Reinforcing Jigs?
get a roll of copper wire I think 24 ga is what I use take a bread tie and wrap it around the skirt where the bait holder is below the skirt keeper. then cut the old skirt band off. cut a 6 inch piece of wire and fold it in half in a u shape slide it around the jig where the old band was hold one end and wrap the other end around tight 2-3 times then place the two ends together take some pliers and twist until it tightens around the skirt trim the wire and fold it down with pliers. remove twist tie and your done I bought a 100 ft roll of wire for like 5 bucks at a craft store .

Winter Bass Fishing
I look for large rock ,rip rap, and steep rocky banks within my selected area . jigs jerkbaits and crankbaits work best for me. for jigs I use a pea shaped head 3/8 is a good starting size depending on depth . don't forget to look shallow especially if you have had a few warm days in a row . fish areas that get hit with sunlight the longest . jerkbaits are good when the sun is shinning it pulls the fish up to catch some heat while cloudy days they tend to relate to the bottom. I have never been to G.ville but these are general winter fishing tips . rock and sun are key for me in the winter.

Best Unit For Under $1000?, Need Suggestions
i have a 899 and don't have any problems or dislikes about it. I think people expect too much from a sidescan unit and are sometimes disappointed. the hummingbird does come in the box with everything you need to mount it and go fishing (other than fuse and wire connectors) the 899 has 3 hot keys witch you preset like a radio station on your car stereo. Most sidescan units of both brands will require a second transducer to read while running at high speeds I have a third small unit in the dash so i don't run a second on my unit but i do believe they sell a Y cable to solve that problem. screen size is key on all SS units and i believe the Humminbird screens are a little wider than Lowrance of the same size lines . I would spend some time in a store playing with them if you are near one if not maybe some guys that you fish with would let you check there units out.( That didn't sound right )

Jerk Bait Rod Advise
I Use the Denali Rosewood Michael Murphy signature series jerkbait rod . it is a 6'8 med action with a short handle that does not interfere with you while working the bait . I love this rod , caught my best small mouth bass (5lbs) on this using a LC pointer .

Need Opinion Of Denali Rod
If you can I would spend the extra 20 bucks and get the Kovert K925FX it has micro guides which makes for a smooth flip. There is Nothing wrong with the jadewood but it is a long rod at 7'11 the kovert comrs in 7'8. if you plan to use for just flipping I would go with the Kovert, but if you did want a rod to throw the A rig the Jadewood would probably be better because the lure weight goes up to 3 oz. where the kovert is 1.5 oz. both are great rods it just depends on what you want to do with them. as for a reel I would not flip with the same reel as tossing a rig for flipping stay with a fast reel like 7.1 to get the bait back to you quickly and for a rig I would use a 5.1 or 6.3 depending on the size of the rig bigger use 5.1 smaller 6.3 the 5.1 will help with the cranking that big lure back to the boat. as for brand of reel I use Lews and Quantum I would not buy a abu Garcia Max reel I have used them all and they don't last if you go abu get a Revo they seem to hold up much longer . good luck

Your Opinion, To Keep Or Not To Keep The Denali's I Just Scored?
I would definitely hold on to them, the rosewoods are great rods it will be hard to replace them with anything better for the money that you have invested. if the rods are still in the plastic maybe you can swap them out for two other rods that you want if you order from Denali and return them in the tubes that your new rods come in. I don't know if they will but it is worth a shot. the Kovert line is the most recent lineup of rods to be introduced from Denali and are great rods for the price. as far as gear ratio go with 5.1 for crankbaits and 6.3 for spinnerbaits 7.1 for flipping 6.3 for jerkbaits and topwater .I have been fishing the Lews reels which are also available for purchase on Denalis website for about 99 bucks each. good luck with your tournaments this year
