  1. CARLOS ZAMBRANO WITH A NO-NO AGAINS THE MIGHTY ASTROS IN MILWAUKEE!!! Miller Park = Wrigley North
  2. The wind blew us off the lake this morning. It was fine until 10, then it kicked up to 30+. Lake W is bad for swirling winds and this morning wasn't any different. It was blowing from three different directions at one time.
  3. Yep, I make Under Armour look downright d**n hot.
  4. The Curado 200E7 is just that d**n good. TheBeast and I were fishing identical rods (Carrot LTX 6'9MH), identical baits (3/8 oz.). I was using 14 lb. XPS flouro, he was using 12 lb. PLine CXX. The only real difference were the reels. I was using a 200E7, he a Revo STX. The difference? About 15 yards. The 200E7 is that full of win. Chuck Norris wishes he was as good as this reel. This reel makes Darth Vader cower in the corner.
  5. TheBeast and I went out this morning for the first time since Jimzee came down a month ago. We've been busy with football, work, general slackassery...you know, those old chestnuts. First time I've fished the 200E7 for more than a few minutes. It's hotter than a Martian's red butt.
  6. Well, at least you showed him how NOT to do things.
  7. What the hell did you guys expect? The Little 10+1 is a third-rate conference. Little better than the Big Least or Conference SuckSA.
  8. It's just that the level of ignorance shown over the last three to four days has been sickening. I do not know how true the story is, but I heard from three different people that the manager of a local store almost had a riot on his hands after he closes his pumps in order to keep some gas on hand for emergency supply. The story is that several customers came into the store and cornered the guy. Had that been me, there may have been a few less gas buyers... :-X You may not, but many many many people expect them to take a loss. Seeing as how cheap gas is their birthright and all. Constitutionally guaranteed ya know.
  9. Arkansas Attorney General Addresses Gas Hikes Posted: Sep 12, 2008 10:22 PM JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says his office has been inundated with claims of price gouging at the pump. While McDaniel won't name names right now, he says they are looking very closely at some stations in Jonesboro. "It's not fair, it's not right, and it's not legal. I intend to take a very harsh view of it as we gather evidence of those who are committing these violations," said McDaniel. McDaniel is asking consumers to help sort through rumors of what gas prices are doing, and provide his office with evidence. "I've heard rumors of 6 dollars a gallon gasoline in south Arkansas, but we haven't found actual evidence. Most people, on their cell phones, they have cameras...I'm asking people to use those cameras and send us what they see," said McDaniel. McDaniel warns he and his office are watching the gas prices very closely, and he urges retailers to demonstrate some restraint during what he calls a temporary interruption in supply. "When it's happening, even after the governor has declared an emergency and my office has put the word out to retailers of what we expect, to be doing it this afternoon and continuing to raise prices in Northeast Arkansas I am particularly disappointed in and will pay particular attention to it," said McDaniel. To send in pictures to the Attorney General's office, you can email them at gas@arkansasag.gov or you can send pictures via text message at 501-539-0969. Sickening... >
  10. What affliation (e.g. Exxon, Chevron, etc) do the stations have?
  11. If you're talking to the baseball genius, the Astros played (and lost) in the World Series in 2005. The only NL team to never make the WS is the Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos.
  12. Different lines with different applications.
  13. Come on Burley, everybody knows that you sit at your computer every night in your underwear playing World of Warcraft. The only thing I know about that game is that it was the basis for one of the five best South Park episodes in history. If I'm a gamer, then Long Mike is an illiterate teen who loves to send text messages.
  14. Take care old man.
  15. Better reels on the market for the same $$.
  16. Yep, they would rather that there be NO gas to sell. Higher prices during times like these ensure that there will be no shortages. Higher price=less hoarding.
  17. 'Gouging' simply doesn't exist.
  18. What is 'price gouging'? Price gouging is a pejorative term for a seller pricing much higher than is considered reasonable or fair. In precise, legal usage, it is the name of a felony that applies in some of the United States only during civil emergencies. In less precise usage, it can refer either to prices obtained by practices inconsistent with a competitive free market, or to windfall profits. Non-pejorative uses are generally in reaction to what the writer believes is an unjustified restraint on the market. Reasonable and fair are two terms that are incompatible with capitalism. Unless a gas station owner is holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to buy gas, you can't cry 'price gouging'. Say you sell widgets. Normally, the demand isn't that high. Then a flood passes through and widgets are in high demand due to their being useful for powering your frammistan. Now, would you expect a retailer to sell those now-scarce widgets for his normal price? Of course not. Retailer XYZ doesn't know when he will be able to get another shipment of widgets. Not being able to let the market set prices is a great way to create shortages.
  19. PLine CXX. It'll cure what ails ya!
  20. EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES!!! I guess the NL Central leading cubs are just one of thoose 'easy' teams. -Ike P.S. again, no hard feelings, or disrespect intended. Do you actually know anything about baseball or are you just trying to insinuate yourself. Look at the d**n schedule. Other than this weekend's series against the Cubs, the Astros play one team with a winning record (Florida at 74-72) over the remainder of the season. They also play Pittsburgh (60-86), Cincinnati (66-80), and Atlanta (65-82). The only way that schedule could be any weaker is if they were also playing Washington and San Diego.
  21. Well, they are playing perhaps the easiest schedule in MLB over the next three weeks.
