Well guys, I made it out to Leonard's pond this Saturday. I launched around 7:30 and worked the shoreline with a jig, senko, frog and texas rigged zoom zhog. By 12:30-I o clock, I had about 10 bites, all of which, were less than 12 inches and a few that shook me off that probably didn't measure as well. I was discouraged as I thought the day was ultimately going to be a bust. I started digging into the plano's and pulled out a Z-man Chatterbait with a Yamamoto swim senko trailer both in black/blue. The water was very tannic and there couldn't have been more than 8 inches of visibility so I thought that this setup given the color, vibration and overall larger profile might get me some more bites. To my surprise, after a few casts, I started getting bit and with much better size. I found that 95% of my bites were coming off of submerged wood and ended up with 20 or so bass including a 5 lb 6 oz bass in the last 2 hours of fishing. I'll take it for a first outing and I am excited to try other new water nearby! Here's a video of some highlights from the day:

Thanks for the info. On google earth, I'm surrounded by just a ton of water so it was a little overwhelming at first but you've narrowed my search. I drive by the Nanticoke everyday and see big grass mats and lilly pads and can't help but think there has gotta be some giants in there Might be time to break out the frog and punchin' gear! I'll post some videos if I have any good outings!

Hey guys, Just moved to Salisbury, MD for the next the 3 months and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on places to launch a kayak/fish for some bass. I have google mapped the area and there looks to be a ton of water so I'm assuming there must be some good fishing in the area. Thanks for any help/advice in advance! Greg

Just began kayak fishing last year and prior to that only fished from shore and I'm glad I made the transition! Definitely catching more and better quality fish from the yak for obvious reasons but here is a video of some of the highlights from the 2013 fishing season so far. All of the fish in this video were caught in Central New York mainly Cayuga Lake and the Seneca-Cayuga canal. Looking into getting a bass boat this spring to tackle some bigger bodies of water and cover more water so hopefully future videos will be from that!

One of my favorite places to fish is the Seneca Cayuga Canal here in Central New York. There's a lot of vegetation in the canal this year and I've never fished a frog. Actually, I've never even fished a topwater! I've always fished finesse soft plastic type baits (80% of the time) so that's where my confidence was. Well after a couple of days with the frog I can hardly put it down now. Hands down one of the most exciting ways to catch bass! Frog used was the Booyah Pad Crasher junior working it over small pockets and mats.

Went out on Cayuga Lake for a few hours this morning before getting poured on. Only had 4 bites today but they all happened to be decent bites. Caught 2 on a senko and the others on a spinnerbait and swim jig. Biggest was 4-1 and the rest all hovered around 3. Still looking for that 5 plus pounder. I know I'd probably increase my odds if I ditched the spinning gear with a senko and started fishing a jig exclusively, however, it's a hard thing to do when you're getting bites

Hey man if you're still in the area the cottonwood has seemed to have clear up at the marina. I feel like it really is about timing when fishing the marina and right now seems to be pretty good bite. I just took the kayak down there and did pretty good fishing the bank across from all of the boat docks which is easily within a castable distance from shore. I also saw a bunch of guys fishing around the boats/boat docks catching some 1-2 lb bass. Use a 5 inch senko wacky rigged and try to cast it as close as you can to the other side near the bank and work it back.

Had a decent day fishing the Seneca Lake State park marina here in upstate New York. For some reason I though that the majority of the bass were post spawn, however, the bank I was fishing (right across from the boat docks) had bedding bass every 10 yards or so that I could see. Used a 5 inch watermelon with black flake (and also bubblegum color) senko wacky rigged on a size 2 gamakatsu finesse wide gap hook (personally, gives me the best hook up ratios). Was getting a slightly bigger bite with a bitsy bug black/blue jig, however, was getting bit more often with the senko with not too much of a decrease in size so that's what I fished with the majority of the day.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was a great day for sure, one of those where you just seem to hit the right places at the right times. When I first started fishing the dock pattern I was just kind of experimenting and didn't really expect much only because every bass boat on the lake was out maybe a 100 yards from shore or so. Much to my surprise there were some decent bass holding under them! Winter takes too long- The kayak I'm using is a Lifetime Manta Tandem kayak. I will certainly not win any races with this thing but the stability (for standing) is really nice!

Got out on Cayuga Lake for a few hours for the first time this year. Cayuga lake is part of the Finger Lakes in central NY and provides some great fishing year round. Ended up catching some decent size from under docks with a senko and doing well with a half oz spinnerbait yo-yo'ing over weed beds. The bass (and pickerel) seemed to hit the spinnerbait 90% of the time on the fall. Hopefully will be able to get out again soon!

thanks for the comments guys! going to try to get around to some of the finger lakes like Oneida, Skaneateles, Cayuga, etc to film and provide a fishing report. I'll make sure future videos have more of a "neutral" type music haha...or maybe no music at all and just keep the natural audio
