  1. Line per turn has to do with the diameter of the spool. Some reels have taller spools than others, which explains the variation in line per turn among various 6.3:1 reels per say.
  2. Dude your math is so far off.. C=pi * d, but d is not d of handle'a rotary motion, but rather the spool! The length of the handle has nothing to do with length per turn! You could put a 100ft long handle on a 30 ipt reel, and it will always be 30 ipt. Or you could put a 5 mm handle on it and it would still be 30 ipt. No offense tho. It is a common misconception.
  3. 201e or ch101d7 or core 51 And Not sure on the rod, but probably an NRX or NFC. High end croixs are nice too. Yawn
  4. the Curado 50/51e was $199 too. They only raised the price on the 200/201 size from 179 to 199 when they introduced the Chronarch E.
  5. Look for a used 200e. Best reel I've ever used
  6. the ci4+ Doesn't have magnetic brakes. The dial on it tunes the centrifugal brakes by making all the ones in the on position slightly more/less powerful.
  7. I have never gone below or above 30 pound and it does dig when you catch a fish, but it's not too bad. The extra casting distance is worth it.
  8. Tie on a 10-15 ft fluoro leader to absorb some of that shock, and maybe step up to 15 lb.
  9. For spinning reels, stick with 10-20 pound braid. I like 15. Then use a 10 or so lb fluoro leader. 30 lb braid is way too thick for spinning reels IMO, and 20 is pushing it as well but doable.
  10. Looking to buy a lowrance 4x or 5x. Anyone know of a place that has these on sale or maybe another similar unit on sale for about $150-250? Thanks
  11. If you want a real Gary Loomis rod, look at edge rods / NOrth Fork composites. They use carbon wrapped grips which you might like.
  12. How do you know it can't cast as far as the other two if you've never used them? Lol
  13. I should've clarified.. Large bow in line + long cast + slack enough that a good 10 yds or so was floating between the dropshot and the low tension now in the line. I could feel the bites every time. Not completely slack obviously, but who casts and pulls line off their reel until it is sagging completely in the water? Lol
  14. please give a quick review of it's on the water performance when you get it out on the water!! Glad to hear that it is higher quality than the smallmouth. I would be happy if it was equal in quality to the smallmouth, but I'm not complaining! Must resist buying one...
  15. I sent a 6'6" rod for $13 in a PVC tube the other day.. USPS. I don't know how. LOL
  16. Fast is way more versatile on any Croix rod. The XF action on their rods is really fast compared to most XF out there. I would choose fast every time.
  17. Some braids do.. The other day, I was fishing wacky rigs on braid and with a large slack bow in my line, I could feel the tap every time. I'm guessing the stiffer braids like power pro can do this but not the more limp braids like tufline.
  18. They aren't available yet until 9/9/2014 I believe.
  19. Ok reel... Not as good as the E, and way more finicky than a lews or Abu reel on the cast. Even with 10 lb line, it couldn't cast as far as a tatula with 15 lb even though the tat was on a stiffer rod that didn't load as well. It does cast some lures very nicely.
  20. Not a cool idea at all.. No way in lending $150-200+ reels to anyone. LOL
