  1. My goal for 2013 is to catch the next state record LMB since the "unofficial" state record was caught in my county only a short drive from my house by a fishing friend. But seriously I would like to beat my PB LMB looking for 6 pounds or better and eclipse my PB SMB anything over 5.5 pounds. And to fish more jigs so can get better at them.
  2. Man I just read this entire thread. There are some nice rod/reel combos. I thought I would show yall what I'm working with in my paltry collection. Sorry for the crappy photos. Apparently my camera didn't feel taking quality pics. From top: - Abu Garcia Revo SX (3rd Gen) on a 7ft MH cheap Quantum Bill Dance "special" (frog rod) - Abu Garcia SXT on a 7Ft MH Abu Garcia Veritas (spinnerbait/swim jig) - Shimano Citica on a 7ft Med Abu Garcia Vendetta (crankbait) - Shimano Caenan on a 7ft 3in Abu Garcia Vendetta (jig) - Shimano Cardiff on a Hev 7ft 6in All Star (something) (swimbait) - Pfluger President on a 6ft 6in Med Shimano Volteus (sinko) Tomorrow I'm ordering another rod to replace the generic Quantum for my frog rod. Looking at a Daiwa. I have a couple more rods but I didn't feel like bringing them all out.
  3. Okay this is my first post as I am brand new to this site. The other day I purchashed some Tuff-Line Super Cast without knowing anything about it in an attempt to get back into braid after an epic failure with it several years ago. From what I've seen and heard Tuff-Line is the real deal. Anyway I've learned to use mono for backfill and uni to uni knot and braid for the last 1/4-1/3 of the capacity of the reel. So far I have added braid to my frog rig and my jig rig only. Not sure what other rigs I should add braid to. I know I will not add it to my crankbait rig that will stay mono for the stretch. Should I add braid to my spinnerbait/swim jig rig, my swimbait rig and my spinning rig? The Tuff-Line braid is only 25lbs test and in retrospect I should have gotten 30lbs or even 50lbs since I now know smaller diameter braid has a tendancy to dig into itself.
  4. Yakker I think I know who that friend is. If I am not mistaken I should be purchasing his book later this week.
  5. Brand new to this site after lurking. My name is Larrick and I live in the Pacific NW in NW Washington State. I am originally from the south but have lived in WA for over 20 years. I am fortunate to live in a very rich fishing location. I can fish for bass in the warmer months, I try for salmon and steelhead for a few weeks in the fall, trout all year and if I want try for some nice saltwater beasts. Even some nice channel cats. But I mostly concentrate on bass. I consider myself to be a step above a beginner into the intermediate even though I have been fishing for bass for like 15 years only because I still love to learn how to be a better fisherman. No it doesn't rain up here as much as rumors will have you believe. I avg. like 34 inches of rain a year (ATL has almost twice as much per year) and had less than 1/2 inch of snow this winter. No I take that back it rains 360 days a year and it never gets above 50F . <---That's to keep those interested in moving here away helps keep the state population low lol. I look forward to meeting some good folks here and learn a whole bunch.
