Yeah that's bs that they're still able to use it........it's a shame and it'll prbly add pressure to the surrounding lakes.

First Time Baitcaster...how Much Line Do I Put On?
I'm not saying using tape is wrong or your wrong in any way......also again as I stated in my post it is simply my opinion about putting tape on.

First Time Baitcaster...how Much Line Do I Put On?
Fill the spool as fully as you could roughly 1/8 of an inch from the top of the spool......When I first learned a baitcaster I practiced in a parking lot for a couple hours a day....you really have to develop a feel for it and its all about the thumb...and what I mean by that you gotta develop a good thumb to feather the spool on every cast and stop it once it hits the water.....You could use the tape method but this is just my opinion that method is not going to make you any better because you'll never develop the coordination with your thumb....Your first time using it use cheaper mono because your going to backlash it...and its all part of learning everyone has it happen to them at one time or another. Another suggestion I can give you is throw a lure that weighs at least 3/8 oz the lighter you go and weightless soft plastics can be difficult to cast if your just starting out. Lastly you cant whip it like you would a spinning setup your cast has to be a fluid motion allowing the rod to throw the bait and do most of the work. Practice Practice Practice and you'll love your baitcaster, don't get frustrated with it and be patient with time you'll be just as good as the next person... I put a link at the bottom of this page that will help you get a backlash out its a really good easy method that works majority of the time.

Reel For Deep Crankin - Revo Winch Or Pro Qualifier?
I use the Winch for my deep cranks .....its really smooth/lightweight and you could throw a crank bait a mile with it esp deep divers which with the 5.4:1 gets the bait down quick and keeps it in the strike zone for pretty much the whole cast.....I like it a lot I think it was money well spent and if your not worried about money I would recommend it .....I have not had any issues with it either as far as anything breaking.

Hard Water In Dc/northern Va?
Some frozen some open.......The reservoir by my house is open water on the northern side but the southern side is still iced along with the inlets.......Its honestly hit or miss right now the Potomac is open but its high and muddy from all the recent snow melt off. My parents live up in Scranton and my dad said most the lakes up that way still have 18" of ice which is pretty crazy since its almost March......If your looking to road trip in March the water will most likely be all open down here in NOVA.

Favorite Fluoro
I don't have to know you to make a general statement that sometimes human error is to blame for some things that go wrong when your out on the water....Everyone makes mistakes whether they want to admit it or not, and nobody is perfect......that's why you shouldn't take offense to it. Also everyone has their favorite brands no matter if its fishing line, lures etc.....Im sure there are just as many ppl in the world that like Berkley products as there are ppl who like Seagaur so research is really not applicable for anything because its all product marketing and personal preference in the individual when it comes down to it......I guarantee you if you were to rip the names and brands off of all fishing line spools and put them in a pile of all the same color 95% of people would not be able to tell the difference by brand in fluorocarbon lines..... Lastly if your going to criticize something be open and prepared to take some criticism in return.....or don't put any negative feedback out there at all.

Favorite Chatter Baits And Colors?
White/Chartreuse and Black and Blue cant go wrong works in almost every water condition ........I also like brown with a gold blade for those clear water sunny days.......I like to trailer my chatter baits with a swim bait or a twin tailed grub.....The swim bait trailer will produce larger fish on most occasions.

Shaky Head Question!
Stand upright or as close to upright as possible yes........I use Mega Strike shaky head jigs and even if you have a bait that sinks bc of salt this jig head will make it stand upright.

Deep Diving Crank Help
Well I think as far as what you think is the best brand is more of a personal preference and what works for you to be honest......Strike King, Rapala they're all good crankbaits just depends on what your personal preference is.

Deep Diving Crank Help
I dont fish bombers just Rapala DT series and they make plenty of good shad colors, craw colors, and some signature colors created by Mike Iaconelli. They'll meet your diving depths..... as far as durability and running true they are a great crank.

What Do I Need To Fish The Potomac
I fish up that way alot, if your shore fishing bring a can of corn with you carp average 12-15 lbs however some go 30+lbs. They're a great fighting fish and alot of fun to catch. Also quite a bit of cats in the 2-4lb range in that area chicken livers will do for them.
