  1. WELL i AM FISHING ABOUT 3 TIMES A WEEK. SO THATS NOT IT.
  2. ok, so I am using stren mono 12 lb. test on my bait caster, and been on there for the begining of the year. The line is curling, and getting wraped around my rod tip. So do I need to replace the line on this? still trying to figure this stuff out. Thanks
  3. I was getting a ton of hits and the bass taking my frog only to spit it back out or loose it. I then started to look at the frog design, and took some needle nose pliers, and curved the hooks a little more outwards, and a little up some, and even took a little off the legs. Now I use the boohyah pad crasher, and man what a difference it made. I caught more bass by doing this. one morning had a total of 19 strikes hits, and caught 12, as before I would not have had that many bass in the kayak. Still weedlees, but requires less clamping of the bass to set the hooks better. Just my thoughts on how I improved my landing bass. Sometimes they would take it under water and you could feel them only to see them come off. Try this with the p,liers and see if that helps some. Worked for me, so may help you some.
  4. I bought one of the self inflatable ones. It is light, not bulky and will inflate if you go in water or manually inflate it. on sale $80.00, like it, now when I fish with my kayak i have more freedom and do not get hot. Best money I spent for me and my kayak.
  5. I have thought about trying those, talked to a couple of guys that have used them. But they say they do not last very long with bass ? Just try to decide if i should spend the money on them, just for them to last just 1 to 2 fish. What is every ones thoughts?
  6. I have rod harness, clips onto your yak and if it goes over, you pull it up.
  7. Yes I have a depth finder on my kayak, so I need to put that on there and hit the deep spots . Have never had luck with worms, but wanted to start using them.
  8. Well been out several times right as sun is coming up and man the Bass here in Southwestern Indiana are not doing much. Only caught this one this morning on a frog, but the past 3 times I have been out it has been very hard. Still learning these Bass, do I need to go deep for them ? I have tried a lot of lures, maybe not the ones they want? Any help would be great on how to go after these guys in my Kayak, I do have a fish ,depth finder . What do you guys use? Thanks for any help, Brian
  9. I just purchased a Lews Speed Spool, price is $99.99, but got mine at American Legacy for $79.99 on sale, very light weight, smooth and is an awesome reel I must say.
  10. I just got the Lews Speed Spool, and man it is sweet. light and quiet, I am use to my old reel having several back lashes each outing, but never once with this reel, I am very impressed with this reel, and will not buy any other. I got mine on sale at American Legacy, it is normally $99.00, but they have it on sale for $79.99, so hard to pass it up.
  11. Ok, So I went with a Lews speed spool SSG1SH baitcaster, they were on sale for $79.99 from $99.00, and then went with an Abu Garcia, Vendetta Heavy medium 7 ft rod/ The reel is 7.5:1 gear , the guys at American Legacy told me for what I want to spend, this would be the best for me to get going on. I paid $125.00 for both, so will try it out in the morning.
  12. So looking at this rod, Lew's Team Lews HM85 Million Graphite Casting Rod, and if I go with it, what is a good baitcasting reel to put on it for maybe 50.00
  13. So I have been fishing with a shakespear baitcaster and ugly stick rod, paid 55.00 new for the combo, and tho must say, it works decent, I find that I need to get something a little better to fish with. So I know this is not much, but would like to keep the cost about $125.00 for baitcating reel and 1 piece rod, I am thinking a 6'10-7'0 long rod for bass. Friends say Shimano and Lews are what they use and I have casted a couple of times with a lews, and was nice. My question is, what are some good ones for that price that may be a good combo. Any help would be great. Thanks
  14. That river you fish in, is it Sugar creek river? I have fished that river and had fun catching smallies on it.
  15. Yes, that is what I was wanting to know about. Lake Cumberland. I heard it was pretty good but no clue. Just love fishing for the smallies.
