/Freedom_Tackle_Hybrid_Football_Jig_2pk/descpage-FREER.html Most use I get out of these is summer ledge fishing and sometimes I will wind a 3/4 or 1/2 oz across the bottom like a crankbait, sometimes hop it, drag it, a lil bit of everything.
  16. I like the pointer 100DD and the staysee, both are great jerkbaits. I catch more fish on the staysee though for some reason than the pointer DD but could just be a coincidence.
  17. Most of the reason for using a moderate action rod for crankbaits and fast action for worms and jigs isn't a treble vs. single hook thing. Its about how they are getting hooked and how big the hook is. When you get a bite on a worm you need a stiff responsive rod to drive a bigger thicker hook through its mouth. When fishing a crankbait the fish basically hooks itself.
  18. Same here. Its all good though cause I love fishing them.
  19. I like to use RI skinny dippers as trailers for chatterbaits. Bite them off right behind the head. Never fished a rage blade before though.
  20. Kahara quick locks from TW is what I use and they work great. Never had one fail or open up. Size 1.
  21. I agree that the *** blank does feel really good in the hand and they are very light. But, have seen and heard of too many people breaking the tips off. I witnessed it last year and I would never buy one cause of this.
  22. Losing any lure sucks, but especially an expensive one that you have caught tons of fish on. One in particular sticks in my mind from last year I had just caught a bass on a vision 110 in deadly black illusion color. I was excited because the fish were biting so good that morning. After releasing the fish i jumped up as quick as I could to fire another cast not realizing that the line had gotten wrapped around my rod tip while landing the fish. I go to cast and the line snaps and the lure goes flying 70 yards out and lands in the water. Problem is I had changed out the hooks to get the bait to slowly sink so of course I could not go over and get it. No telling how many fish I had caught on that one bait but it had lost a lot of paint for sure. Made me want to pack it in and head back to the ramp and thought about it the rest of that day and matter of fact it still makes me mad to this day!
  23. Deadly Black Illusion Pro Blue French Pearl Elegy Bone Those are my favorites
  24. To answer the original question.....Because they are awesome and when you catch fish on them it makes you feel awesome. Obviously I am not talking about all of the expensive stuff out there, I see some really expensive baits that I would never ever throw.
