  1. Tranx 300 65 lb braid to a 20 lb leader - fluro for jig hook baits, mono for treble hook baits
  2. Both are great baits but it seems the Bluegill bait would be more versatile for both lakes until you can get a shad glide.
  3. Those are fine. I would look at Siebert Outdoors for what I consider the best jigs for the money.
  4. If it's a quality jig, you won't have any problems. 20 lb is my minimum on East Texas lakes. I will use 40 lb braid if I can get away with it.
  5. Since that pic I have built 2 custom BFS rods so I am good.
  6. When the A-Rig came out, it looked like a wad of coat hangers coming through the water column and was so effective, it got banned in the major tournaments. So I pass on the braid visability question. If they can see braid, they can see a couple of treble hooks too. Now I 100% belive in the abrasion issue. And if you use too heavy of a braid, it definitely affects the action of some finesse baits. Just my 2 cents...
  7. I have had a blast with mine. I started out with the KK Zephyr to see if the style would work for me. It has received a bearing upgrade and is still in the rotation. But the Conquest is amazing compared to the KK.
  8. THe Tush works well on any solid body swimbait or you can glue the belly slot together and use it on those baits as well. The Hover Rig hook works well on the small, minnow type baits like the Z-Man Finesse Shadz, or any tiny Fluke style bait.
  9. I have been a big fan of Upton's Reaper. A very under-the-radar bait,

  12. As my username suggests, I love throwing big baits. But sometimes, I just want to fun fish and BFS has been a blast. You do catch a lot of small fish, but I was surprised at the number of 3-4 lbers that you catch. And on 4-6 lb line, it's a circus!

Is anyone tying and selling BFS jigs and/or bladed jigs?
  14. Thank you. Unfortunately, Hedgehog does not offer one. It was just recently supertuned and all the bearings were upgraded so I will just keep using it as intended.
  15. Anyone know if there is a shallow spool for the 100B so that I could use it for BFS?
  16. Spunk Shad on Chatterbaits, Rage Menace rigged vertically on spinnerbaits.
  17. THe D&M Buzz Saw has consistently produced for me because it is weedless. I can throw it in places you can't throw a traditional buzz bait. I also use the Spunk Shad as a trailer on the free-swinging EWG hook.
  18. Absolutely! I am currently catching them on the Gan Craft 70 with my BFS gear.
  19. For years I have used the Lefty Kreh braid-to-leader knot, but recently I have been using the 832 Camo braid with no leader and I have not noticed a difference. I do back off one power on my rod unless I am using frogs or punching.
  20. Good advice! That LFS Speed Spool is a great reel for the price.
  21. Tatsu for me because I am braid to leader and a spool lasts forever using 7-10 yards at a time.
  22. Yes - but throw in a pause every now and then and let it flutter like a dying baitfish. If they don't hit it on the fall, they will hit it when you start the retrieve again thinking it's getting away.
  23. Small 3" - 4" swimbaits when they are feeding on shad.
  24. I totally agree. An A-Rig looks like a wad of coat hangers coming through the water. People worry about line visibility but never mention the 2 treble hooks on a crankbait. I do agree that line diameter affects lure action and depth.
  25. I was watching a Tactical Bassin' video on jerkbaits in clear water. When they jerked the bait and it created a certain angle in the water, that fluro glowed like a neon tube from the light penetration.
