  1. hey everyone, im interested in buying a new rod for pitchin, texas rigged plastics, im currently using a 7' Medium, fast action rod. ive been looking at a little longer rod, anywhere from 7' to 7'6", but im not sure about action and rod weight, i fish usually brush and use 20 lb. fireline smoke, firstly which is better for pitching, mod. fast or fast or x-fast. and for weight, MH or heavy? any suggestions or such would be much appriciated.
  2. i looked at the Powell Diesel, really like the price, but its CHEAP, is it a good rod, like sensitivity and durability? the multi-purpose hook keeper is defiantly a plus, i love those things!
  3. im currently looking at a Abu Garcia Veritas micro guide rod 7' MH fast action for $95, although imay wait until after icast stuff comes out, any comments on the mirco veritas
  4. nope, never fished it, heard its pretty good though, i live in hermitage PA and shaker heights OH.
  5. i was looking at new rods for flipping and pitching and im interested in the Abu Garcia Veritas, but im not sure if i want the micro guide model or not, ive heard both positive and negative about them, what do yall think?
  6. im looking for a new flipping and pitching rod to pair with a Quantum Catalyst reel, i prefer MH, fast or XF action, I want a quality rod but dont want to go over 100, any suggestions or people selling such an item?
  7. Im looking to buy a decent quality casting rod for flipping and pitching, i don't want to go over 100, but i want a quality rod, any suggestions or people interested in selling anything?
  8. thanks, i was using a 1/2 oz. weight, but i wasnt fishing very heavy cover, i will defiantly start snelling my flipping hooks. MORE TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS (new baits and tackle) ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED THANKFULLY
  9. i was going to try the punching rig, i bought some punch skirts and rigged them up but, my rod is only MH , is that okay for punching?
  10. Thanks for all the help everyone, more tips and suggestions are always welcome
  11. the texas rig is my go to tackle, i fish it shallow at almost any kind of structure, shallow fish are usually active, which is what makes this such a reliable method, although im not a fan of craws unless im fishing rip rap, i would recommend using lighter weight, i use as low as 1/32 oz. and no higher than 1/2 oz. unless im punch rigging, if your using a lighter weight try spinning gear, if you dont know how look up how to flip with a spinning outfit. they're starting to make flipping hooks which i have really started to like and use alot, especally for larger baits like craws and creatures, as far as hook size, everyone has explained that well. HOPE ALL OF THIS HELPS
  12. up in PA where i live theres a killer pattern in early spring, we run baby 1- 's over shallow weeds, you can catch 20 nice fish in under 2 hours if you hits it right. GREAT PATTERN!
  13. i just bought a pack of the anacondas, they're a bit big for my home lake but i really like the action, i haven't tried the recon's but i dont think id like them, im not a fan of the deep ribs on the body, it makes them hard to texas rig stright.
  14. Hey everyone, im 16 and currently living in Ohio, but visit to PA at least every other weekend, my dad fishes too but works during the week. I don't have a boat, although i'm currently trying to find a VERY cheap one. I'm trying to find someone to fish with, ive been fishing for about 4 years but have gotten very serious about bass fishing recently. I would be very interested in fishing a tourney with anyone, although im interested in someone to just practice fish or fun fish with. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Derek Garner
  15. il probably give braid a try on my casting reel, any recommendations on a good braid that is high vis?
