New senko rig.
Hmm interesting. It might work in open water, only thing I see is that with two exposed hooks you would hang up a lot more if you were fishing it around cover.

Shad Run
Anyone been able to go out? This is what the Free Lance Star (Fredericksburg newpaper) said about the river this past thursday "RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER: Right now, the river has many different species in it. Lee Cherwek of Fredericksburg demonstrated that recently by catching shad, herring, crappie, largemouth bass, white perch and bream all within sight of the City Dock. Ken's Tackle shop reported a good run of white perch from the Old Mill Park area of the river. Bloodworms are working well. There have been reports of decent stripers caught between the Falmouth and Chatham bridges. Shad are also being caught in good numbers throughout the river, mostly around the Fall Line." Sounds like things should start heating up if they havent already.

NOVA Newbie
Is there only bank fishing at Belvoir or is there a boat launch as well?

About JJs magic, do you use the chartreuse color or one of the others? I think I want to give it a try this season.

Shad Run
Yeah I'm trying to decide if I should come home this coming weekend or wait til the next one to hit the run at its peak. Anyone have any ideas? I guess I'll just play it by ear and see how people are doing this week

Burke area anglers
I've told myself I am going to give night fishing a go this summer and was actually thinking Burke might be a good lake to try on. Big bass, electric only so unlikely to run into any problems (hit unseen things, etc : ) I assume you launch from the public ramp up by the dam? Do you just use basic night fishing lures and techniques? Thanks
- Some bass from the North East.

My outing My nuisance gator call
I've got a question about how gator fishing works. Are all these gators you catch nuisance calls about gators that need to be caught or is it like hunting where you have to buy a permit for every gator you catch? Or can you just catch gators for the hell of it in Florida?

Shad Run
As far as how long they run, I know I was catching them last year around April 20th. It varies a bit each year too depending on how fast it warms up, etc.

This site is painfully SLOOOW!!!!
Yeah, never had any problems with connection here. He must have dial up from the early 90's? :-/

What got you hooked?
I used to go with my dad when I was young. Been hooked ever since that. It must've just been born with me because as long as I can remember I was fascinated with fishing

Shad Run
I did it last year for the first time in the Rappahannock. Theres something special about catching bass that no other species of fish will do for me but it was still a lot of fun. Any day you can go out and catch 40 fish in 2 hours is fun. Yeah definitely use light spinning gear and it'll make it more enjoyable. I'm pretty stoked to have them run again this year, it signals its warming up . I'm gonna make a trip from Tech back home to Fredericksburg one weekend just to be able to hook into some. They run the James too right?

Motts Run Reservoir

Bass Dreams
Haha I have so many dreams about fishing, mainly during the winter when it's always on my mind. Some are very very weird, like catching floating bass under my bed lol ;D. Others are pretty realistic where I specifically remember what lure I was using, how I was working it, etc. The weird part is that I almost always visit the same lake in my dreams. It has the name of a local reservoir around here that I fish a lot but the lake in my dream doesnt look like it does in real life. In my dream I'll be fishing this made up lake then I'll wake up and think "I've fished there in my dreams before". It's kinda strange, maybe there's something wrong with me :-?.

Motts Run Reservoir

Motts Run Reservoir
Yep no problem Edit: Oh yeah and one more thing, I dont know when you plan on going but later on in the fishing season (prob in a month or so) the local Fredericksburg paper, the Free Lance Star, publishes fishing reports and one of the places is Motts Run. The reports always sound positve, even if the fishing might not be so good, because they want to encourage people to fish and buy their permits but it offers some insight. To see them just go to fredericksburg.com and look in the Free Lance Star section and go to 'Archives'. Type in 'fishing reports' and you should see them. PM me if you can't find them or have any other questions

Motts Run Reservoir
You can buy the permits at the little shop thing that is at the lake. If you do go then go on a weekday if you can, the weekends around here see the lakes getting pounded. Most people will be beating the bank so if you have a fish finder then locating offshore structure might be rewarding. I've heard of a submerged island somewhere up by the dam end (left after you launch) but have never been able to locate it. The cove on your right, on the far side of it (if your heading back in the cove the side thats on your left) theres a huge submerged beaver dam. Its about in the middle of the cove, 15-20 feet from the shore. I've always seen fish stacked up on that but have thrown the boat at them and never got a hit. I know that bass are caught from there though. You can catch crappie off of it too. Its definitely a pretty lake, but if theres a bunch of other boats on the water it ruins the ambiance a bit. If you do hit it up let us know how it goes

Striper running the Rappahannock?
Yeah according to the VDGIF striper are in the tidal portions year round. I have only fished the Rappahannock for smallies above the fall line so I have no experience with the stripers. Maybe these guys were just catching stripers that are always in there?? Edit: I guess we posted at the same time cjbs2003. Hmm, interesting, that makes more sense then having them in there now

Striper running the Rappahannock?
A friend's dad told me he heard guys at work saying they had gone out and were catching them near the Route 3 bridge off of minnows. I remember reading the stripers ran the river but I thought it was later in the year. Anybody got any info on this, is it just a rumor? :-/ If its true I wouldnt mind trying to hook into some
