  1. up here in maine this year has been just a all out winner it woulld seem we have been a month late in all respects and NEVER got the dog days of summer. the firstt year i can remember never having to drop shot and the fall period is here already - (LOL) the only bad thing at least on my lakes is that the top water bite never really turned on consistantly
  2. fish more research less - sometimes all the research in the world IS JUST that research (thats not to say reaearching is not a good thing ). fish as much as you can and try to do things YOUR WAY not the research way! - everyday is different on the water play around and have fun! here is a basic idea i am comfortable with fishing in southern NH and Maine (AGAIN) these work for me (HOWEVER) i still carry a gazillion different things in the boat like everyone else to play around with spring - fish shallow and around rocks and grass tubes sencos jerk baits prop baits/floating rapalas summer - fish shallow and around 15 to 20 feet - around rocks - grass - weeds and pads tubes sencos top water baits Fall - fish shallow and around rocks and grass tubes sencos jerk baits prop baits/floating rapalas
  3. NOTHING LIKE a mepps in-line spinner GOLD or a Phoebe any color - in new england rivers this time of year TROUT - SMALLIES - SALMON all love these "GO FOR THE GRAND SLAM"
  4. try to find the warmest water on the lake shallow with grass and rocks - twitch a jerk bait - or fish a tube real SLOW - SLOW - SLOW is the key
  5. the belgrade lakes Region of Maine has GREAT pike fishing
  6. jitterbugger keep things REAL simple i have been fishing up there my whole life -- some folks seem to think you need special line/rods /reels ect! - to have a good time catching fish! NOT SO! spinning gear - any rod or reel will do!!!! - FLOURO 4lb - 6lb test line fish tubes (BLACK RED FLAKE) AND SOME WHITES GREENS AND BROWNS HAIR JIGS IF YOU HAVE THE? SENKO'S again BLACK! spinning gear - any rod or reel will do!!!! - FLOURO 8lb test line JERK BAITS - X-RAPS WORK GOOD - SILVER - PEARCH AND GOLD SMALL POPPERS BAITCASTING gear - any rod or reel will do!!!! - THATS UP TO YOU I USE 20LB BRAID WITH A 6 INCH LEADER IT'S EARLY UP THERE - TRY ROCK PILEs AND SHALLOW warm areas! MOST IMPORTANT ENJOY THE BODY OF WATER - IT IS BEAUTIFUL UP THERE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR AND I AM A JITTERBUG FREAK - BRING A COUPLE TO TRY IN THE EVENING black!
  7. i have been using a wounded spook - it does the job very nicely - no having to walk the dog! the props on the front and back make all the racket needed - kind like fishing a BIG torpedo - and we all know how much the smallies love them
