  1. 2013 F-150 4x4, FX4 Super Crew, Ecoboost - boat is a 8 foot Sun Dolphin Sportsman pond boat. It gets the job done - area is loaded with 5mph no wake lakes.
  2. Finally got a trailer for the 8 foot pond hopper - took her out today - temps were in the low 50s .... yeah it's July. Went to Walnut Creek Lake in Papillion Nebraska.
  3. well I didn't get the Harbor Freight trailer - found trailer on Craigslist - an old jet ski trailer with a platform built on it. I went this route for several reasons .... one I didn't have to put it together as I would have with the HF trailer, plus then I would have to mount a plywood floor anyway. This one did all that for me... I have to make a few adjustments and I probably will re-wire it too. But the best thing is not having to load my boat in the back of my truck anymore. I do need practice backing it up though.
  4. I just wired the red to red and black to black for the plugs and TM - the big foot has two black wires and I just wired one to the red and one to the black. I used wire connectors - the tape is just to keep it all together.
  5. well the wife has OKed me getting a trailer for my boat - looked on Craigslist but everyone on there is either on crack or just plain crazy cause they have most listed for more then what you would pay for a new one - plus some don't even come with a title. Getting a new one I will know I will get a title and at least 90 day warranty - only draw back is having to assemble it and put a plywood floor on it but the price is right. http://www.harborfreight.com/950-lb-capacity-foldable-4-ft-x-8-ft-utility-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-42709.html
  6. took my boat out today - not too good a day cause storms were rolling in and it got a bit windy - only caught a few blue gills and one catfish.
  7. well I'm no electrican myself but it was pretty easy hooking it up so you should be able to figure it out.
  8. I have that step up - and I wired in this plug below - can't remember which place I got it from but it was either Bass Pro or Cabela's - we have both stores close by to me. I have it so I can unplug it and either take the TM off the boat and the floor with the big foot switch attached to it can be lifted out of the boat - I usually clean the boat out and spray it down after a few times out on the lake. Hope these help - if you have any more questions let me know. I made a video of all my modifications I made to my boat but I can't figure out how to up load videos - if any one knows and can teach me I would appreciate it.
  9. Timbertoes, this is what I did and used - piece of metal from an old road sign, mounted it to a steal pipe I got at Lowe's, got the MK TM bracket off e-bay ($30) - it works great, I just tighten the screw down real tight and it doesn't move. Hope this helps.
  10. not sure if it's normal cause I have had mine for over a year and haven't had that issue but there is a drain plug on the front of the Sun Dolphin Sportsman if that is the one you have - you can pull that out and stand it on end - it should drain pretty quick.
  11. like Denea said a top water for lilly pads - frogs seem to worked best for me. as far as all that tackle - check out some of the instructional videos on this site - there is a world of info they share that I still find something new or I didn't know.
  12. thanks for that Idea - I've been kicking around all sorts of ideas to keep my Fishinbuddy from pinching down on the plastic on my Sundolphin. I'll give your idea a try - like the U to keep it from moving.
  13. If you keep looking I'm sure a better deal will come along. Even though I already have my boat, I always take a peek at craigslist to see whats out there. Not sure how far you are from Lincoln Nebraska but I thought this one was a pretty good deal - might be something you would be interested in or kind of gauge pricing for a used boat ..... $650 for boat, motor, battery and trailer - it almost make me want to get a second boat ... if I had the room to store it. http://lincoln.craigslist.org/boa/4511144351.html
  14. That's a cool little boat - thanks for the link
  15. Thanks for your service - stay safe and safe return home - I can't help you on the boat as I only have a little 8' pond boat but I saw the title and wanted to say thank you.
  16. Ditto on what Mark said - nice job on that boat. Ever think of putting in a couple pedestal seats (front and rear)?
  17. I have a Sundolphin Sportsman and mounted this rod holder to mine - I got it at Bass Pro - it's designed to hold 4 rods but sometimes I put up to 6 in it - just becomes a little crowded. I usually use it for my baitcasters cause they are one piece - my two piece spinning rods I lay on the floor of the boat. Like you I like to take several rods as I sometimes don't know what I will fish for and have rods set up for different fishing. Hope this helps.
  18. Nice looking setup - have you thought about making a rudder for it? Makes a world of difference. Took my sundolphin sportsman 8' out today - caught a few crappie and one LM.
  19. I fish a lot of the smaller (no wake lakes) in the Bellevue/Omaha area - I use a pond hopper type boat but it gets me where I need to go to find some big fish. But it would be pretty cool to have another resource to find where these big boys are hiding.
  20. I have one on my Sun Dolphin Sportsman - mounted it to my plywood floor and it works great. I hand steer with not that much of a problem - if it's really windy I move around a little but nothing that I can't correct. I have my TM mounted on the bow and I also put on a extention for my TM handle - kind of puts the hand control in my lap when I'm sitting in my chair or if standing I can use my hip or leg to steer a little - the big foot switch is a big plus when doing this. I haven't noticed any change in my battery life since installing it but I haven't really checked it.
  21. I got one of these and it works great - I mount it on the side so I can adjust it when needed. It clamps on the side of the boat and hangs over into the water - like I said works great for what I need. I also have a Sun Dolphin Sportsman as you know. http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-110-Fishin-Buddy-Ultimate-Portable-Fishfinder/product/97460/
  22. sweet looking wall hanger SCTRAILHIKER - can't wait to get out in my boat however our spring seems to have been lost somewhere. Had a little snow again last night - man it's freaking April already enough of the winter weather lol
  23. Welcome aboard in ownership of these fine watercraft - I love my Sun Dolphin Sportsman - gonna take it out I think next week as it is suppose to be nice weather.
  24. If you need help with modifications to your boat hit me up on messenger or the on going pelican thread - I posted pictures of the many things I have done to my Sun Dolphin Sportsman.
