Ed, Ed, Ed, we ain't going fishin' without the trilene!

I have used  Trilene XL 12# for quite some time and I am very pleased, especially with how it casts. The ponds that I fish do not have a lot of cover or grassbeds so I RARELY break off. If you are fishing really heavy grass, you may want to pick another line. i also like the fact that this line is realtively inexpensive, which allows me to change my line frequently.

My favorite is mono is Stren. I tried Trilene XL and have lost some fish from line breaks. Trilene XT is better but it is a little stiff for me. I find Original Stren is the perfect balance between toughness and castability. It was the first line I used when I started fishing and after many years of trying new lines I have gone back to it.

Trilene big game in 12# or 15# test...depending on what i'm planning to cast.

I use trilene XT as well in 14# for jigs and have absolutely no problems with it.

Although I suspect monofilament is a 10:1 favorite versus all other lines combined, there are much better alternatives. It surprises me that even some of our best anglers on this Forum continue to use this type of line.

On the otherhand, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

8-)

This was my experience too when using Trilene XL. I never lost any fish with it but it constantly broke when tying the knots. I'd have to tie three or four times sometimes before it would stay tied. I used it for a long time but finally I switched to Stren a couple years ago and have not had that problem since. I thought for a while that it was the way I was tying the knots but apparently it doesn't matter with the Stren I'm using, the original in the purple box.  Works great.

I think you have to be very specific here, as mono refers to a few different types of line.

Nylon Mono: Suffix Elite, Trilene XL, Big Game

FC: XPS or P-line 100%

Copolymer: P-Line CXX

I use Sufix Elite and Trilene XL, with a strong preference for the Sufix. When the time comes to respool my UL and ML spinning rigs, I'll be going with Sufix Elite.

I use Trilene XL for my light spinning reel, Trilene XT for my soft plastics spinning reel, and Trilene Big Game on my baitcasters.  Either that or braid.

I like Sufix seige on baitcasters and Elite on spinning.  Lately, I have been partial to yo-zuri hybrid though.

Even though the G-Power is not a mono, I also absolutely love the stuff but it is getting pretty hard to find. Scored a good inventory on Ebay last month though so I won't be running out any time soon. :(

Trilene XT for me.  It's even better now with the "new" formula!!  Everybody else gripes about it, I LOVE it!!

My favorites aren't even made anymore.

I'm pretty well stocked on Realine co-polymer.

I'm just about out of Rapala Finesse.

Otherwise good old original stren has worked for me for many years.
