Can I Fish on the Canada side of St Lawrence?
Information for foreign boaters Unless you are exempt, you cannot currently enter Canadian waters (territorial sea and internal waters) or boundary waters for discretionary (non-essential) reasons. These reasons include: touring sightseeing pleasure fishing Transiting boaters You may still navigate through international or Canadian waters while in transit directly from one place outside Canada to another place outside Canada, if the transit is: direct continuous/uninterrupted by the most reasonable route Transiting travellers may only make non-discretionary (essential) stops along the way, including to use facilities, refuel or for essential supplies. Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Looks like all marinas and launches back open again! It's hard to keep up. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/2020/04/18/golfers-allowed-play-new-york-courses-after-all/5159538002/ https://esd.ny.gov/guidance-executive-order-2026

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Sorry got to politely disagree, completely unnecessary at this point. No need for preemptive, close them when they become crowded if we are still under the same conditions when that happens. I have no desire to catch that virus and do everything I can to avoid it. Going to an uncrowded boat launch and fishing by myself or with somebody from my own house currently poses just about a zero threat.

The DEC launches are unmanned so what you mention doesn't apply. If it did I agree it would make sense.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
NY DEC & Parks' launches are now now closed. So it seems Covid-19 definitely has a mental health impact to it. Seems it is making people in government stupid. Makes no sense, would be different if it was July and the launches were packed with people.

Literally finding the perfect lure
It looks small so it might even be a 1.0. Just measure the overall body length and then go to Strike King's website. They list the body length for each size.

Literally finding the perfect lure
It is a Strike King KVD Square Bill in orange belly craw. Nice fish, I have had good luck with that lure myself.

Tendenitis in casting arm
I had it bad in my one elbow at the end of the season last year. After waiting until about Jan. and it not going away I went to see the dr. Ended up getting a brace to wear when I fish, which I really haven't had to use so far this year because I essentially got it to go away by doing the stretches and exercises I found on this website. You can search google for tennis elbow exercises and get even more ideas. http://www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm

I can understand your not wanting to take any chances and I agree changing the oil is cheap insurance. Was just curious, I am definitely not an expert, just knew I didn't have to be as concerned with the freezing (as long as no water in the LU) on my outboard like I do with my inboard. Just making sure I wasn't missing something, cause a cracked lower unit would suck. Especially now!

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
I'm curious, why would you have to change the lower unit oil again if you splashed it? Does it leak?

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
It's my fault for getting my boat and gear ready last weekend, so it had to go back to winter. d**n the fishing gods...

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Thanks. Yeah, once I'm ready and the weather cooperates no docks isn't going to stop me either.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
The docks aren't in yet at Silver, are they? Not that I'm even ready yet, but hoping to get out a little earlier than last two years.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Thanks. Was there on Sat. and couldn't get a bite. Tried a couple drifts, including east side of Strawberry island and no luck. Judging on how nobody was sticking to the drift there I assume I might not of been alone in my lack of luck.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Thanks for the tips guys! I am hopeful of having a better time of it this summer than last. I believe I have learned a lot from the start of last year to the start of this year, definitely having more success so far at least. So hopefully that plays into the summer. I fully understand and I am truly grateful for the general help you have given me so far on multiple occasions(directly and indirectly in other posts). I don't think I would really want the specific information you invested a lot of time figuring out. Mainly because I think investing the time and figuring it out myself is most of the fun and what keeps me very interested in bass fishing. A little help now and then and maybe a point in the right direction is appreciated because it can become frustrating and you can have a sense you are just not improving. But when I look back I see how I have gotten better. It is definitely a fun but humbling puzzle to try and solve and it seems the puzzle never ends. It just evolves to new levels. Thanks again.

One of my goals this year is to definitely fine tune that pattern. I'm hoping to spend enough time doing it to have something click. Bass just aren't generous with the clues.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Hehe, there's the problem. There's tons of weeds! And it seems the one I check never have any bass in them.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
This is just my 3rd year bass fishing and although I do ok in the spring I really have struggled so far in the summer the previous years. I have read in books/magazines about the summer season but I would be interested in hearing from somebody in this area that fishes a lake I struggle on in the summer (Conesus) describe what they think is a traditional summer type bite. Don't have to go into great detail, but a general description would be greatly appreciated. Just something to point me in the right direction. Dodged my first skunk of the year the weekend before last at Conesus, was able to get one bass to keep my streak intact. But it definitely got tough there for me. I'm afraid with summer approaching that skunk is inevitable.

Yeah, I spent most of the time on the east side. It's been the better side for me so far this year. Hit Silver again on Saturday for a few hours in the morning till a about 1pm and did ok. Got a couple nice ones of the docks swimming a jig in the morning and then it kinda slowed down. Fishing partner was getting some small ones using a jerkbait on the inside weededge to keep use from getting bored( I picked up a couple with a squarebill and a lipless). But around noon they started setting up back on the docks again and we got a few pitching beavers including the nice one below. Been having fun on Silver this year and learning more everyday I get out there.

I fished Silver last night for about 3 hrs after work and although I wasn't targeting rock bass I did catch a few. I'd say, with my limited experience, that they were average to a little bit to the small side. That was the ones that I caught. I was getting a lot of bites with nothing home that I am sure was just small rock bass. Ended up with 6 largemouth and one smallmouth. Nothing huge, but a couple decent ones and probably only one I would call a dink. Caught them all shallow and fishing slow. Didn't get one (other than rock bass) on anything moving. Silver lake is definitely better than last year for me, might have to give the Thursday night tournaments a crack. At least so far this year it seems I might have a chance to catch one.
