Is there any particular reason you prefer a ML in light cover as opposed to a M in the same type of cover?

I'm headed to walmart now to buy some of these suckers!

look at that fatty! So moral of the story is that ML are not necessarily strictly for little tiny 1/16oz weights... NOW - how much different does a bite feel on that ML rod?

So does anyone use a medium light rod for drop shotting? How different does it fish than a medium? Is it only really useful when fishing lighter weights like 1/8oz and 1/16oz? Thanks!

I posted a thread about this 10xd a few weeks ago and no one responded... after going to the local tackle shop and actually holding one and looking at it, I agree there is MUCH better ways to fish 25ft down. That sucker seems like it would wear me out! It'll be neat to see if anyone wins any tournaments with one! Starter kit - 1/4oz tungsten straight drop shot weights, #1 gamakatsu drop shot/split shot hooks, ZOOM finesse worms in watermelon seed. If you want a more complete kit - 1/16thoz , 1/8oz, 1/4oz, 3/8oz tungsten straight drop shot weights (duplicates weights in ball style drop shot weights too), #1/2/3 drop shot hooks, and a TON of straight tail and finesse roboworms in all the colors!

Night fishing and we normally use shakey heads, but I heard a rumor of a guy catching a 10lb'er on a brown and black 1/2oz football jig. Of course, I went and bought 4 1/2oz brown/black football head jigs, used some brown chunk trailers, got snagged and lost 2 of the jigs throughout the night and the last light we came up to around midnight, I casted under the dock and hopped it a few times and hooked a little 1lber. Most exciting 1lb'er I've ever caught!!! Hahaha.

For the smaller boat, look at smaller jon boats with either strictly a high-power-thrust trolling motor OR a small HP outboard w/ a trolling motor up front. 14ft jon boat is a good option. You'll only be putting two people in there...any more and it will be crowded pretty good. As for the REAL boat.... glass vs. aluminum, length, what kind of water are you fishing (stumpy back waters, open water, big waters, small waters, etc...), how much you want to spend, etc... Look at craigslist everyday for the next couple of months and get a feel for what's in your area. Don't jump into anything. Read everything you possibly can on buying used boats and the various things you might be wanting in a boat. My two cents - spend around $2,000 on a nice little john boat setup and then maybe look into getting "more" boat later on.

Sit in the elements and rot sounds pretty morbid! Fish it almost daily... the only thing getting wear from the elements is the seats... the carpet died pretty quick even when I kept it covered the first two months I had it... but on that note you're dang certain when I get me another house it'll have a covered carport/garage!

Boat is an 18ft w/ a 150, so I can't flip it over As for the tarp idea, I like it. If I can't find anything in the next week I will be doing that. As for the protectant and cleaner, can you point me to anything you/some-you-know have used?

Short and sweet... my only option at the moment is to store my boat outside in the elements. The carpet is already "dead", but the seats are still in really good shape, but I'm noticing the beginnings of sun damage, so I want to do something to protect them. Did a bunch of google searches and couldn't find anything.... does anyone know where I can buy some seat covers that will actually fit the bucket seats (where both the bottom and back are attached to the hull). I just want some covers I can quickly slip onto the seats with some elastic in them to hold them on. Don't need to be trailerable, just something for storage. Please help me find some? Thanks!

Since I'm in a boat these days, I've got a whole bunch of various planos for hard plastics and terminal tackle. I have two planos that are full of my goto type stuff....one for hooks strictly and one for weights and weighted hook type stuff. One plano has 1/0-5/0 offset worm hooks, some EWG hooks, screw-lock hooks in a cpl sizes, some weighted swim bait hooks, weighted tube hooks, and some octopus hooks for a drop shot. In the weight plano I have shakey heads in 1/4oz and 1/8oz, 1/4oz weights, 1/2oz weights, 3/8oz weights, #5 clips, #5 swivels, glass and plastic beads, drop shot weights, pegs, and a few sizes of jig heads.... I feel the two boxes I described above have been perfect for all of my average fishing days. If the fish are finicky I've got 1/8oz shakey heads and drop shot material, if I need to get deep I can make c-rigs, if i need to be cranking I've got snaps, and basically everything I fish uses an offset worm hook or EWG hook. I've got a few other planos full of specialty stuff like jika rigs and strange shaped hooks for super soft swimbaits, but I seldom touch those boxes. Being a bank fisherman at one point and a kayak fisherman I know about needing to keep the load light. I like the way I have things organized right now because my soft plastics and hooks/weights can all fit in a backpack if need be AND everything stays organized. I go night fishing on my buddies boat quite often and life is really easy when I can just grab 3 things, shove them in a backpack, and know EXACTLY what I've got and where everything is. I've become a lot more anal about my organization recently and it's paid off in time saved, a cleaner boat, and I feel less frazzled when everything is in its own special place. (I'm shocked I just typed a dang essay about organization )

Keep em' all in original package. Get gallon size ziplocs and "storage size sandwhich ziplocs" (don't know the exact size, but they are big enough to fit baits in vertically). Shove all my regular zoom/gene worms in a gallon ziploc. Put all my expensive worms (robos/senkos) in a smaller ziploc - put smaller one into gallon bag with zooms. Gallon bag full of swimbaits. Gallon bag full of creatures. Small bag full of trailers. Small bag of expensive trailers/creatures (rage). Just Shove all those bags into a backpack or smaller "duffle bag" type bag - My life has gotten SO much simpler after finally doing this. Can find baits without having to dig.

C-Rig and Shaky Heads!!!! I'll cast out a c-rig worm AT LEAST once every time I fish

I mis-understood what he was saying then. I'll check into it next few days... it usually is only happening for me on light lures like soft plastics.

They've been all over the river by my house the past weeks and I have to admit, I always try to drive straight through them on the water. I hate coots... so much...so very much. Maybe I can thin the heard before duck season opens!

The Falcon is WAY more "limber" than the cumara.... on the falcon the backbone doesn't start until about 1/2 down the rod! The Cumara is definitely stiffer. Good call checking for loops. Getting the line spooled up perfectly without any loops or looseness has helped get me to the distance I'm at right now. I'm going to try some heavier lures this week and see what happens. Also might switch to some mono and see if that helps at all.

That Cumara is a crankbait specific cumara. I don't know the weights of the cranks I'm throwing, but I figured the Cumara would be the best rod for casting dd-22's, but turns out it is the Falcon!?!?

I usually use a snap on my cranks... will removing the snap tighten them up too?

I've been fishing 11-14ft the past weeks and been getting lots of bites - many of them short bites. Tried changing colors to more natural, less natural, etc... still getting bites but still a lot of short bites. I've really been focusing a lot on hard bait presentations the past year, so I figure it's only logical to learn about tuning crank baits for more/less wobble. How do I tighten the wobble of a crank? How do I loosen the wobble of a crank? I usually use a snap swivel on my cranks too (just some added info) Thanks!
