ok thank you. I wasnt too worried about "whats the best color for xyz.." just needed to make sure it didnt affect the fish's ability to see. thanks again. The fish i have gotten out of the pond seems healthy, and the blue gill are enormous!

I am fortunate enough to fish a local private pond well stocked with bass. Owner maintains it very well with aerators and plenty of food for bass to eat. He also treats it with some chemical that, according to him, is to keep a certain type of vegetation form taking over the pond. In turn this changes the water to a robins egg blue color. Its very clear to about 2-4 feet. Does this water color change the way the bass see the lure color? If so what colors would fit this pond best? thank you!

I was using 10lb braid moss green and a 5" dinger, bubblegum lemon swirl. I will use my other pole with 12lb mono and change the color. Thanks guys.

Yea I didn't ask why they weren't biting, I wanted some info on what I may be doing that is spooking them, maybe some previous experiences or insight from someone, not a misinterpretation of my question. I know there is no "line" to the fish's brain, maybe keep the sarcasm out of the forums. Anyway, I was throwing a bright color worm, so I will try a darker color and a more stealth approach next time the conditions return. And I will pay attention to fronts moving in. I have been doing research on the affect of fronts on bass since reading your post Jay. Thanks again guys.

Perhaps a slow moving top water lure? A frog or popper? It was just very odd for that spot. But I understand these fish are very smart and moody. I did notice a lot more turtles in the area also, could that contribute?

I was fishing my sweet spot again today, yum dingers 3/0 no weight, slow approach, and various colors, brights and darks, and the water was clear to about 5ft down, cleanest I've seen it in months. But today I did not get a single bite, in a span of 3 hours, despite seeing DOZENS of bass. I threw close to them, past them, every way I could every time I got within a few feet of them, they would spook and then vanish. My question is what can I throw that might not spook them? And if anyone knows why they may be so jumpy all of a sudden that would help too. These fish are under and around a low hanging walking bridge and it has plenty of cover they hide around and under. Thank u.

It seems like with the slight cooling of the weather that the bass may be moving up into the shallower water, i caught him in about 2-3feet, and there were others with him. Is this typical this time of year? (or maybe its just where im at)

I went to my sweet spot (under a bridge just north of Chickamauga dam on TN river, Chattanooga TN) this morning while i was on my lunch break, which has not been producing in about a week. But wow, i got one today, My biggest fish ever! I did not have a scale, but i know hes about 4lbs. Hes not fat, but pretty long. Yum dinger, dark green red flake, spider wire stealth braid, 3/0 hook. make sure you have your thumb in their mouth deep enough also, you wont hurt them. Once you hold two or three of them and they shake around but dont get away, you will understand what to do and then its just an instinct. Practice is what its all about. Just dont do the same thing over and pver again and expect a different result, im guilty of that sometimes.

well through my experience and tips from these guys on here, it seems like you may be experiencing smaller fish hitting the senko. ive learned that if a fish thats worth reeling in hits a senko/dinger, you dont have to let them "take" the bait before you set the hook. Just fish it with a little slack in the line while its in the water so they can suck it in there mouth (gigity). Ive gotten skunked the past 3 days, ive gotten hits, but its been small bass & decent blue gill biting the worm. Patience grasshopper, and listen to these guys, they are a great help.

I am very blessed with a job that is 5 minutes away from a great spot to fish. I go on my lunch break almost everyday and even if i dont catch a thing, i still get to look around and see the little blue gill or bream, occasional turtle, and listen to absolutely nothing (wich is the best noise in my opinion) My sons are almost 3 and 1, and i look forward to sharing this pass time/ sport with him. An out? absolutely!!

YUM Dinger, Bubblegum lemon swirl (sunny clear days), or Dark Blue & Green (partial to full overcast). Rigged weedless and weightless. Nothing giant this year, but the bass love them.

I have been fishing beside and under a very small bridge that goes over a branch off the TN river in chattanooga tn, and last week i caught at least 1 bass everyday, Today i went out, nothing at all, no bites, nothing. There were storms coming in so the wind was up and water was moving fast. It seems that weather, not so much temp, has more of an effect on them than i thought. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to introduce myself. Name is Dan, from northwest GA, i am 26 yrs old. I grew up fishing from the banks with my grandfather on the back creeks and streams catching bream, bluegill, and catfish. But my passion has always been the Bass. Smallies, spotted, largemouth, i love it. I do not have a boat but a good friend does, and I am looking forward to my first time fishing on a boat soon! I mainly fish the Tennessee river (nickajack & Chickamauga lake), and private ponds. Biggest bass i've even caught was 4 lbs, in a private pond.
