Hey Express Kid I don't know if you made your rod purchase yet, but I use Waterloo rods and love them. They are a custom rod made in Victoria , Texas. The owner will make the rod how ever you want it. I don't know what your price range is but they sell for 175 to 225. Jimmy Burns is the owner and he carries a warranty on every rod. My trap rod is 10 years old and haven't had any problems.

My grandparents lived off of FM 3449 so I spent a lot of time next to the big pond when I was young running the woods and fishing when it wasn't freezing outside. We used to spend ever spring break up there fishing in 6 mile throwing spinner baits and gold rogues up against the buck brush. My best memory of T-Bend is one summer we got on a school of fish off shore and tore them up on cran apple worms T-Rig style. Needless to say we had a good fish fry after a couple of days of fishing. If I can find the pictures I will post. Good times on Toledo Bend.

Bassangler08 You look for the irregularities in the grass. What I mean by this is find points or fingers that stick out away from the mat that are not visible by the human eye (High Spots also). Don't be over whelmed by the amount of grass that is matted. It will take some time to find these gold mines, but when you do.. It will be nothing but mining! I have been dropping in the grass for 7 years and I love it period! It will change the way you bass fish in the Summer and Fall. Spend some time graphing before you make a pitch and you will find'em. Game On! 5 pitches = 25+lbs.

I read all pages on this post and it is phenomenal how in-depth this post goes. I want to say thanks catt for all the great tips on this vast body of water. Does anyone have a recent report on the grass in Pirates?
