The 200E7 is full of win!
Spent about 30 minutes out with it this evening. The VBS doesn't seem to be as effective on the 200E7 as on previous models. I love the extra-open design around the spool. Made tying onto the spool very easy. Casting, other than some VBS issues, was nice. Love the bigger knobs on the handle. Hopefully the new Citica will come with the same handle and knobs. After 30 minutes, I'm sold.

Switzerland bans C&R
Animal Rights Law Passed in Switzerland Catch and Release Fishing Banned 6/9/08 Switzerland has recently passed a law with the intention of clarifying acceptable treatment of social animals. The law that goes into effect September first establishes desirable treatment of animals such as dogs, fish, horses, and even rhinoceroses. An array of animals has been included under the bracket of social animals and a part of this new law states that any of these animals will be considered abused if they are not able to cohabit with another of their species. Under the law dog owners must take a two part course on recognizing the needs of the dog, and properly walking a dog. Swiss fisherman will now be required to participate in a course that teaches them how to catch fish humanely. Catch and Release fishing has been banned; instead fishers must now kill the fish immediately after being caught with a sharp blow to the head with a blunt instrument. This law affects farmers as well, who are barred from restraining horses, sheep, and goats. Pigs and cows must not be forced to reside in areas with hard flooring. Although animal rights groups are jumping for joy over this new law, many Swiss farmers are complaining of the numerous extra costs it will require them to run their farms. http://www.ussportsmen.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?pid=929&srcid=240

THE PENNANTS ARE "ALMOST" IN VIEW AND THE TRASH IS FLYING- 2008
The Cards are probably the third or fourth best team in the NL and they're not even going to make the playoffs. Boy, the Mess sure are making a run. Guess old Willie was the problem after all.

The 200E7 is full of win!
The paint on this thing is sick. Size-wise, I would compare it to the Revo Premier. Very low profile, palms quite nicely. The addition of the power paddles was quite welcome. Some offset in the handle would have been nice, as would have bearing supported handles. All in all, from a purely aesthetic perspective, it's a kickass reel. Compared to the Citica 100DSV (same frame as Curado 100D), it is smaller and lighter. Not the best photos though...

Let's see your fishin' hats
Only 15? I go through hats like plastic worms. When they opened the new Wally world and closed the old one, I found a rack full of real nice "Ranger Boats", "Champion" and "Gamakatsu" caps. They were regularly $10 a piece. Marked down to 2 for a buck. I bought the whole rack. More than 30 caps. 18 months later, I am re-washing the last 1/2 dozen or so. They will be gone soon. I had a couple of pre-cancer spots removed from my bald scalp, so I never go outside with out a bean cover. Ronnie 15 or so in the regular rotation. 85% of them have a big C or a big T on them. The rest are vendor hats we get a work. If you could see my hat storage boxes... :-[ When you have no hair, a hat is a precious thing.

Singular? I've only got about 15 that see regular use.

The 200E7 is full of win!
All I have to compare it to is a Citica 100DSV. I'll snap some side-by-side photos when I get a chance.

Under the Lights
Can't beat the truck race at Bristol. $8 tickets and good seats. Everybody's favorite driver won in a somewhat boring race. No one had an answer for Busch. Still can't get the smells of the track out of my nose...

dropshotting
A pegged worm weight would work in a pinch. The casting sinkers with the brass loop will also work. You do want to use something that will allow you to retrieve the hook and lose the weight if necessary. I fish the rig from 1' to 30', usually use either a 1/8 or 1/4. I base the weight on what I'm doing with the rig. If I want it to stay on bottom, I'll go with a heavier weight. If I'm fishing it horizontally, I'll go with a lighter weight. Sometimes I'll fish the rig on a straight bluff wall. When doing that, I tend it fish it more like a jig and vary my sinker weights to change the rate of fall. I was fishing a tournament last summer on Douglas in Dandridge. The fish only wanted a finesse worm and a 3/16 oz. weight. 1/8 was too slow, 1/4 was too fast. I found that out pretty quick when I ran out of 3/16 weights.

Russians stole our Humvees!
I don't trust the Russians one tiny bit. They're like that vampire friend you had in college. You knew that no matter how nice they were, the minute you turned your back they were ready to strike at your neck.

Last Day of Summer
My classes just started yesterday. I wasn't quite ready for the summer to be over. It's been almost 10 years since I last took any classes. I miss the challenge. Lord knows my writing ability has taken the biggest hit.
