Appreciate the comments. Sounds like a lot of guys prefer the Yamaha motors (know its subjective). I dont care what it is, I just want something reliable. I understand that with purchasing older boats there will be certain unexpected costs..that being said, I have no brand loyalty, just want reliability.

Ya thats a good point. I included about 800 for registration and insurance.. I would be looking for a tournament style boat. Fiberglass, at least a 150, etc..

Hey Guys - I am in the process of procuring a new boat . My budget is $8,000 - $8,500. I am looking for some feedback about the type of boats that are available in that budget, what brands (ranger, triton, stratos, etc) should I focus on and what you would recommend (boats, motors, etc). VIce Versa, what to stay away from....stories, expierences, recommendations are welcome!

Just picked this unit up, as the topic states it comes with Navionics Gold. However, after installing the unit and taking it on the water, I did not notice a difference in the base map Lowrance programmed and Navionics Gold chip included in the bundle. I toggled between the two in chart mode. I fish a fairly large and popular body of water, Lake Champlain. Were my expectations to high? I thought the chip would be a little better. Am I doing something wrong? Should I upgrade the chip? Feedback is appreciated.

Just bought my first boat; 93' Bass Tracker 25 hp. I noticed when I am trimming the motor up, it will shock me when the motor is trimmed all the way up or all the way down. Any feedback/suggestions why this is happening? Is it a ground?

the towing will be relativley short distances; 5-20 miles. I may have to tow it home, 200 miles. I am worried about breaking and the tongue weight on the suspension as well. I dont have an exact weight for the tongue, makes me nervous. The truck has been great and I dont want to abuse it.

Was looking for some towing feedback. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with a 2.7. The truck is rated for towing 3500# and a tongue weight of 350#. I was looking into purchasing a 2002 Pro Craft 165 with a 75 Merc. The boat seems small enough for the Tacoma to handle it, however, I am a little nervous. Any suggestions, expierences? Thanks.

The C looks incredibly like a G!! Upon closer inspection it is a C! However, no it is a casting rod not a reel. But after searching now, I would imagine it must be the rod to match the Abu Garcia Amassaduer C3? But still no info about the rod itself....that I can find.

Anyone ever heard of this. Picked one up used at a pretty economical value. Just curious about it. Cant seem to find any information anywhere about it.
