  1. Im interested in the St. Croix Legend X rods. They look pretty nice and I'm wondering how they compare to the Legend Elites
  2. I hate the guy that pulls up out of the blue to tell you you are doing something wrong yet you've been catching fish all day. An example of this was a week or two ago I was fishing a Jackall Gantarel around bluegill beds and an older guy idles up next to me and starts saying how he's been fishing all his life and that from his experience I'm fishing way to big of a bait and I'm never going to catch a fish on something that big. You should have seen the look on his face when I caught a 3lber on it right in front of him lol. I also can't stand people who hold spinning reels upside down. It doesn't affect me in any way but it makes me cringe every time I see it.
  3. I don't use 6 gear ratio reels anymore. I use a 5 gear ratio for deep cranks and everything else gets a 7 or higher. I have not seen a difference in the amount of fish I catch. If I need a slower retrieve I just reel slower.
  4. If there is I can't tell the difference. I just look for the best deal.
  5. I'm a Shimano only guy. My favorite in my collection is a toss up between my '13 Met and my Met MGL. Both cast really far, they're smooth on the retrieve, and have an incredibly smooth drag. If you are talking about the best reel for the $150-$200 range it is pretty hard to beat a Shimano Curado.
  6. My NRX 894 arrived about two weeks ago. Very happy with it especially for the price I paid for it. Pairs very nicely with my Met MGL.
  7. Connection to braid + leader: Alberto Mono/Fluoro/Braid: San Diego Jam
  8. Tackle Warehouse The Tackle Trap and numerous JDM sites like Japan Lure Shop and Digitaka
  9. I can't tell on the picture but does does the gear ratio say 6.2 or 8.2? If the new curado has a 8 gear ratio it will be my new frogging reel.
  10. Jon G replied to Catt's topic in General Bass Fishing Forum
Funny you said this. When I saw the picture of the fish it reminded me of a lemon blast. I used to have quite the collection of ball pythons and other constrictors.
  11. My first confidence bait was a tube with a 1/8 oz jig head. Caught my first bass on that bait and my first DD (on a pressured SoCal lake)
  12. Rage Craw is my favorite. Nothing even comes close to being second.
  13. The San Diego Jam is my favorite knot and I use it for everything including braid. However, if you are breaking off on an improved clinch knot I have a feeling you are not wetting your line when cinching the knot. The improved clinch knot is a very strong knot and should not break if tied properly.
  14. Did you take it apart and clean it? Shimano tends to over lube their reels so I clean them before I use them. My Metanium MGL is one of the smoothest reels I own but it was a little geary right out of the box before I cleaned it.
  15. The value of the Yen is less than the dollar. There is a bunch of other factors that makes it so but I'm not 100% sure why but as long as I can buy my reels for a cheaper price I'm a happy camper. The only difference between the JDM Metanium and the U.S. Metanium is the spool size. The JDM spool is a shallow spool while the U.S. version is a 150. However, you can buy a 150 size spool for the JDM Metanium which is what I did. I use the shallow spool with braid and the deeper spool for 16-20lb Fluoro.
  16. If you are considering buying a Chronarch MGL why not get the Metanium MGL from a JDM site like digitaka or JLS they have them for about $295 ($15 more than the Chronarch) and is a much better reel.
  17. My biggest rule is never skimp on line and hooks. Spending just a bit extra for quality line and terminal tackle will save you from a lot of heartache and frustration.
  18. If you're buying reels it is much cheaper. Would you rather by a Metanium from Japan for $295 or $420 from the U.S?
  19. I wouldn't worry about they may be busy. Also when I've ordered from places such as Digitaka I never receive an email, a week after I order a reel will just randomly show up.
  20. 1 on 3 off and 2 on the dial. I also have very little tension on the spool
  21. Its a rep sample. Has all the original tags and everything
  22. Hmm 16lb Sniper is the line I use the most of and I have never had it break. I would make sure you are wetting the line when you tie it and make sure the guides on your rod are not damaged.
  23. $430 later and an NRX 894 is on the way
