Worm Boxes?
hey guys, how do you (all) carry your soft plastics. I really want to keep the baits in their original bags (it helps me remember what size color etc) and they seem to me to stay fresher.

They Could Have Been Killed On Erie!
I love Erie: its a wonderful, challenging place to fish for sure: but you just have to respect her: storms come up fast and mean everyone who is out has stories to tell of how fast this lake can be turned on its ear in a heart beat I got to see six water spouts form as a massive thunderstorm grew right in front of us while taking a class at Stone Lab (Ohio State's Erie research station) on South Bass Island (actually a tiny island just inside put-in bay) I worked the radio reporting the spouts and their directions while the captain gave me a crash course in operating the big boat and how to keep her safe if something happened to him in the storm. the forecast by the way was for a 20 chance of a passing shower. That was before doppler radar was common and no cell phones yet either LOL the bigger bass boats are safe on Erie but you must know the weather and know how to handle the waves

Cleaning Plastics
regarding the Mr. Clean eraser: I wondered that too. I would hate to damage the surface are there any coatings I should be applying once it is clean ???

Cleaning Plastics
I was going in the direction of like car wash with maybe a bit of oxy-clean type of product to add to it

Cleaning Plastics
I recently scored a great little boat (10'2" bass tendor) the price was so good that I could not pass it up but the boat does have a little bit of mildew on the seats and on the boat itself I know it will clean up fine but wondered what most folks use as their go to cleaner and if there is another product that should be used as a protection sort of like wax with cars I am not a clean freak or anything like that but love the girl and want her shined up a bit and to make sure the boat lasts for many more years to come as the odds of me affording a real bass boat anytime soon is very unlikely I plan to store her inside winter and summer. It looks like she was stored in side until very recently as the damage is quite minor but I still want to shine it up as much as get rid of those few little patches advice will be appreciated thanks Briney

All Ohio Fishing
I have been on the big lake perch fishing for the past few weekends but my luck ran out in finding a ride out I just bought a new to me bass tendor 10' boat which is super nice and I was lucky enough to get a killer deal on anyway i will be heading out somewhere with it this weekend to do some bass fishing and to scout out a possible location to set up a high school tourn. for some of my students I was thinking of a two level deal with a shore fishing level and a jon boats group too two man teams where the land guys have to stay within so many feet of each other and take pics rather than keeping bass for a weigh in finally with no prize money etc I hope that will kill the urge to cheat that formate as much as possible

Northern Ohio Bass Fishing
guys I need some help some students have approached me about starting a club/high school team. (I teach in Bellevue ohio) I talked with one person who is involved but our next step would be to meet with the area club to find some guys who might be willing to share a bit of boat time with a student athlete for practices and go to a tournament or two (no clue how many that would really be but not important at the moment) trouble is that there are no Federated clubs currently operating. Do any of you know of a club that may not have a large web presence but be located along the North Central (near Sandusky) Coast of Ohio that may have a little interest in this and their contact info thanks for your time David

High School Bass Fishing Team/club
If there are any guys from Ohio that are involved in a league that might be able to help with contacts or advice with local guys who would be interested in helping us get started or willing to take kids out on their boat for practices etc that would be great to hear from

High School Bass Fishing Team/club
I know there are a fair number of adult leagues/tournaments here in Ohio but I don't know much about those leagues etc. I live up on the North side so most of those clubs are on Erie or travel down to the southern half. There aren't many lakes big enough to support a full blown tournament in-between.

Sunglasses - Flying Fisherman
before having to use a Rx lens for getting old, I used a polarized lens that were light yellow (i.e. a shooting lens) or basic black which can be a pain with light levels for fly fishing guys its more important than just being able to see into the water its also a vital eye protection. When a made the change over to rod and reel fishing I never lost that second nature of using the glasses as eye protection which came in handy when my son pulled a lure out of a weed mat and it flew across my face where it would have hit me square in the eye so if there is anyway to get good sturdy glasses even if they cost a bit more splurge eye protection may not be as critical as when fly fishing but it seems to me to be money well spent

how about some advice even if its not based on direct experience?!

High School Bass Fishing Team/club
is anyone involved with one in their town? I teach in Ohio and a couple of boys found out I love to bass fish and have started talking about forming a team or something along that line. I am not a tourney fishermen as I can't swing bass boat but we might be able to find "guide dads" willing to take the boys out if I were doing a lot of the leg work etc. but I have not real clue what this would entail. I have written that student bass league and the Bass Federation today asking for their advice but would really like to hear from folks who are in those sorts of situations what I am getting myself into

All Ohio Fishing
rough day at Resthaven: I saw a few fish but could not get a single bite went with a senko type worm for half the evening and chatter baits the rest. so slow and fast and nothing either way wish I knew what change to have made I figured with the very cold nights (upper 40's to low 50's) here that slow but big might be the ticket but nothing the faster chatter bait caused a couple of fish to turn around but that is the most they were willing to do ideas

The Big Green Egg
guys don't buy one until you have been over to the web site smoke ring.com. I do a ton of bbq and some pro catering and hang out there from time to the time. I use a stick burning smoker so I don't have direct experience with these but do know a couple of things first: they are not all created even close to equal. the real big green egg has great reviews and folks swear by them but the copys are often very frustrating to use also switching from gas to charcoal and wood will blow the roof off the flavor but takes a lot more time and prep. it frustrates some guys who want to push a button and flip some burgers or a steak (not knocking them but you have to know that going in) wind will always be an issue even with the egg (but less I think?) the green egg can do both with the right set ups just work with your dealer and know what you want to do going in. the down side of the egg seems to me to be that it is slower than gas to get going and is not as big of a cooking area as some grills so know what you want to do before you spend the coins and get your eat'n pants out as bbq and charcoal grilling will ruin you from ever eating off gas again next know that bbq is not the same as grilling: ribs and pulled pork are over the top good as bbq but poor grilled (indirect and 250F for hours verses direct heat and 350+ F)

Set Up Advice For Guy Pretty New To Baitcasters
I was sort of thinking the same way: that the shorter rod would not be as likeable and end up in the back of the rack. I have a couple of spining rods that I rarely pick up as I have fallen in love with the longer rod even though its a bit harder to get around in a short bed pick up truck or the wife's crv

Set Up Advice For Guy Pretty New To Baitcasters
looking at new prices makes, 200 for two set-ups unlikely so I am focusing on just getting one for that money how about rod length? I like my spinning rods around 7 feet but the one bait caster I bought is shorter it feels weird to me but would like to hear length preferences from you (all) please

Set Up Advice For Guy Pretty New To Baitcasters
thanks very much for the thoughtful post. It helps Here is what I can answer for you I have a tiny jon boat that I am able to fish a few places with. some ponds are timber filled (old flooded wooded areas) but most are weeds and grasses. The man made stuff is rock bottom in the flat part of ohio. I still fish a fair amount from shore too I generally don't use big baits but am looking to expand what I do and take the sport a bit more serious. I used to fly fish more but have developed more interest in bass fishing right now. I like the medium action on the baitcast rod I have but wanted to hear what most folks think about rod type when selecting. I know I would not like that much bend on a rod that I am casting worms or craw type creatures on I was able to stash away a couple hundred bucks that was outside the family budget and would like to be able to find two good used set ups or one really good one and keep using the spinning rod for the other types of baits

Set Up Advice For Guy Pretty New To Baitcasters
sounds like very good advice and thanks for sharing. how about rod choices: a good bait casting rod for basic worm fishing one for crank baits and one for spinner baits

Set Up Advice For Guy Pretty New To Baitcasters
I have only very recently started using a baitcasting rod and reel. Not super smooth at using it like I am with spinning reels but am sure that over the rest of summer and next year I will get up to speed and like some of the extras that bait casting seem to provide over a spinning set up I have a medium sized 6' ish medium weight and very bending tip johny morris rod with matching reel. for most of my life I have been a worm guy but not very serious of a bass fisherman. I like the weight-less senko type worms (actually use a poor boy brand version that I like very much) but want to use crank baits more often and learn spinner baits. could you all give me some general tips as to lenght, weight, and action for a rod and reel for worming, crank baits, and spinner baits there is a pretty cool bait shop in Indiana near where a fair share of used rods and reels come through at prices a poor old teacher can afford but don't want to go in clueless thanks in advance for the knowledge
