Question About Worm Fishing
+1 to the sit and lift. I have taken a ton of bass on texas rigged worms and craws I have had bass literally take the bait right off the surface as it hit and a fair number on the fall but most come when the bait touches and sits then gets a pop of a few feet. Lots of bass have taken the bait either slaked on the bottom or just as I start to lift. fewer swimming to the next drop (usaully small males doing that) hope that helps: I am sure that there are pros and better worm guys than I who might add more insight or tips on what I might not be right about just sharing what has worked for me in the flat part of Ohio

Spinning Reel Line Choice
thanks again guys for the advice and comments, I hope that I did not come across as offensive or ignoring advice I asked for: just sounds like braid is not the right line for me after all. I wrote Berkley about my troubles and dislikes of the line but they did not reply. I was not looking for my money back but did want to share my concerns. Floating should be posted on the box. Not a problem for guys who usually use weighted baits, but I like to toss the craw weightless as it seems to swim down a bit more naturally and I get snagged up in the rocks much less

Spinning Reel Line Choice
Thanks for the advice guys. its very much appreciated but the bottom line is I just plain don't like the crystal fireline. The floating with the wind blowing and gusting was a pain the the rump to contend with. I always hand close the bail, as for casting motion, I have never had an issue using mono regardless of a side arm or single handed over head. I have always tipped the reel on inpact but never closed the bail as the bait splashed. never had an issue whre I would have needed to do something different. the short of it is that if all braids need leaders, a new casting motion, and/ or putting up with a bunch of nonsense then its not right for me. I count myself lucky to be able to fish once or twice a week through the warmer months and won't spend have of that respooling or tying on leaders. I liked the extra feel I noticed with the fused braid but know it did not translate to one more fish that I would have missed using mono.

Spinning Reel Line Choice
Thanks for the warm welcome. The loops were not the product of normal wear and abuse it was pretty weird to see really. the reel is a Johnny Morris from bass pro rated for the 8-12 (as stated on the spool anyway) I have spools the reel a couple times with mono last summer (did not get the reel until mid summer and had limited water time there after) No knots or issues with mono on the reel. I was on the road yesterday for most of the day and could not read your (all) advice before I needed to pick something up to be able to fish today I bought p line lo-vis which I used before but as you all know the mono line stretches so much. With the weird weather a really nice number of big bass are holding just off the nests and when they see something they like (nearly exclusively craw pattern soft baits) they crush them. I would love to have less stretch when picking the bait up know a bass has just grabbed it to be able to set the hook with certainty thanks again for the help and I will be checking out the mentioned on line stores and pick up a spool or two of many of the suggested lines to try out over this summer tight lines brothers

Spinning Reel Line Choice
Hi guys, new to the forum but long time bass fisherman. I just wasted 15 bucks on berkley fireline crystal yesterday . By bass number three this morning I was getting wind knots starting form and hate that the line floats; oh and for lo-vis. it can be seen a long way away Anyway there is a bass pro less than an hour from me in NW Ohio and where I get most gear as I don't really know of any on-line stores and hate to buy from a site by just how slick their pages look. A recommendation for an on-line store that works fair and reasonably fast would welcome. could I also get a recommendation as to what line I should use on my spinning reels. I use them mostly for soft plastics. I love to(/generally have to in NW Ohio) use a rigged worm or craw (nearly always weightless) I like to use between 8-10 lb line for most places I fish. A few places the water is so clear that I have to go a little lighter I do not have experience with braid but know some guys swear by the stuff.
