Best Topwater Lure
Cavitrons are the slowest retrieving single blade buzzbait out there and make a wonderful squeaking noise right out of the box.

Shimano Customer Service
I will call Dan and follow Captain Bob's advice.

Favorite Night Time Lure
Big buzzbait with a black skirt, big single blade colorado with black blade and skirt, or a jitterbug.

Smokin Rooster
Haven't used the rooster yet but I'm sure it would work in similiar ways to the space monkey, which I have used and do very well on.

Shimano Customer Service
Yep, now they are telling me 3 weeks minimum again. Probably two weeks before they even look at it. Lousy service for sure.

$200 To Spend
Do you guys feel the Lew's outcast the Curado200e's with light baits?

Fighting Bass On 6 Pound Test
You can land great big bass on six pound test. I land 4 - 5 pound smallies in swift current on it all the time. But when you have any appreciable cover, six pound test is hard to get away with, even with a 2 pounder.

Braid For Spinnerbaits ?
I prefer mono or fluoro, just has more give. I also prefer a crankbait style rod for spinnerbaits, I miss fewer fish and lose fewer fish with one. A MH graphite rod that isn't Xtra fast works well IMO too. I can see using braid in the heavy vegetation though.

The Great Frog Debate- A Must Read!
If I can't find thick vegetation, throwing a frog back into shaded pockets under trees and the like will bring bites. So if you can't find or don't have much vegetation, skip or pitch it back into those shaded pockets and you will get bit.

New Baitcaster!
Go with the Chronarch though, have heard few bad things about these reels and lots of bad about the quantums.
-
New Baitcaster!
Pretty much, except they don't make the Chronarch in the 5.0:1 ratio that the old Curado came in. That to me sucks because I love that slow reel for slow rolling spinnerbaits or fishing them deep, not to mention deep cranking.
-
Which Baitcaster??
Go with the Curado.

Shimano Customer Service
They just got my reel in today and the tech is going to look at it. If it's just the spool that's the issue they will pop in it and send it back quickly they said. Shouldn't take 4 weeks to do that they told me.

Thanks man!

Spro, Scum, Or Live Target Frogs
In terms of fish caught last year, the scum frog popper was the undisputed winner. I believe the spro comes through very heavy cover better though.
-
Dropshot Hook Set ?
Fluoro will do a better job in water deeper than 20 feet, which is most of the time you are drop shotting. I get a lot of bluegills and sunfish nipping my robo worm though too.

Rage Tail
I use the shad and it is one of my best topwater baits, outproducing a normal buzzbait in many waters. The chunk is my favorite jig trailer and I had one of my best years on jigs this spring. I also have the space monkey and they tear it up when pitched into cover and shade.

Shimano Customer Service
Anyone here have much experience with their customer service? I sent my broken spooled curado in a week from yesterday, and they still haven't even looked at it, nor do they even have it in their system I was told. Meanwhile, from my pro qualifier that had the broken spool, I already got my replacement reel from Bass Pro Shops today. What a huge difference. I am not happy with Shimano right now. They told me to call back on Monday.
- Well........ It Finally Happened!

What Brand Fluorocarbon?
P - Line 100% fluoro. Not as expensive as some and has decent abrasion resistance and pretty low memory.
-
Havoc Pit Boss
They are fantastic baits and I use them for flippin and pitchin' to targets mostly. I rig them with a 1/4 ounce parasite head and a 4/0 EWG Gammy. Right now they are my favorite creature bait.

Are They Worth It?
The pointer has an action that other jerkbaits just don't have. The X - Rap has caught just as many bass for me and has a wilder, more hard cutting action. However the flashy finishes and rattles of the pointer get lots of attention in dingy water or windy conditions. The in between action of the pointer falls between and X - Rap and a Rattlin' Rogue. It feels a perfect niche. So yes, they are worth it.

Hook Up Trouble With Flukes?
Rig them upside down with the hook concealed by the belly slit. That's how I rig flukes and it always has worked great.
