  1. My Wally World only stocks shame and disappointment unfortunately.
  2. The fewer people the better so anything that can send most other people packing I am down with!
  3. Can't really go wrong with any of those, I cross shop between all brands and try to spread it around a little- each will walk, look, pop, sit and act slightly different and will also have different color options. It's all about getting to know them each individually and figuring out where and when you like to use them. I like the regular bronzeyes (Killer Gill has been my go-to) for walking wake style bait the best (unless I can choose a furbit for faster retrieves and less walk), and I personally like the bronzeye poppers best for popping too. Seems to be slightly more streamlined and I like the satin finish on the plastic for some of their colors. Can't say anything bad about the live target or koppers frogs either though, great frogs for the $$ and I use them too! Spros are just my favorite.
  4. Given the context, this is doubly fantastic haha
  5. Oh mine worked... They even included a turkey call into the gearing at no extra charge! I mean, that right there is something Shimano can't mess with, that's for sure. Yep, once fishing season is over, just bring that smoke reel out into the field and give it a few cranks, those toms will be strutting in no time hahaha I kid, but seriously... I bought a pretty expensive reel from Quantum and it came up WAY short of even my pretty low expectations. It didn't even work as nice as my cheapo combo reels I had bought up until then. Oh well. I'm pretty sure I got a lemon but oh well, that's why they should step it up- Most people won't give them a second shot when there are so many awesome alternatives. Also, KVD could outfish all of us with a snoopy pole, dry rotted mono and a stiff gulp minnow.
  6. Well for the record I think Quantums are inferior to Lew's and Pfleuger too... and don't own either Daiwa or Shimano reels.
  7. That's not refusal to comply, that's a reasonable accommodation based on the rights afforded to me by the same laws and letters that afford them theirs. If I am allowed to have an attorney present during searches and then arrested for attempting to exercising that right, that would be a direct violation of the (very few) rights that we are afforded in this case and would likely result in more paperwork for said officer. Lots and lots and LOTS of paperwork. That said, it is ALWAYS easier to just be cool and let them make sure you aren't a scumbag. I've got nothing to hide. It's worth mentioning that I've never had even the slightest of problems with any DNR guys. Around here they seem to just be great guys just checking in on things and I honestly wish they did more often- lots of people dumping, littering and poaching left and right around here and nobody seems to care except me and a handful of others. If I ever ran into some shoulder chip grower type though, I would not hesitate to exercise my rights. That is why they're there after all! Hope you didn't take my post to mean any kind of disrespect to them or their work, (it is very important!) but the very insinuation that I've given up my rights to be legally allowed to fish I find preposterous, personally.
  8. I've dreamed many times about going vigilante on people. One spot I like to go to has a closed beach on one side- and the ghetto families from the projects down the street go there all the time. Every single group leaves a pile of garbage behind and I've even seen times when the brats they brought were throwing rocks at boaters- and the parents thought it was funny! There have been many days where I would have loved nothing more than to beach the boat, stab the first Dad I can find and then shove all the trash they left behind into the gaping stab wound while the rest of his family learns an important lesson about littering and being a punk in general.
  9. No animal laws are more important than those involving guns, drugs, and any other violent offenders. #hadtobealiberal
  10. That's just because people who know they may want to customize down the road or color coordinate for fun or "something special" will almost always go with a JDM reel. Go ahead, find me more custom handle options for a Quantum than a Shimano... Not gonna happen. It's just another flavor in any case, there's no need to feel looked down on. Some people just like that flash and the sexiness of custom options for stuff. Can't blame them either, since they're not really spending a ton more on a JDM reel anyways in most cases. I would never purchase a Quantum over a Shimano of similar price. Just my .02.
  11. I bought a smoke spinning reel and the d**n thing squeaked so hard right out of the box I sent it right back. It sounded like a tiny little turkey call with every handle turn and although I'm sure it could have been remedied by taking it apart and greasing it all up but I'm not into that on a brand new reel. That was my last interaction with Quantum. For that much money, it should at least be better than that of a reel in a $35 DSG combo- and it was not. For the same money, I like my Floog Supreme XT much MUCH better. Infinitely smoother operating and all the parts just look, feel and interact nicer than the smoke reel. So in the end it's not so much that I hate Quantum, it's just that at just about any price point I think there are better options.
  12. Gotta love it... "Oh these laws are for poachers... Now get out of the boat and prepare for a cavity search, tackle search, car search, and we're kicking in the door to your house right now too" Honestly where is the need for such callous disregard for rights- and where is the differentiation??? No, if someone stops me and tells me I've waived my rights... I'm calling a lawyer immediately even if I know I've done nothing wrong. If five hours later when said lawyer shows up they still want to search my property/vehicle only to find nothing... Good for them I guess? If some badge bully wants to exercise their "right" to search all my property solely at their discretion I'm going to exercise mine to the fullest extent too.
  13. Work is so annoying. Always in the way!
  14. Ugh. These lakes sound like my worst nightmare. I think I'm allergic to being around that many other people. I'd go nuts.
  15. You could always try your local Cumberland Farms. Last time I checked their help isn't paid a ton and probably doesn't care if you grab 2 or 3
  16. 3601s. Gotta love the diagonal separators to squeeze every fraction of an inch out of your 3600 soft sider
  17. I'm kind of freaking out. It is a serial killer of a deal, I just hope nobody beat me to the punch. OH THE SUSPENSE!
  18. For me right now it's how much I really hope this guy hasn't sold this rod yet and he's willing to ship it to me right away. I don't even want to say what it is or how much he's letting it go for, lest the jinx monkey catch a whiff! Could be a dream come true!! Also I need these temps to rise and pads to break the surface again. These frogs aren't gonna fish themselves! So how about you? What's on your mind today?
  19. I'd say I would be ultimately satisfied with 5 really dialed and well executed setups. One UL between 5'6"/6' ... Ideally a Presso casting combo someday. One ML/XF spin setup in the low 6' range... 13 *** Black w/ Floog Supreme XT currently. Love it. One M/M or /MF casting setup in the 6'8"-7'ish range... Hopefully a Dobyns Champ 784CB or 704CB. Undecided on the reel of course One MH/F casting setup around 7'3"... Currently a *** Green w/ Lew's BB1 Pro but hoping someday to upgrade to a 735C or NRX. One H/F casting setup right around 7'... Thinking a real pig wrestler like a Loomis TWFR854C or something. Not positive though. Time will tell.
  20. I don't even wanna get into this man... You should see how bad it is in a few spots I go. Some have straight up washing machines, mailboxes, shopping carts and any number of discarded furniture, trash, nips, cigarette packs, broken glass etc. I bring a bag and do what I can but I can't even begin to express how upset it gets me to see such beautiful places used like landfills. It seriously causes me physical pain.
  21. Smith and Maui Jim are my favorite without getting crazy but I must say, if you're looking for an inexpensive pair of prescription polarized glasses, Wally World has a decent selection and many are even safety glasses certified too. I have a pair from them that has a light brown lens and they have served me very well as fishing/brushwork/chainsaw glasses so I don't mess up my good ones. I think they were $130 with everything- lenses, frames, polarized all that jazz. I never leave home without polarized prescription sunglasses though.
  22. I normally use one of each from my sit-in and zero problems with either style. Cast with confidence, you'll be fine.
  23. Got any pics of that build? I'd love to see them!
