I am a bank fisher too and during the dog-days of summer I was getting to the lake a couple hours before sunup and fishing top water. I got some nice fish and my buddy caught two 4+ in the shallows. Once the sun came up the banks shut down.

I just started doing a lot of fishing from the banks of a limited access lake this season. I fish from small gaps between the trees and brush. There are a lot of low hanging trees which make casting difficult. My best rods are 60", but they are Utra Lights. When I hook-up I can't muscle, or finesse, the fish past submerged branches. So, I am looking for a short Medium-Heavy spinner rod. So far the shortest I found was a 5'10" M-H from Bass Pro Shops. I worry that the extra 10" may be too big for my casting space. Can anybody suggest a rod or link? Thanks.
